Very much like a local English pup that is wonderfully decorated. English food, fish and chips, bangers and mash are good. Peter/ "Peta" the host can be entertaining. Went here tonight. Heard great things from coworkers but never saw many cars. We stood by from door for 5 minutes with servers and staff passing us without introduction or offering help. We were told to "go sit in the corner" eventually. We ordered Diet Coke and good at same time. Never received Diet Coke. Food arrived after 45 min - I never received water refill. Great food and service! FYI, they don't have a bar you can sit at... I walked in looking for a bar to sit, eat, and drink at, but they don't have one in the multiple separate rooms that the restaurant is made of. I ended up just sitting at the table closest to where the drinks were prepared (I had a long day). The bartender creating the drinks was so nice and made sure I had another beer as soon as I finished the first (he knows what's up). I got the Taste of the Midlands. It was comforting and felt homemade from a little loving grandma who just wants to feed you and see you happy as you shove all the goodness into your mouth. The peas that came on the side were room temp which I thought was weird, but I just scooped them into my cottage pie and it was all good. Make sure to use the HP Brown sauce they have to dip your fries, or chips, into! You can also squirt it on your cottage pie - it's pretty good. If I'm ever in Tulsa again, I'd come here to eat. read more

I don't often give 5 stars, i save them for places that have the whole package. You should know this is a legit english pub. Prob the only true pub in the whole state. If you like quiet don't shy away, no drunk ppl, and separate rooms for the non pub-ish type folks (there is a huge difference between a bar and a pub) in fact if you want the real deal skip the Scottish place around the block (yes they're Scottish with an Irish/American menu and they are my fav regular spot but...the food and service here is way better) come here at least once. I should really come here more, I find the hours weird but thats bc this is a family run biz. They for reals MAKE the food, only serve a handful of beers on tap but they are irish/english beers not bud, and truly care about your enjoyment of their food. I really wanted to love this place, the reviews were good, the photos were spot on, and i love a good pub - wherever they may be. Very convenient to the hotel we were staying at so off we go. Parking was, well to put it mildly - nonexistent. Parked on the street, which normally would not have had a problem with except it was raining rather hard when we got there. The restaurant was small, looks like an old house, very similar to many pubs in England and Scotland I've been to. Tables were small and close together, given COVID that made me a little nervous but several were unoccupied so it was ok Service was quite good and they had Smethwick's on draft which was nice. We ordered the fish and chips - the gold standard of pub food everywhere. Very disappointing, the mushy peas - spot on, the chips pretty good, the fish reminded me of the fish sticks we got in the cafeteria in middle school. Two small, flat heavily breaded filets with the minimal amount of fish in each one. Pretty tasteless in my opinion. Dim and dingy, like Britain; and there's nothing wrong with that if you're into atmospheric British pub. The food here is close to authentic British food: simple and comfort. If you're looking for complicated drinks, do not come here, since they only do the classics, and they do it well! I love my gin martini here. Charming and quaint, this little pub makes me feel like I'm back vacationing in England again! The ambiance, the food, and the service are as perfect as can be. For Tulsa, this is a rare and unique find - an authentic British pub. The food is delicious no matter what you choose. We got the sausage rolls appetizer, delicious, and I ordered the chicken and mushroom pot pie. The pie crust was so flaky and wonderful, and the white sauce was perfectly savory. The fish and chips are incredible (get the mashed peas as your side, you won't regret it), and the Taste of the Midlands was perhaps my favorite dish of all - minced meat and mashed potatoes in one amazing pot pie. The best part of our experience was without a doubt the service. Our waiter, presumably the owner of the restaurant, was friendly and helpful, offering us samples of their specialty beer and a free slice of delicious chocolate fudge cake at the end of the meal (I was stuffed but I devoured every bite). So far, this is my favorite restaurant in Tulsa. I found this place on Yelp because I was hankering fish and chips. Who knew Yelp had a category for that? Anyway, the place wasn't too far and the reviews were all good, so I went. First, the people are wonderful. Peter met me at the door and showed me to my seat and then Kelly took my order. Betty (the owner) was there too, and she's absolutely charming. I think they said the bartender's name was Bruce but I wasn't quite sure. I was having iced tea so I didn't get to interact with him at all. The room is cozy and well-appointed (meaning they have a lot of junk all over the place). It gives you something to look at. The menu is small but everything looked good. I only had one goal, however, so I stuck to my plan. The fish and chips comes with something called mushy peas. Whatever. How bad could they be? I ordered an iced tea and waited. The wait was not long and I tried the mushy peas. First, I should clarify that I do have a bit of a sweet tooth. Mushy peas are unique. They are peas that are allowed to dry out on the vine and then are harvested. They soak overnight before being cooked and they come out like green mush. But they have a sweetness to them that makes them really delicious. I could have eaten a plate of nothing but these peas and been just as happy. The fish was delicious; flaky, golden and crunchy. They have the malt vinegar on the table for the die-hards but for those of us who can't get away from being American, they also serve tartar sauce. Kelly made sure I had enough of that (bless her heart). After dinner I had a little tour of the restaurant and found that there are several rooms, all small and equally charming. The Winston Churchill room is where I'd like to be next time. I loved the way it was set up but all the rooms are adorable. Like I said, this is my new favorite restaurant in Tulsa so if you go, look for me. It won't be long before I go back again. read more

I found White Lion through Yelp after I had the sudden urge to get my hands on some beef wellington. I researched places that might serve this dish and found the great reviews. Unfortunately beef wellington is only served as their special, but I did get something that I felt was comparable and equally tasty! As a Liverpool England boy, transplanted to this wonderful country I was taken to the White Lion Public House not really expecting much. Boy was I wrong. I can tell you this was as authentic as an English Pub should be. Even the outside had a tree growing through the roof. Betty the charming owner, welcomes you personally in her inimitable English style. Have the Fuller ESB brown split beer, which is a mix pint of an Amber and Brown ale. Delicious. The food is tasty traditional pub style and cooked beautifully. The cozy rooms and interesting artifacts, are genuine. Trust me. Betty and her family live above the pub, again very traditional English Pub. You feel as though Betty has welcomed you into her home. If you think you're a football fan, and I mean the real football, be prepared as Betty is a rabid Liverpool FC supporter, and during our meal I got into some trash taking with an Arsenal fan. It's was fun and teasing so Betty cued up our famous You'll Never Walk Alone song which we all sang, much to his disdain. This is more than a pint of beer and steak and kidney pie. I hate writing reviews for my favorite places because I want to keep them for myself! My husband is originally from Birmingham (of the English variety) and he/we lived in San Diego for 6.5 years prior to moving to OKC. One of my chief tasks was to find a British pub. We trek from OKC to the White Lion because it's authentic English pub. First, call ahead! They don't turn tables so if you don't get lucky when you come in, you won't want to wait for a table. Second, order the sausage rolls. I haven't had any that good since our last trip to the motherland. Third, look around for old reminders of home. Another reviewer pointed out that you feel like you're in someone's home in England. I dare say that's because most pub owners live in an attachment to the pub. But I respectfully disagree--it's decorated just like a British pub. Betty's son took great care to make it feel as authentic as possible and Betty and Peter take care of the food and customer service side. The only thing they're missing, for me, is sticky toffee pudding. But I won't deduct any points because I love this place too much! read more
