Well, it's finally happened, we've finally got a second and long-awaited icon of burger joints - the legendary and beloved Royal Castle! The original sliders ever. Great sliders, just as I remember them, but unfortunately not even close on Chicken or Fish sammiches. It is finally a terrific thing to check out a great junk food reminder from one's childhood and on! So I've had these frozen from the grocery store and was excited to try them fresh from the restaurant. I expected them to be soggy, because that's what they are known for, but I was very upset that they were cold. I was in line for a while so I assumed/hoped they would at least be hot and fresh, nope! If you want to eat in a timely manner go through drive through. They will serve cars after you in dine in. I saw 5 cars arrive after I placed my order served before me for dine in. Just what you'd expect from White Castle employees. They just want to clear drive thru and the heck with dine in. I'm going to leave. I've never had a fresh White Castle Slider and I won't have another. I saw an ad for the "10 Cheese Sliders" at a special price of $8 (or $9 depending on location) but when I ordered at the drive thru the AI program charged me extra for the cheese. I cancelled the order and went inside thinking that the program made a mistake, but no. My $8 sliders were actually $15 after tax. What a ripoff. I don't know what the hype is about these "burgers." They're expensive dinner rolls with a little bit of meat and burnt fillings. I'll take an In-N-Out burger over this trash any day. read more

A White Castle nearby! Yay! Brings back memories of my childhood. We went online to check out the menu while we were waiting in the drive through, and we were excited to try the cheddar cheese rings and onion rings, as well as a sack of cheese sliders and fries. Ordering at the drive through, they said they don't have the cheddar cheese rings... okay, so we get mozzarella sticks. Then we order the onion rings, nope they don't have onion rings either, they have onion chips... So that's what was disappointing is the website is not corresponding to the menu they actually have available. In the end, we really enjoyed the cheese sliders. We enjoyed the onion chips, but the fries were not crispy and the mozzarella sticks weren't on that melty, stretchy level. I am definitely going back, but really for that reminiscent cheese slider. I'm also intrigued to try the sloppy Joe, and I'd like to try the cheese fries. But hoping they are options when I order because I saw those are items on the website. This was my first time at a White Castle. The restaurant was dirty, there was no ice at the Coke machine, no straws, and no cup lids. Service is friendly, not exactly prompt sometimes though because they are usually busy inside and drive thru. I think they made a mistake not making the restaurant bigger inside, both for the employees to prep/cook and for customer dining. read more

So I'm not from the Midwest or have any nostalgic moments of White Castle to remember to influence my opinions. The sliders are just not good, they have a during and aftertaste. Fortunately dousing this is mustard is possible and you should do the same with your condiment of choice. They need to ditch the freestyle coke machine for a regular fountain despiser. That area was a major bottleneck inside alongside the sliders individual boxing. I'm sure it's traditional, but very inefficient that has no impact on food quality. Six Cheese Sliders, Med Fries & Large drink will run you short of $18 certainly far from value. I honestly think they should have a wall of microwaves to just get that slider a bit more melted. This certainly tastes on par with grocery store frozen food. So I arrived during the lunch rush of a weekday, and was handed my order fairly quickly. read more

They locked the outer doors sometime shortly after 7:00 PM (supposed to be 11), and then shut down the drive thru kiosks because, "we were too busy and only have three people working," according to the clerk we spoke to. As someone born and raised in the midwest, I have been eating White Castle hamburgers my whole life. Have been to the White Castle in Scottsdale, AZ many times over the past few years. Unsure i'll be going back to this location. I ordered a Sack of Ten with onions, mustard and pickles. I was given an order of fries and a Sack of Ten with onions, mustard, pickles, ketchup and hot sauce. Politely asked the manager if she could remake the order. She did, but appeared to be visibly annoyed that I asked. The correct order was handed to me a few minutes later, but the buns were soggy, the fries were soggy, and there was very few pickles and mustard on the sliders. The quality of these items at the Scottsdale location is always top notch during all times of the day, whereas the quality here is lacking. Everything tasted as it should, but you could tell the order was prepared hastily. I know they just recently opened and everybody working there is new, but as someone who lives closer to the Tempe location than the other Scottsdale one, I was hoping to make this my preferred location. I will go back eventually, but I was very disappointed in my food during this visit. Hopefully this will be corrected in the future, as I love White Castle and always will. read more

It is filthy when we visited around 6:30ish pm on a Sunday. We decided to try the fish sliders. DO NOT BOTHER with the fish sliders. This location sucks. Firstly, they have you order in the drive thru via a computer. Got done ordering and the system had an error or crashed so had to be connected to a nice employee who sadly was clearly busy fixing other orders too. The food was fine though didn't taste as fresh as the location in Scottsdale or Vegas. My chocolate milkshake however was utter crap. Either it's not actually ice cream they use but "frozen dessert" mixed with some sort of gum or they made the wrong order from someone and stuck it in the freezer before serving it to the next customer aka me. When we got it the cup was basically overflowing with shake to the point the lid wouldn't close. You'd think the dead eyed employee who gave it to us would have cared but no. Tried to take a sip but couldn't it was so think. Meanwhile bits are dripping all over the car. Tried multiple times to drink some over the course of 20 minutes and it still hadn't melted enough to get even a drop of shake. When I stopped off at a gas station to just dump it the entire middle section just plopped out in one giant cup shaped clump of semi frozen garbage. The sad reality is I don't know if I'd prefer an all computerized experience considering how bad the ordering system worked or actual people. First and foremost, I really like White Castle and the launch of this location was disastrous and an utter disappointment. They were not prepared and the service was horrible. The sliders were lackluster as they did not have lettuce and tomato to make the 1921 sliders . If you are really craving White Castle, go to the Scottsdale location as they have great food and fabulous service. read more
