So three years ago, I predicted this place wouldn't last much longer. Today I found out it is closing for good. The place had gone so downhill in every type of way. For quick background, I've been top tier in their loyalty program for over 20 years. Until five years, I bought pretty much all of my clothing from them. I've regretfully spent a lot of money at. WHBM. I'm don't normally enjoy shopping, I don't have innately good fashion sense. But the staff were so great- they made shopping fun for me, they would pick out curated outfits for me- I would say oh no I don't think that's me and they say please try it on for me - and I would and would discover they were right and it looked great on me. I liked and appreciated the staff so much, I would take them out to lunch on their day off. The last nice experience I had with them was in 2019. Since then with staff turnover ( they use to have long term dedicated employees). But the newish employees are horrible - they have no business being in a customer service role- they aren't helpful, not friendly, and seem pretty judgy. In any case, personnel quality, quality of clothing, quality of styles has declined so much. It's sad. .....but on the positive side they have saved me lots on money! read more

The WHBM customer service team is now asking me to call the same number I have already contacted at least ten times, despite the fact that the issue has never been resolved. They are requesting that I "explain the situation" again, even though I have repeated the same details over and over with no progress. I am genuinely unsure what they expect to be different this time. I also sent a detailed email to customer service expressing my disappointment when I posted the original review. Unsurprisingly, no one responded--despite confirmation that the email was successfully delivered. read more

I'm very excited to have found White House,Black Market. The clothes range from casual high waisted blue jeans to extra sparkly cocktail dress with some sex appeal. Business ware offers a professional professional approach paired with interesting design and color. The value and fit of the clothing offered may be the best I've ever found. Fit is SUPRIZINGLY consistent so. You can find different styles without changing. Sizes . Finally the prices are very reasonable. This place is hit or miss with customer service. A lot of the time the store is fairly empty there are three people working and no one cares to greet you or ask you if you need help. I've gotten scowls and bad looks while I shopped there and I used to go in once every two weeks, but I stopped going for almost a year because one employee was so incredibly rude to me when I asked a question about a dress. There was one nice lady here and I would make sure I came in when she was working, but she hasn't been working for a while so I've mostly ordered online. read more

Bridgette, who claimed to be the store manager at this whbm location in Gaithersburg, is very rude, and terribly unreasonable. I have been shopping here for years as this location is close to my home, and the store staff who I met during my previous visits were good. But because of Bridgette's terrible behavior today I will never shop with them again! I need to return a pair of pants I bought from this store two weeks ago. Back then the store associate brought it to my fitting room when I was trying other tops. After I got home I tried the pants again and it doesn't look as good as in the store's mirror. Today when I return, an associate who worked at the counter accepted it first, but Bridgette came and took over, then she refused to take my return by saying the pants has been worn and the extra stitches that close the front pocket originally were off. I don't know what other customers had tried the pants previously might have tried to put hand in the front pocket and opened those extra stitches. I never notice them when I purchase. I only tried it on once in store and once at home. Now she rejected the return because the pants had been tried on! Isn't it ridiculous? I told her she was not making any sense. But she has been rude and unreasonable the whole time. Such bad experience I had never had in any other store across the country! Definitely I will never shop here again! read more

This was probably the best customer service I've ever experienced at a WHBM, the sales associate I interacted with was friendly and super helpful without being pushy. Their inventory is always full of fun, chic day-to-night DC wardrobe filler, even if their jewelry runs towards boring. Management is very rude here. I've been to many White House Black Markets and this store is the only one that has been so rude and unwelcoming. They're also very pushy and do not understand when to back off; if I say I'm not interested, please do not keep interrupting me in the dressing room with more options. I also heard some staff judging my pregnant friend who was with me and I had enough of it so I left. I'll gladly drive the extra minutes to the store in Montgomery Mall. read more

I'm really glad that there is a WHBM here, even though it is bad for my bank account. I really like the styles and colours they offer, and while the clothes aren't cheap, it isn't hard to find things that won't fall apart after being worn for five minutes [looks at The Loft]. read more

