Small chocolate shake, small french fries, and a ranch packet

SOOOOO amazing! I stopped by this White Castle before I donated blood this weekend--I got a small chocolate shake and a small fry and it really hit the spot! Nothing else was open, but White Castle had my back. The service was great and the drive-thru server was really helpful; I had questions about the sizes and she was super patient and kind. She even gave me a free ranch sauce! I didn't go inside but this was the best drive-thru experience I've had in a while. The shake was, of course, scrumptiously sweet and they have the best crinkle fries of any fast food place. It was only $6 and if you fill out the survey you get two free sliders !! I'll be back, White Castle!!!!

Very happy with the service received this trip. Sliders were very fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious as always!

I've saved a doozie for my (currently) 650th review. I was pretty young when the original (for Ann Arbor) White Castle was built on this very spot. Back then it was something of a novelty, and through the glass window we could watch the cooks placing the small, thin square patties that were perforated to facilitate fast (via steam) cooking on the griddle with finely diced reconstituted onions. Then they'd shovel it up, squeeze them between the unique buns and shove them into the open-topped box sleeves. The good 'ol days.... Then, I remember the faux nostalgia radio commercials. How some college kids drove 500 miles just because they craved White Castle (hogwash I say). And they sell them frozen. They still do? Yep. New building, been well over 25 years and I just had to show my gf what an actual White Castle looks and tastes like. And this is the tale of the bizarre encounter that ensued: we got into line and while not long it didn't move. One guy in front of us was joking about the place then suddenly left. I couldn't figure out if he gave up trying to order or if the food took too long to make. Somehow we advanced to the counter and someone in the back yelled at someone we couldn't see that there were people at the register. After a while a lady who looked like she couldn't be bothered appeared and we placed our order. Meanwhile in the back it was the strangest thing I've ever seen: The employees were working but in their own bubble and with expressions of just wanting to ride out the clock. Nobody spoke, joked or anything. Then, a guy popped out and placed a promo sign on the wall, askew I might add, and the same lady who took our order, the manager apparently, also popped out and immediately bagged on the poor guy's handiwork. All this entertainment except it wasn't really funny, more like a glimpse into dysfunction. The food eventually appeared and while it was fun to get "sliders" (that's how they rebranded their crappy little burgers) fresh it has to rank as the most bizarre dining experience to date.

Easily a four or more. We don't have White Castle back home and I've been waiting to try them for years and years and boy they didn't disappoint. Invariably most people will compare White Castle to the other guys and well, I found White Castle to be so much better. I can't really put my finger on it other than to say they were cheesier and had more onions bits and we're more substantive if that's a word. I feel sorry for the suckers behind me because I ordered a sack of em' that took at least 10 minutes to come out and by the time I left there was a ridiculously long line behind me. Heads up too, be careful pulling away after you've grabbed your sack because people like cutting through the parking lot like it's some kind of racetrack to avoid waiting at the light on the corner. Pfft.

This white castle has been in this location for what seems like forever. I've come here when I was kid and I've come here after a night of drinking. Sometimes the sliders just hit the spot. This location is ALWAYS busy. I'm talking like 5 cars in line busy. Which normally wouldn't be too bad but they're always so slow which is why the cars are so backed up. They've always gotten my order correct and everything has always been good, they just take a year and a half to complete it. At the end of the day this is still just a fast food place and you can't expect much.

Exactly NOT what I asked for

I have heard that White Castle has crazy fans. People who drive long-distance and bring white castles home on an airplane! I wondered what all the hype is about. So I came into possession of a coupon that would give me a free chicken slider, which could either be fried or grilled with the purchase of either another chicken slider or a veggie slider. I know, I know this stuff is not good but with the lure of something free I went to White Castle today. I chose to go through the drive-through. And when I pulled up and started talking about getting a grilled chicken sandwich I was told that they don't do grilled sliders. Well there goes the diet! So I started into a conversation about the french fries. Were they the wavy kind or were they the straight thin kind like McDonald's serves I asked. I was told they were not wavy they were the straight smooth like McDonald's. OK so I will go ahead and have the fried chicken slider, veggie slider, an order of fries and a small Diet Coke. When I get up to the window I'm told that would be $7.49. I reminded them I had the coupon and gave them the coupon. There was a bit of huddling going on behind the counter about this coupon. But eventually they came back and told me that my bill would be $5.37. Paid. So I get my bag of food and drive off. My hand goes in to get a french fry and I pull out a wavy limp french fry. Bummer! So I go for the chicken sandwich. They are tiny, they are sliders after all. It was nothing to write home about. I bet if you had been drinking all evening and were starving it would be excellent, but not at 11 AM. Then I reach in my bag to get my veggie slider. It looks like chicken on the outside. I take a bite, indeed it is another chicken slider! However I must say the diet Coke was just as you would expect. The diet Coke was the best part of the meal. Well so now I have been to White Castle. No more wondering if I am missing out on culinary excellence. I was not.

I pulled in, not expecting much, and to start off, I get to the pay window, and the person doesn't even say hello. While I get that fast food is on another level these days, c'mon! A simple hello goes a long way! She did say your welcome after I said thanks for my change. I ordered a sack of clams and an onion chip. Two fish sandwiches. That's all. It took roughly ten minutes for my order. (And there wasn't anyone in front of me, but you have to add wait time for online orders.) I give it to White Castle as your food does come pipin hot! The one thing you can always count on. The clams are actually quite good, the rest? Not My cup of tea. Price is moderate for a meal-13.67 for my four items. No drink. I was asked if I wanted tarter and other condiments-and I'm happy they didn't forget. Quite generous with those. The girl was very kind at the end.

