This was the perfect breakfast in Lake, George! Three days of breakfasts around here and I was happy.we were able to end like this. The portions were perfect. Around these parts, people love to serve large portions, and that is fantastic, but my friend and I were discussing how people give too much toast. To us it's just a filler. So frankly, it was nice to see one piece instead of the normal two other restaurants tend to serve. It's a small thing, but it mattered. Prices were very fair! Especially considering the ritzy atmosphere. Stunning views of Lake George. Easily the best views. They are perched high atop the hill, so with large windows so there's lots to see. I really wish they would just clean their windows. There were spiderwebs and spiders. The sunrise mimosa was delicious. As always around Lake George, service was impeccable. Stayed at the Fort William Henry for my vacation in Lake George and decided to have breakfast here one morning. They have seating that offers a good view of the lake which is definitely a plus! We ordered the Two Eggs any style with bacon and the French Toast. Two eggs any style is my go to breakfast order and serves as my test to determine if a restaurant can make a solid breakfast. White Lion met my expectations, especially with the perfectly crisp bacon, just the way it should be. Both of our meals were flavorful and delicious! Coffee is good here as well. You're paying for the views and beautiful area here, not the actual food. We ate here two days. It's pricey, $8-$10 for breakfast food, $3 for mediocre coffee (the coffee in the machine in the hotel lobby is better and it's free) First day, boyfriend and I had the lumberjack platter, 2 pancakes, eggs, home fries, bacon sausage and toast. I didn't even eat my bacon because it was burnt and tasted like it had been sitting around. The eggs were ok. They looked like they had been sitting on a plate for a few minutes so they weren't the freshest. The pancakes were beautiful but sorely disappointing. They tasted like they were missing something. Like they were flavorless and tasted like baking soda. No sustenance. The homefries were good but so greasy. The next day, I had the western omelet. Unremarkable. I've had better ones in most places. We had $5 vouchers from our hotel and the meals still ending up costing us. If you're looking for a pretty view with ok food, come here. Otherwise I recommend Cafe Verro down the street. Food was great. Place was great, view great. They were allowing a small portion of people in due to covid. Our waiter was not so great. Brought our food with no utensils, and when we asked he said they "ran out of them" so we were given plastic utensils... made no sense since a couple that arrived after us got regular utensils lol. Also, the minute the waiter brought our food he brought our check. Which that was new.. I observed that 2 other tables received their checks at the end (like normal). Will definitely be coming back, but hope not to get the same waiter. read more

We stayed at the Hotel last year and had breakfast at the White Lion every morning of our stay. It was very good. This year when we returned, the hotel had no accomodations, so we stayed somewhere else and looked forward to our continuing traditon of a White Lion breakfast. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. We found the grumpiness of the hostess a little disconcerting last year, but overlooked it. This year, the same hostess was on, and her attitude had not improved; but the server was very nice and attentive. The real issue was the breakfast buffet. I'll make it brief: Scrambled and special eggs were cold, flavorless and rubbery. Sausage links were not properly browned, and were cold. French toast was cold. The breakfast ham was cold. The only decent food item were the Adirondack home fries, which were delicious. Man does not live by home fries alone. read more

