Stopped for lunch on a Saturday. Heard so much good, but was very underwhelmed. Got there 15 min after open, we ordered a 2 piece dark and a 2 piece white, with sides. The chicken came out 10 minutes later - that should have been the first clue - no fried chicken is cooked in 10 minutes. So maybe it was from the night before and reheated? Extremely disappointed with the 5 meals I purchased on Saturday. The all white chicken dinners were a major disappointmen.. The mash potatoes were soupy, the Cole slaw had minimal dressing on it and the chicken was burned for all the meals. Oh, Barberton! So far away, but so worth it to get the best friggin fried chicken I've ever had in a restaurant. All they sell is chicken. This is a little hole in the wall place. The front room feels like an episode of The Twilight Zone. The rear dining area is a little more updated. The place is tidy and bright. The service is very good.The sides are OK, they serve this odd dish called hot sauce, which is hot sauce with rice in it, but it's strangely good. The fries are fresh hand cut and as good as any hand cut fries I've had, but the chicken is king of this place. It comes out freshly made and piping hot. So hot that it's hard to pick it up. It is a slow torture waiting for it to cool so you can eat it! It's so juicy and flavorful. Get in a reliable car and go try this place. I promise you will thank me! read more

My views on this place may be a bit jaundiced inasmuch as this was about the only restaurant for which my rather "Scotch" parents would spring back in the day. So this was just short of mother's milk for me, but here goes. As the Marine Corps of Barberton chicken houses these guys offer two entrees; chicken, and begrudgingly, fish. Other of it's counterparts venture boldly into other "haute cuisine" offerings of one kind or another, some do a nice paprikash etc., but not these guys! No hamburg, cheeseburg! The chicken is largely unseasoned, breaded and deep fried of course, so you may want to keep the salt shaker handy, For reasons unknown, though, perhaps it's laced with a narcotic, the stuff requires return visits. The bird is always juicy and, after salting, quite flavorful in an understated little black dress kinda way. Typically the fries are to die for, although on this visit they were a bit overdone, but they're fresh cut and the coup d' gras is the "hot sauce", (Hungary's version of Spanish rice). Get extra. Dip your fries in it and you'll never again be happy with ketchup! Dip your chicken in it, and the experience becomes transcendent! Back in the day, when I was the guest of my parents, the plates were overfilled with all the above and cole slaw, (vinegar and hint of sugar syle not creamy style), and everything ended up with either some cole slaw or hot sauce as a volunteer condiment, Just like the day Mr Hershey and Mr Reese bumped into one another, it was a most happy accident! One doesn't come here to impress one's friends. No alcohol is served, just soft drinks iced tea and coffee. It's a casual eatery, but one often sees suits and dresses as quite the cross section of people get hooked. Just rest assured that family-owned restaurants don't survive for over sixty years by serving slop, so just come and enjoy, you won't regret it! read more

The chicken thigh dinner my wife ordered came out cold and greasy, fries were cold and soggy, the fish dinner I ordered came out with two super small greasy fish fillets, fries cold, even our bread was hard and one could tell it wasn't fresh. Last time we will visit this location. read more

We ate here tonight for the first time with close friends. Service was outstanding, the place was packed and loud but our server managed to place our orders correctly and was very attentive. Portions are pretty large and the prices are low. The food? Not great. I ordered chicken tenders and they were hot on the outside but lukewarm at best on the inside. I don't think they cook with salt, at all. The breading had zero taste, but it left a lingering aftertaste to me, almost as if the fryer grease was dirty. We will not return, not quite sure what he hype about this place is. You want great fried chicken? Go to Mrs Yoders Kitchen in Amish Country, not here. read more

I was there years ago and I still remember it as the best damn chicken in the state, and arguably in the country.

I'm a Belgrade's kinda gal (maybe because they serve beer, unlike White House), but White House does a very proper rendition of Barberton chicken and the requisite sides. Service here is highly efficient but a bit brusque and the setting is spare. It's a decent place to get your fix, but a cold beer and nicer atmosphere would do wonders. read more

Chicken tender dinner & Chicken dinners were delicious. Fed 12 adults dinners + drinks for $133 + tip, which i would consider being an avg price. We will be coming here more often when in town. read more

The hot sauce is the spicest sauce and rice have ever had and once again nothing like vinegar coleslaw so delish. I agree with a couple of other reviewers: It's a place that if you've grown up with I can imagine the nostalgia outshines the actual food because as a recent transplant to the barberton area (at least job-wise) I heard so much about this place that I had to try it out. But I've had much, much better elsewhere. I ordered a 2 piece tenders snack and fries along with an extra side of cole slaw for a little under $6. Service was great, friendly and prompt. Food: Chicken: large breast pieces that really aren't tenders, more like a sandwich size tender. Chicken itself was really, really bland. Juicy, but almost tasteless. Breading was the same. Pretty basic but virtually tasteless. Fries were okay but lots of small bits and pieces vs. a heaping helping of long cut fries. Overall, it's not what I would consider a 'destination'-type place that many little cities have. Good: Cheap. Not so good: Very bland, small bits of fries. read more

My husband I used to love this place. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon after lunch rush. (2:00 pm) When we walked in there were 2 ladies at the counter. They both acted as if we were inconveniencing them by coming in. We were told to just sit ourselves. As we walked into the dinning area, there were no open tables, every table was covered in dirty dishes. Disgusting. I am a manager at another restaurant and this would have never been tolerated. I understand they were busy, but not to the point that EVERY table got up and left at the same time. There was one open table and it had not been wiped down. When the waitress came over we asked to have the table wiped. Again, we became a nuisance to the wait staff. There was another couple there as well. We found out they had been waiting for their food for an hour. Another table complained that the mash potatoes were cold. We ended up getting our food before the other couple. Our food was steaming hot and the portions were large. This was the only good part of our experience. My husband also got the mash potatoes and his was cold as well. The other couple finally got their food and it all was cold. The server obviously had forgotten to bring their food out. To top it all off, both my husband and I had digestive issues as soon as we got home. We used to love this place but the food quality has gone WAY down. This is the last time we will be going here. As a child this was a place my family and I would go to at least once a month, and I mean my whole family, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, ect. Fast forward 30 plus years and I still got here with my son. The chicken is good, not as great as before since not cooked in same way as the past due too using healthier was of cooking. The hot rice is still the best around!!! The decor is a little dated and old, hasn't changed much in 30 years, could use a little updating for sure. White House isn't the same as it was. I use to religiously order their chicken tenders meal with fries and hot rice. However, my recent purchases have made me vow to never return. The chicken skin was very oily and flimsy. The chicken itself was dry. The fries were not seasoned, oil-filled lumps. The only bright side of my dish was the hot rice, which they always seemed to get right. Unless you want a dinner based on hot rice, I wouldn't recommend White House. We took a road trip to Barberton especially to check out White House Chicken. We had seen White House Chicken featured on New Day Cleveland. We ordered the 4 piece chicken plate to split. The plate came with fries, coleslaw, and hot sauce. While the chicken was definitely hot and juicy, we found that it did not have much taste at all. We did NOT like it. We ate it, but when it is all said and done, we would rather buy the fried chicken from Giant Eagle. The fries were good..not great, but good. The coleslaw and hot sauce were not our cup of tea either. Perhaps we just don't "get" it...but this meal was nothing to brag on. I would not recommend this food to anyone. read more
