I am very pleased with the service received from Victor at White Mechanical. After diagnosis of the A/C unit, we were told the system compressor was not turning on. Victor gave me a few options, and I decided to go with the least expensive, which was to put in a hard start kit. We were told this may last a year or it may last a day. I was willing to take that chance. I have an eleven-year-old unit and would like to get a few more years, if possible, out of it. Which we did. He determined the compressor was bad???? He also diagnosed a blown fuse.... however he did NOT suggest to replace the fuse and then try the unit. He determined that he thought the compressor was bad (even used a meter to measure windings... uh NO?) He said he would provide a quote for a new heat pump system, which he never did after 3 weeks? So... trying to investigate further. I got my own Digital Volt Meter and also determined there was a blown fuse... I proceeded to purchase NEW fuses from Lowes.... And to my complete surprise.... the unit turned on and cools like it has for 40 years... Yes... original AC unit. Come on now???? Why did you lead me and the home owner to a NEW unit for $15K-$17K???? When you should have known to try the new fuse. You bragged to me about how many years you have worked in the industry, that makes me think.... how many times you try to 'trick or mis-lead' people that may not be able to determine the issue on there own. I'm also letting COSTCO know that they should question your technical skills and recommendation practices.... I'm an honest hard working individual. You should do the same????? On March 9th, 2026 White Mechanical installed a new Lennox furnace for us.  We were offered an electrostatic air filter option with the Costco purchase, but we declined that expensive option. The installation proceeded as expected and the installer did a very clean and professional job.   However, we asked the installer to demonstrate how to replace the air filter, we were dismayed at the complexity of the replacement.  We must remove the outside cover, then using a special tool, remove the interior cover to access the filter. Then, making sure we do not disturb any of the loose wires nearby, we then remove the filter hold-down bracket with the special tool and swap filters. Then carefully replace all the parts & panels in reverse order until restored.   I was dismayed at the complexity of the furnace filter exchange, as the other Lennox furnace we have has a simple door, allowing the filter to be changed in 10 seconds, instead of 10-15 minutes, requiring a special tool. See attached photo.  I must admit it, it was my expectation to receive a simple way to replace the filter with the new furnace, being the best brand on the market with a rather expensive install.  White Mechanical offered to install a simple filter box below the furnace, so we can swap filters quickly like downstairs, but the quote was $1,100 more, almost as much as the electronic filter we rejected due to the cost. White Mechanical also offers an annual service program with the first year free, including a filter change. However, after the first year, the annual cost would likely be several hundred dollars. I can't help but wonder if the filter issue isn't part of a scheme to create an annual gravy train in service fees. I am also puzzled by the Lennox warranty requirement of annual inspections, which could invalidate future warranty claims, if not followed. Talk about teaming-up against the customer. read more

I had a poor experience with them coming out to quote a job twice. I scheduled a quote for a complete HVAC replacement and was given a window and told they would call me 30 minutes out. I went to lunch an hour before the window began (just a block away in case I got the call early) and show up home to a guy standing on my porch and he's clearly annoyed with me. I explained that I was supposed to be given a 30 minute warning call and the guy started to give me attitude and said I needed to reschedule. I called to complain about them not calling me in advance and was told the tech should have called and they were sorry for his attitude and promised me they would send their best guy a couple of days later and was told again there is a note in the system to call me in advance that they were on their way. What happens? You guessed it, they showed up without warning on the day we discussed. I was home this time and ready, but since they couldn't follow this simple direction twice I didn't even let him in the quote and with with Sean Patrick HVAC and they did a great job. read more

10 years ago, we had our A/C replacement done through Costco and it was done by White Mechanical. We loved the service and we thought Costco vouched this shop so it should be good. Time flies, 3 years, tenants at our rental told us that A/C did not blow cold air at 2nd floor, but 1st and 3rd floors were fine. We called White Mechanical and the 1st technician told us that everything is fine and he does not know why no cold air at 2nd floor. We have to have someone to open the dry wall to check the duct. It sounds too dramatic so I asked 2 other local shops to check this issue. No one can tell us straight answers. At least, they did not tell us to open the dry wall to check the duct. Eventually, we called White Mechanical again and this time, they sent an more senior technician and found out that damper for the 2nd floor air duct is not good and it is an easy fix. Luckily, we did not take the advice from their 1st technician. Recently, our tenant told us that A/C does not blow cold air anymore. We called White Mechanical again. This time, the technician told us to change capacitor and compressor saver. They do not tell us that