Visited Lake George for Labor Day Weekend and was pleasantly surprised with how good their wings were. Early into my LG visit, I tried another restaurants 'Award Winning' Chipotle Bacon Wings. After trying Charlie's (very unique!) Raspberry Habanero wings, I recommend that the Award Committee reconsider the award recipient to Charlie's!! Unique, delicious, with a kick. Couldn't stop thinking of them! The Calamari, Flat Iron Steak, and Tenderloin Tips + Gnocchi were also really good, but the wings were the star for me. Service was great as well, and they were able to answer all the questions I had (sorry for being so annoying - promise I'm not that picky!!) Highly recommend, even if it's just for the wings! We stayed at the Marriott for a conference, we got in late so most things were closed so we ordered to go and brought it to the room. We got the Chicken & sausage a la vodka and the BBQ Mac and cheese. We wish the person who took our order warned us about the size, we each got one to share and they each could actually feed probably 4 people. The container were also too big to fit in the small refrigerator so we had to throw it away. The bread sticks were over cooked. The food itself was okay, I definitely would recommend going somewhere else because everywhere else we ate was much better and lower priced. read more

We went here for a sit-down breakfast and it has a great view. We opted to sit inside, and it is actually part of the hotel. Our waitress was excellent. I have small children, and she was very patient with them. My 4-year-old stated this was his favorite breakfast place, which is a huge compliment. All I am saying is everyone on our table enjoyed their food enough where all we did was offer food to each other. The french onion soup was good. Filled with softly cooked onions & oregano in the broth which gave it a unique flavor compared to others. I ordered a swordfish, rest of family had a burger, salmon & a salad. My first couple bites were dry but ended on a good note. Enjoyed the cajun flavor and the rice and vegetables filled the plate up. I ordered a Affogato for dessert and it was outstanding! Everyone at the table had a bite and had that look as if they should have ordered one. For a hotel restaurant this is a good one. I can vouch that a lot of these reviews are accurate. I can see how some people think the staff is poor; my aunt wasn't thrilled with the bar tender, although the host was very friendly to us as well as our server. The wait time can very. It took a while to get our table but we were in no rush and enjoyed drinks at the bar table and good conversation. Be sure to call and make a reservation. I would come back and try their breakfast. We passed this placed countless times coming/going to our hotel and it was always busy (being attached at the hip to the Marriott surely helped) so we decided to give them a shot for breakfast. Menu was limited. The coffee was bitter. Per the usual when you ate outside in Lake George: there would be that one damn bee that made sure to come by and buzz around just to bother you. Otherwise... the avocado toast would've made NYC proud with its Instagrammable presentation and the Mrs. said the flavor was there to match. I generally avoid hotel restaurants but was pleasantly surprised at this one. We were on our way to upstate and needed dinner so this place looked good judging by the reviews. I thought it was solid but not a 4 star. Being attached to the hotel, the size was good and tables were spaced apart so that there wasn't a lot of echo. It had decent ambiance. I had the Lake George punch to start and it was a bit sweet compared to many rum punches I have had. My meal included a side of salad and it was good. The balsamic vinaigrette was really good. My wife had salmon and I had a strip steak with two shrimp (surf and turf). Both meals were were cooked properly. My steak was a bit more medium than medium rare but not bad. The baked potatoes were a little dry but not bad. We ordered sour cream on the side and got mayonnaise on the side...LOL. The veggies were quite nice Our server was super good which gets this place the half star up versus a rating of 3. Value was good as well which is always important to me. Wife had the salmon, daughter had the braised beef Mac and cheese and I had the NYStrip.. for appetizers we had the French onion soup loaded pierogi and the calamari.. all exceptional. For dessert the layered chocolate bomb(exclusively recommended by Rebecca) and the blueberry cheesecake and for drinks the Tito's blueberry spritz and the Ithaca flower power ipa.. and for me a double espresso with a shot of sambuca on the side for dessert. I very much enjoyed my dinner here tonight. Service was great, my cosmo was good and not overly sweet. Food is solid. Spinach and artichoke dip was good, but could have used more cheese. The seafood Alfredo was delicious and creamy. Also loved the garlic bread it came with. The portion was also big. My fiancé had the clams and mussels over angel hair. He liked it, I thought it was pretty good, but I liked the Alfredo more, I'm picky with marinara sauce. I would definitely eat here again when staying in lake George. read more

We stopped here for a light lunch as soon as we arrived in Lake George. It was close by to our room, and we were too early to check in. The place was quiet for lunch, but sounded like breakfast was a busy time. We shared some spinach dip and a turkey sandwich with fries. Our server, Vincent, was friendly and nearby if we needed them. Our view from the table was pretty, being right across from the lake. First off,my husband was disappointed that they carried Pepsi products rather than Coke. But he ordered a root beer. It was served to him in a glass with ice, but from a bottle, left on the table. He joked that he could've brought in his own bottle of Coke. Anyway, we decided on what to order. The spinach dip had a sharp taste. We think it was over powered with Asiago cheese. It wasn't terrible,but the chips were a bit stale. Luckily the sandwich was delicious! The turkey and apple sandwich was tasty and buttery and warm, served with crispy fries. It hot the spot without getting us too full for dinner later. Let's be honest: chain hotel restaurants by and large are pretty mediocre. Which is why we ate at Charlie's with low expectations. Happily, we needn't have -- this is one restaurant that came up positively. We ate a couple of breakfasts which were ok: two eggs with potatoes and meat ($11) and eggs and corned beef hash ($16). The prices are about par for what you'd expect at an in-house restaurant like this. We liked our efficient, friendly servers. Dinner was a different story; we enjoyed a really delicious meal of grilled peppercorn swordfish ($34) -- moist, not over-cooked, with a tasty viegre sauce -- along with a zesty French onion soup, a crab cake that was genuine crab, and some good seared medium rare tuna. It was a fine meal, and our server added to it with her good humor and attentiveness. Based on our dinner we'd call Charlie's among the best restaurants in this area. read more