Hey, it's White Castle...I need to get my fix when in Michigan. I love these little burgers...

Stopped here for our first time in Michigan, never had before! Food itself is decent but we waited for over 30 minutes and there were very few employees working and huge lines both inside and in the drive through. Wouldn't stop here if you're looking for FAST food UPDATE: half of our order is wrong. We ended up with over 4x the regulars and we had ordered a variety of different ones Not pleased

I was in the neighborhood as I was conducting some business at the University of Michigan. It's pretty much a very small old house converted into an ordering counter and kitchen behind. When you come in, you are expected to have your order ready to spit out without any hesitation or you get cursed and screamed at by the person at the counter. I had read that this was their modus operandi so I wasn't shocked! The burger was cooked on a flat top that was well loved. As I really wasn't sure of the condiments they offered. I just told them to load it up. My Burger came with a nice toasted bun-it had a freshly made burger, lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. It was very tasty. Krazy Jim doesn't do any advertising, but there were an abundance of college students waiting in line to order their burger. It feels to me like he is a legend of sorts as is the Blimpie Burger. I'm glad we arrived when we did as there was only a short line. Next time you're in Ann Arbor, Michigan, check it out. You won't regret it.

Yelp…read morehas allowed me to chronicle these adventures, serving as a repository for my dining memories. Echelon has now made it to my exclusive list of 5-star restaurants. I readily admit to being a tough reviewer - very few places earn a 5. Allow me to share some of the reasons: Service was stellar. The staffers were professional and friendly. They quickly brought out each course and cleared the table efficiently. They were tireless in answering my many questions about the ingredients. I prefer tasting menus. For me, after the first few bites, my taste buds get fatigued. The six-course tasting menu, with its complex flavors and textures, kept me interested throughout the meal. The dining room was spacious and well-appointed, without being stuffy and overwhelming. I loved the table groupings and comfy seats, whimsical wall coverings, oversized lighting, and wall of windows. I believe the tasting menu changes; I had: - A bite of brick dough (I had to look it up) pastry, served with a tart, faintly bitter rhubarb soda for a palate cleanser. - The Kanpachi crudo arrived with smoky fanfare. It was served with agua fresca and droplets of chili oil, topped with watermelon radish. I loved the fatty, slippery fish paired with the acidic, fresh, and spicy liquid. - My favorite course was the wood-roasted maitake mushroom in a shoyu glaze, topped with shallots, with a red pepper sauce. I wouldn't have minded a main entrée of these savory, meaty mushrooms. - Next up was the sesame seed-encrusted shrimp toast on Japanese milk bread. It was served with lobster bisque and tiny lobster tail skewers. I am very familiar with deep-fried shrimp toast, a dim sum staple, and loved the novelty of black and white sesame seeds. The bisque was rich and flavorful, while the lobster tail was sweet and delicious. It was such a variety of flavors on one plate. - I never had Cappelletti before and enjoyed the pasta stuffed with a manchego-ricotta mix. It was served with more mushrooms (yay!), buttermilk froth, and fried shallots. - The restaurant considered the Wagyu bavette the star of the tasting menu. While I liked the tender beef, peppercorn demi-glace, potato croquettes, and creme fraiche topped with bacon, I still preferred the mushroom course. - The grapefruit granita and compressed grapefruit were another nice palate cleanser. - The dessert was as beautiful as it was creative. Sunchoke ice cream and crispy sunchoke straws enhanced the chocolate hazelnut flavors. I only wish a duck course was available on the day of my visit. It was offered a few weeks earlier.

Mostly that it's a bit overpriced for the portions. They do have vegetarian options but not a lot. It's one of those cases where you can pay $20 for a plate of vegetables and expect that to be a full mean but if you eat meat or fish you're getting something a bit more substantial. I was hesitant to come for just dinner and order à la carte for that very reason. So instead: we came for the vegetarian tasting menu. They offer a vegetarian, vegan or pescatarian (as well as regular Meat) tasting menu on Wednesdays and Thursdays only and it's 5 or 7 courses. We did 5 which was plenty. It was a very vegetable-forward meal but it was a good way to try their menu. I do wish they had more vegetarian protein offerings but again, the flavors were fantastic. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive and was able to explain each dish with detail. I'll def come back but I hope they offer some protein options like beans or tofu or something for their herbivore friends!

My first visit was for brunch, and it completely won me over. The buffet had a wonderful variety of food, the mimosas and cocktails were delicious, and for the quality, variety, and service you get, the price point is very fair. I left thoroughly impressed. I came back for lunch excited to experience it again, and while the staff was just as warm and the environment just as great, however, this time the lunch menu didn't quite live up to my expectations. They offer salads, sandwiches, mac and cheese and similar American-style comfort food, which is totally fine, but for a restaurant of this caliber I was hoping for something a little more exciting. I ended up ordering a salad with added shrimp, which was absolutely delicious, and a pomegranate rosemary lemonade that was incredibly refreshing - perfect for a summer day-. But if you're not in the mood for sandwiches, salads, or mac and cheese, your options are pretty limited. My suggestion: keep doing everything you're doing because the hospitality and atmosphere are truly special, but consider expanding the lunch and dinner menu for those looking for a heartier or more diverse meal.

They had chopped onions, jalapenos, banana peppers, sauerkraut etc. and lots of sauces. I LOVED the brat. It was easy to bite and not super snappy which I didn't mind. The bun was perfectly toasted and the flavor combination was delicious. Kind of like a broccoli cheddar vibe. I had some of the currywurst which was also delicious!