compressor is optional and put it in the quote. I questioned it and they did not answer. I do not even see there is a compressor saver on the A/C. Even we have the compressor saver, how can both compressor saver and capacitor failed at the same time. So we get another opinion from another local shop and they just replaced the capacitor with cheaper price and everything works now. I do not trust White Mechanical anymore and you should not. Their commercial technician are probably good. However, their consumer technicians do not know anything and would recommend unnecessary works which cost more than $500. The experience we've had after the install of 32k in new equipment has been abysmal. After about 8 months into living with the new system the freon line to the downstairs unit started freezing not allowing the downstairs unit to work to cool the downstairs. White Mechanical sent out tech to diagnose. After about 30 mins he indicated there was a freon leak in the line from the unit outside to the attic upstairs and some other minor issues. Bottom line when we finally got his estimate for repairs it came in at around 6k to 8k depending on how extensive it it would be to repair the freon leak. Made numerous calls to try to schedule the repairs. Finally was able to speak to the scheduler. He indicated he wanted to send another tech out to look at the issue because as he said the first tech they sent out they had been having issues with his diagnoses and believed his diagnosis was not believable/credible. After the second tech spent about an hour looking in the attic and at both units he indicated that what the first tech came up with was "completely" wrong. The issue was with the ducting. The ducting was not the correct size and essentially would all need to be replaced. At this point alarm bells go off in my head because we've been in the house for 6 or 7 years and the original ac equipment we had White Mechanical replace had always worked without any issues but because it was original with the house - about 15 yrs old - we wanted something more energy efficient. The second tech said he was going to go back to White Mechanical and discuss things with the scheduler and then contact us to move forward. It's been a month and we have not heard one word from White Mechanical. In the interim we contacted another MORE REPUTABLE AC company, had them come out and look and fix the issue for less than $500. So again, I would STRONGLY urge whoever is reading this review and considering using White Mechanical to go elsewhere!!!!! read more

Poor HVAC experience with White Mechanical I had two HVAC Lennox Signature series units, and all my ducts were replaced by White Mechanical in 2021, who were the authorized installer for Costco at the time. My experience with them has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. Last year, both my thermostats needed replacement due to a factory defect, and the technician who came over was unprofessional, making several comments about not being paid enough. While I ignored this at the time, it should have been a red flag. I also requested two additional ducts for far-away rooms, for which they quoted an exorbitant $2,300. After reaching out to Lennox, they recommended another company who did the same work for just $1,000--a clear indication that White Mechanical's pricing was inflated. Fast forward to last week when my downstairs AC stopped working. The same technician returned and blamed me for not cleaning the overflow pipe, which I do annually. After he left, the system worked briefly and then failed again. They charged me $89 for this so-called "maintenance," despite it being under warranty. This charge was only refunded after I disputed it with Steve, their Residential Manager. A second technician identified the real issue--a faulty circuit breaker. Shockingly, White Mechanical claims they do not replace the circuit breaker when installing a new HVAC system, even though their proposal stated all electrical parts would be new. They quoted $590 for the breaker replacement, which is outrageous. A loose circuit breaker can be a source of an electrical fire. As an electrical engineer, I knew this was a rip-off and I declined the service. I purchased the same breaker for $19 from Home Depot and replaced it myself in 20 minutes. Quotes from licensed electricians in this area confirmed that the job were in the range of $75 to $130. Although the diagnostic fee was refunded, I later received an email from Steve stating that White Mechanical would no longer service my home, likely because I refused to be extorted. I will happily take my business elsewhere and advise others to do the same. In conclusion, White Mechanical overcharges and employs technicians who are not fully trained. I plan to report my experience to Lennox, Costco, and the State Licensing Board. While Costco is a great company, using their third-party vendors like White Mechanical can lead to being taken advantage of. I urge others to be cautious of this company and seek out alternative authorized service providers. The response from the owner is BS. It sound like I was at fault for not being ripped off by his employees. My entire HOA is being informed about this company that would love to extort you with their prices! White Mechanical did an awesome job installing our new AC unit and furnace. My friend recommended them, and we're so glad we chose to go with them. We initially got a quote from Gary some time in September of 2021. We didn't pull the trigger on a new system until earlier this year. Gary immediately got the ball rolling, and I believe we were able to schedule an installation within a week or so. Installation was painless, and the two inspections that followed went