Place has a very nice atmosphere and location is great right on the main strip of Lake George village. Good food options and staff is very friendly. Best of all (for us) their steaks are HALAL!!! The supplier they use is known to be certified halal and we just ended up calling on a whim and the guest hostess was able to confirm it for us before we knew who their supplier was. So glad she knew and we were able to have a nice family meal for the birthday girl. Looking forward to visiting again and hopefully their steaks stay halal for others with religious restrictions to enjoy another dining option. read more

Celebrated a birthday at Charlie's with my husband. His 'Classic Cobb salad' was outstanding, unfortunately my chicken Marsala was very disappointing. Disappointment is 'chicken based'. The Cobb salad was served with a generous portion of nicely grilled chicken. The chicken portion of the chicken Marsala was missing in action (MIA). Difficult to discern more than a minuscule chicken portion in the dinner as my plate was overwhelmed with onions and sauce. Conclusion, get the Cobb and avoid Marsala. After a disaster of a first dinner at a different restaurant, we didn't have high hopes for the food in general in Lake George. Thankfully, Charlie's came through. We ordered take out, which we don't normally do while on vacation, but due to extenuating circumstances had to. The order was correct all around which often isn't the case on a larger order. Kids pasta (one with sauce and one with butter) were fine. Decent sized portions. Chicken and sausage alla vodka was very flavorful with a fun shaped pasta. The salmon was cooked well and had good flavor. The steak tips were more like beef with broccoli from a Chinese restaurant and wasn't a favorite. The Cobb salad was very good. Didn't need dressing with all of the yumminess packed into it. It's likely even better when dining in the restaurant. A solid choice when staying in Lake George. read more

We stopped by this restaurant when visiting Lake George during the fall. That weekend we were visiting there were select restaurants including Charlie's that were participating in Restaurant Week where you can get a three course meal for an affordable price. That weekend the theme was pumpkin. We of course started with drinks. A lot of the drinks on the cocktail menu sounded good to try. I decided to go with the Pumpkin Spice White Russian. It was just enough sweetness with a hint of the fall flavor to satisfy the palate. For the three course meal I chose the shrimp cocktail, the seafood risotto and carrot cake. All the food was very good and delicious. The seafood risotto was cooked perfectly and was great after a long day of exploring. The carrot cake wasn't originally a choice on the pre-fixe menu, but since the original desserts chosen for the menu were sold out they gave it as a replacement and it was a good one. Dinner here was underwhelming. I ordered the "Bourbon Street Shrimp & Scallops" ($34), which consisted of a few sea scallops and shrimp over half a cup of rice, with a tiny amount of overcooked sautéed squash on the side. It was an entrée, but the size of an appetizer. The scallops were cooked through, but had no color on them, and were flavorless. The shrimp were rubbery. The whole dish was doused with a cloyingly-sweet cane syrup sauce. I would not want to eat this again. The young waitress was charming, but she was shadowed by a creepy Gen-Z guy with a scruffy beard who did nothing except skulk around behind her all evening, and stare at me without saying a word or cracking a smile. Breakfast was a little better. I had a fluffy, well-made omelet with chopped onions and American cheese, potatoes, and toast, but the little butter packets were the smallest I have ever seen. I needed six of them for one slice of toast, but gave up after struggling to open two. The coffee was good, but the orange juice was from concentrate and flat. read more

I stopped at Charlie's for a late and lite meal with my wife and daughter. We got service from a nice waitress which looks like her first day. We ordered drinks, soups, salad and tacos. Everything was going perfect until a guy came behind asking who order the Pinot Grigio and I said nicely no I order a Pinot Noir one minute later he pass me on my side and just land the glass abruptly next to me without any kind of etiquette or good manners. We had breakfast here on a Saturday morning before heading home and everything was just fine. It was about a half an hour wait to be seated, which is pretty par for the course for any place in the village at 9:30 on a Saturday. They take your number and call when the table is ready, so we were able to stroll down to a few stores and do a little last-minute souvenir shopping while we waited. Our table was ready just about 30 minutes on the dot, and our server quickly came to take drink orders. With coffee in hand a few minutes after that, we all ordered something different: 2 eggs with breakfast meat, pancakes with candied walnuts, corned beef hash, a breakfast sandwich and I went with a southwest burrito. While my oldest son LOVED the pancakes, the rest of us were not terribly impressed. Nothing particularly wrong, just nothing noteworthy. Even my youngest commented that the scrambled eggs weren't nearly as good as my wife's. So, in the end, I guess Charlie's delivered exactly what you'd probably anticipate from a restaurant in a chain hotel: a slightly overpriced inoffensive meal with pretty good service.
