Rented a house next door for NEMBA Fest at Kingdom Trails. I walked here from the house. This review is for the country store located on the campground. The owners were very nice and there were tables inside and on the porch to sit down and enjoy a meal. I ordered a breakfast burrito which was awesome, they have breakfast sandwiches, coffee, Fresh baked goods like muffins and donuts, ice cream, hot dogs, tacos. Kayak rentals, wine and beer, toiletries, sweatshirts, and souvenirs are also sold here. Kayak rental on site for Lake Willoughby right across the street is very convenient and reasonably priced.

Stayed at the last tent site on the property (UT8) for a couple of nights. Our site was larger and more private than most of the other tent sites, which was nice. We had to drive up a steep rocky hill to get to it which was a little nerve racking but with my AWD SUV it wasn't too bad. The country store had some useful items like a fire ring sized grill rack which was super helpful for us cooking over the fire, and the breakfast sandwiches were good. The firewood they sold wasn't quite dry enough to burn super good, we had to split it with an axe into smaller pieces for it to burn better, but it got the job done. It's been a very dry season so far but the bugs were not bad at all and we didn't even need to use the netted bug shelter we brought just in case. I was extremely impressed by the bathrooms, they were so clean, insect free, and private, unlike other campgrounds I've stayed at before. The bathroom building has a handicap accessible ramp and each bathroom is accessed by a key - it's a single unit with toilet, sink, and shower in it, and was nice and warm. The showers are coin operated - 8 quarters for five minutes. There was a dish sink and couple of portapotties available right outside the bathhouse as well. Several hiking trails were within walking distance from the campground that offer great views. Staff was helpful and hard at work trucking kayak rentals to and from the lake across the street and the country store all day. Wi-Fi was available about 10 yards surrounding the country store, and there were outdoor electrical outlets on the porch of the store for charging phones, as there was not electric hookup on our site. Overall good experience, would definitely go back again.

    Beautiful Lake across the street.

Located off of route 3 ( the Daniel Webster Highway) in Franconia Notch, New Hampshire. An amazing…read moreplace to check out, in EVERY season! In the summer and fall there is an entrance fee of $18. There's a small entrance area, that has a ticket hut, similar to a fair or fun park. In the winter and spring... free, if you dare hike in on your own. I would suggest snow shoes or micro spikes, maybe even crampons. It's about a two mile trek, and you can do it, either counter clockwise or clockwise. We did it backward, mid winter. It was so awesome. You could hear the water rushing fast and cold, under the snow. Be very careful with your footing, while making your way through this hike! The covered bridges are beautiful, again , in every season, but there is something so special about hiking with a snow-globe effect. The colors in fall, are also a must see. In summer and fall, the tourists are not easy to get through. They clog the area entirely and there is very little room to get around. The trail has a visitor area that has lots of information about the park and the area. It has nice and clean restrooms, that are accessible. The parking lot is very large, and a small bridge over the water way makes it handicapped accessible as well. The busy season sees some snacks and drinks in the area if need be. There's a half way mark, with another little place, that has bathrooms, as well. It's a really wonderful place to spend a few hours. No dogs allowed, which is a bit of a bummer to be honest, but I guess I understand why. If you're in the area, I suggest you stop, especially if you've never visited it before !!

Nice people, good fishing, delicious food and a relaxing environment. Definitely a good place to…read moreunwind. Having to head back to "reality" at the end of my stay was the only downside. Even if you don't fly fish (the pond has native brook trout), Tim Pond is a nice spot to relax. The owners and staff are welcoming and helpful, the cabins are rustic but really charming, and there's a lot of natural beauty and wildlife to take in while you're there, whether you're out on the pond, walking some trails, or sitting in a rocking chair on the porch. This year I went up for the fly fishing school taught by Bonnie Holding, who is, among other things, a Master Maine Guide and extremely patient instructor. I had been doubtful about it at first (I went with my boyfriend), but by the end of the weekend I was yanking fish out of that pond just like a pro. If I'd kept any of the fish, the kitchen would have prepared them for me for breakfast the following morning, but I let them all go. Maybe next time. Speaking of food, the freshly-prepared meals are de-LICIOUS (Saturday night: choice of prime rib or scallop-stuffed haddock) and always include a mouth-watering dessert if you've got room (the brownie pudding was in-CREDIBLE!!). (And really, who doesn't make room for dessert? Silly people, that's who.) And then there's the cookie jar, which is always well-stocked and accessible whenEVER you want a fresh chocolate chip cookie. Yum. Each cabin has a bathroom with hot and cold running water (with a toilet, sink & shower), beds with fresh linens, a wood stove (or fireplace), and a cribbage board for just in case. I saw pictures in the library taken in the early 1900s that suggest that some of the cabins may be original to that time period. Definitely adds to the character of the camp, as does the kerosene lantern you can use when the generator shuts off at 10:00 and you're in the middle of a "best-out-of-three" cribbage match. (No, I didn't win.) If you're looking for swank, this isn't it. But if you're looking to unplug, relax, and enjoy some good meals with good people, Tim Pond is the place to go. :)