Never ever will recommend this place I went there and I got charge twice and then they were rude acting like I never got charge twice I show them the stamens and until then they believed the costumer it is very rude costumer service abuse when I called they and start explained to them the situation they keep saying they didn't do anything and they hand out the phone on and even insulting me I CAN'T believed this place has employees insulting costumers. I love this brand of clothing and buy it frequently. I like the way it fits and have been shopping with them for 3 years. However, I do not like this location. I went in today to try and return something. I was standing there (the only customer in the store) for a few minutes before being acknowledged. Then I tried to return something today that was damaged- the shirt had a run- after 1 wear. No washing, just wore it 1x to work. When I tried to return it today with the tags (cut off) and the receipt they gave me a hard time. The employee said she had to get permission from the assistant manager who then started with the fact that items that have been worn cannot be returned. After me getting a bit upset she said she would call customer service. The cashier also gave me a hard time saying I pulled the shirt and damaged it myself. They did ultimately allow me to return the shirt in the end. But it was a bit of a hassle. I like the service MUCH better at Westfield Montgomery Mall and will no longer shop at this location although it is more convenient. read more

Me and my friends went there to try on clothes and my friend took a picture of me in an outfit and the lady told us, "you are playing and i don't appreciate that. Change your clothes and get out." On of my friends even apologized and the lady didn't respond. We left and didn't ask her name, but she was an Indian lady. Another of my friends even was thinking of buying some jeans before she kicked us out. Never shopping here again. Plus, everything is severely overpriced. read more

I'm giving this place one star and I will not change my review ever. There was a rude Indian lady who acts like she's all that when her makeup is not on fleek. When we were taking pictures and waiting on are moms she asked us "What are doing" in a Indian accent. Along with, she got mad when we had to come back and get the purse we left behind. But not only did she have a attitude she gave me and my friend the evil eye and treated us like dogs commanding all these rules. I LOVE this store. Upon entering for the first time I was greeted by two lovely ladies who proceeded to show all that they had to offer and even set up a dressing room. I am a huge fan of WHBM and really like this store in particular. Unfortunately, I'm here to complain about the loud music that apparently has to be played in the stores. I noticed it in early December and it was so loud that I couldn't even think so I left quickly rather than staying to try on clothes. Yesterday I went there again and it's still very loud. It makes it hard to talk with the sales people who are very helpful. I'm not sure why anyone would think that loud music helps sales. I see mostly middle-aged women like myself shopping here, not 20-somethings. I'll keep my rating at 4 but it will probably slip to a 3 if they don't turn the music down and of course I'll spend less money. read more

I have had a great experience with all WHBM stores in the past, but this one has left me shook. The customer service was horrible. The sales associate was rude and the manager was even ruder. When trying to return an item, the cashier THREW my item back to me saying it was past 60 days. They also then refused to give me another employee to get assisted by. They also treated me with uttermost disrespect and made me feel very bad about myself. And on top of all that, at the end when I told them they were being rude and asked for their names, they criticized me based on my country and race and yelled at me to get out of "THEIR" store. I have had an AWFUL customer service experience with the White House Black Market (WHBM) store. I have been a very regular and large customer for several years and was shocked at how they treated me yesterday. The salespeople know me fairly well and we get along great, and I've never caused any issue or asked for this type of help. It was a relatively minor issue of needing to return 3 items and I was only 8 days past the 60 day return policy because I had an accident just 2 weeks ago, where I severely broke my shoulder and have been unable to drive since then, and was finally able to get out (I hadn't even been going anywhere because it has been so painful) with my husband driving me. The store couldn't help with my situation (like help out a person and return items only 1 week late, when I NEVER have asked this before? A regular, high purchase customer??) and the saleswoman called Corporate, and not only could they not bend to show a one-time courtesy to help the problem given my unfortunate extenuating circumstances, I was spoken to in an extremely condescending manner. Is this how you treat a good customer? Nordstroms and many other stores have never ever done this and never would. I was shocked and am now waiting for the Supervisor of that Corporate Supervisor to call me back "within 24-48 hours". And what happens if I "God forbid" miss that call - will it be another 24-48 hours when I call back??? I am shocked and so disappointed at the lack of heart and flexibility of a store I so regularly shopped at - I left in tears and am stuck waiting for their call. this is one of my fave WHBM to shop at. The staff is super friendly and make all kinds of recommendations for outfits and what they think will look great on you. They've got a good eye -- there's been a few times when I've thought, "There's no way I could wear that!" and they encourage me to try it on and it looks incredible. I always walk out with something fabulous and feeling great about the purchase. read more