Kids All had Chocolate chip pancakes and bacon , husband had irish soda break French toast and I had the egg white Mediterranean omelet - it's a must have ! What happened? This place is obviously a hit and miss. I came back to this restaurant for breakfast based on my experience in 2010. It didn't even come close to meeting my expectations this time around. I was wrong about the view. Depending on what side you sit on will give you the more clear view of the lake. However, the food this time was in reverse. Before I said the food was good and the pastries were bad. This time around the pastries were at the top of the list. The scrambled eggs I loved so much two years ago were cold and bland. As was everything else. I won't be coming back here again. The service was okay with making sure you had enough coffee and other beverages, but the food quality was just not there. This place exceeded my expectations for a hotel breakfast spot. We beat the breakfast rush by arriving by 930 and we were able to enjoy a seat by the window with a lake view. What an experience! Showed up at 10:00 AM to the hostess being frazzled ! Taking names & not sure who to bring into the dining room so I wonder what the point of taking names was for??? After our 15 minute wait we were seated. Our waitress was apparently on break bc we had the frazzled hostess take our order! When asked if there was salsa (before ordering our meal) she asked another waitress which answered yes we do!! A few minutes later Our waitress (finally) came to the table to tell us they ran out of wheat toast! Then 10 minutes later... she came back, to give us A check on food we hadn't received ???? When reminded we haven't eaten yet she says "oh right food should be right out!" SERIOUSLY??? (Smh) another 5 minutes goes by and she comes to tell us there's no salsa ! WOW!! Sooo, After 30 minutes they realized they have no salsa??? incompetent or just a little? So, At this point I'm Super discouraged !! we have been at the restaurant 30 minutes after ordering and they come to tell us they are out of the very thing we asked about ,, at the beginning! We had a lovely breakfast here. The views out the back window can't be beat. We requested a table with a window seat. Not a problem. The back left corner is in my opinion THE best seat but there are other gems too. We were seated in less than 5 mins. We went the third weekend in October but they still had a decent breakfast crowd. I've read some reviews about a wait. Perhaps because it was off season it wasn't a problem. I had a large glass of yummy tomato juice the hubs had orange. I had Adirondack oatmeal which was DELICIOUS! It had apricot, date and cherry pieces with a drizzle of clover honey. It came with a side of fresh fruit. All for $6.99! It was a creamier consistency than I'm used to but very, very tasty!!! I was torn between this and the special Apple pie cobbler oatmeal with apple crisp on top. I figured this was the healthier option. Bother were probably a tasty choice. My husband ordered a big meal, a special I believe. It came with two eggs, meat, a pancake and potatoes. He gave me the potatoes as they had onions which he doesn't eat they were yummy! So much food. He enjoyed his meal very much as well. I think with tip, coffee for two, two large juices and our meals, it was $30! I'm not sure why all the negative reviews. It was a simple breakfast. Nothing too fancy other than that view!! My oatmeal however was one of the best I've ever have and I eat a lot of oatmeal. Walk around the grounds afterwards. The cannons and log cabin of the fort were pretty cool. We didn't actually go in the museum but you can just walk and read the signs and get a feel for the history. The views out the back over Lake George were just beautiful! They were setting up for a wedding on the Saturday morning we were there. Just beautiful! Definitely leave time to walk walk around a bit. **fun fact. If you walk down to the Adirondack Sandwich Shop, walk across the street to the park and you will find a blue map of Lake George on the ground. Stand on the x and talk. The acoustics are amazing!!! Legend has it that ancient Native American leaders used this spot to carry his message to all in the village as the acoustics travel. It's something about how you are located in the middle of the two mountain ranges over the water. Pretty neat. Kiddos will get a kick out of it. You must face the water to hear it. read more

Not bad for a hotel Restaurant. They seemed to be very busy and overwhelmed both times I went but sat us between half hour to 40 minutes both times. I nice feature for me , is that you can get a "to go" Cup of coffee while you wait to be seated and I find their coffee to be very good, and I am a bit picky with my restaurant coffee. It is a bit more than medium but not too bold for the masses. The first day I got two sunny side eggs, hash browns and rye toast. Day two I got French toast and hash browns again. Both were decent , hash browns were very good. Menu variety is lacking and prices a tiny bit steep on some items. The rest of my party all in all liked their food but common complaint for omelettes was that they should ease up on the cheese. The restaurant itself had beautiful old architecture and the views are amazing. Even though they were clearly understaffed, the waitress did great job both days. Solid place. Would return. You'll be kept waiting for over an hour here! We arrived for breakfast around 8:45 am and were politely told that there would be about a 15-20 minute wait to be seated. We didn't mind waiting for a bit so our name was put on the list and we waited to be seated. After about 15 minutes, we were seated and ready to order. Our server came over with coffee and we quickly placed our order right then. We then waited a full one hour looking around the room as our waiter frivolously walked back and forth throughout the rest of his tables. He did not come over to refill our coffee mugs nor did he obviously come with any of our food. We watched as other people who ordered after us were given their food and coffee refills. Some members of our party had to report to work and hadn't had planned that the service would be so slow here, so we kindly pulled our server over to ask where our food is since we had been waiting an hour. He said they are just toasting up the bread. We waited another 15 minutes (I guess that's how long it takes for bread to toast) until our food finally came. The waiter was completely clueless as to who's order was who's. We asked for some butter (which never came). Took the first bite and the food was cold. Not hot, not warm, but cold. Asked to speak to the manager after, who we overheard talking to a different waiter asking what was wrong with our table. Next time, maybe the manager should just ask us directly. Won't be coming here again unless we feel like wasting our time. Oh and by the way, we didn't get another coffee refill until the manager finally came. read more