smoothly too. Actually, both inspectors complimented the workmanship of the White Mechanical installers. The county inspector told me about someone where the inspection failed and the person had to fork out thousands of additional dollars to get it fixed and passed for inspection. Installing a new AC unit and furnace is a huge investment, and we definitely needed some time to absorb how much it would cost us. We appreciate that Gary never pressured us into choosing White Mechanical. He showed up, provided a couple of bids and options, and then let us decide on our own time when the time would be right. We had a furnace installed two years ago by another heating and air contractor that quite working. They sent a service man out who did not have a tool he said he needed and while promised to return never did. The company said they would send out someone else and never did. I left messages for them at least a dozen times and they never called back. I contacted White Mechanical and they sent a service man the next day and he got it running in just a few minutes. Unfortunately it went out in a couple of days and they sent out a service man and he found the issue to be more complicated as the new part failed in a couple of days. They ordered more parts I believe a heat exchanger and burner assembly, came back the next day and fixed it. Working with White Mechanical has been the best experience and this business isn't an easy one from the perspective of customer service. We certainly applaud them for all of their efforts to successfully fix our problem. Backstory: Naturally, it was the hottest day of the year (early June 2022) and the air conditioner fails! And we knew that AC service crews were getting slammed with requests. Well, nothing else to do but call White Mechanical to check it out under warranty since they did an AWEsome job replacing all of the original builders stuff 6 years ago. WM dispatch (Preston, super good guy to work with) got Johnny out to check on the outside condenser unit. Yup, dead compressor. WM expressed understanding of our concern over hot weather without AC, and expedited shipping of a new compressor. Given everybody's supply chain issues these days, we thought 5 days to get a new compressor installed was amazing. Fortunately, the weather did cool off a bit so we weren't in desperation mode. New compressor went in, and started up with a loud buzzing/humming noise as if it was drawing way to much power. Hmmmm, not supposed to do that. It was cooling the house, but the noise even had the neighbors wondering how long it would last. We waited a couple of weeks, but it didn't improve so called WM again. They came right out to check it again. Conclusion: hmmmm, not supposed to sound like that. A couple of calls later had Steve (residential manager) and Kevin (senior field tech) out to confirm the problem and divine a solution. Steve went to bat for us with the manufacturer (several times in as many days) and ultimately convinced them that simply replacing the compressor again wouldn't guarantee a fix, and that replacing the whole outside condenser unit would. And so, a brand new condenser unit replaced the 6 year old one, and was expertly installed by Theo. Since the 6 year old unit was out of production a new model replaced it, all under warranty. The new unit is SO quiet, two people could have a normal conversation while standing right next to it. No loud startup relays, not even a momentary flicker of interior lights when it starts up. Plus the air inside (very subjective here) feels better (humidity control?). Bottom line, we have a much better condenser unit now and are super happy! read more

Great company. Was referred to them by 1st Choice Heating & Air due to short notice and that I had only a week and they were booked out almost 1 month ahead. My AC stopped blowing cool air and was blowing hot air at the insane summer weather to a point that my unit was hotter than outside. I called their number, and the receptionist Briana was extremely cordial and understood the urgent nature of my issue (since I had to leave town in 5 days). Fellow Yelpers, beware they retaliate for negative reviews. I just got a call about my "permit" that they reported. My advice is to do whatever White Mechanical recommends- replace all of your 18-year ducts, add returns other company's say are necessary, use their no name brand equipment with no reviews online...just pay them regardless of how much more they are charging or face the consequences. You'll find this gem in their reply to my initial bad review: "I took the liberty of looking up the "group you mentioned performed the installation for you and found they have no workers comp insurance but are running at least the crew you mentioned. I also found that there is no record of permit on your project with the County. Both of these items are not allowed by the State of California, the County of Orange and the CSLB. If you weren't aware, this can become a major liability for you in the event you have an issue with the installation performed at your home. Avoid White Mechanical at all costs!! They manage our building in Anaheim through our landlord, and they repeatedly fall below our expectations. I just set up a service call with them, and the technician Chris Shields came out an hour before the appointment, when I was not in the office. He sat in his van for over 30 minutes, then came in. He was in and out within 10 minutes before I arrived, and told an employee he could not fix the issue. He did not leave any paperwork. Today I just received a bill for the time he sat in his van in front of our office per his GPS. Also spoke with Gabriel Guizar who answered the phone, and was unprofessional and rude. He asked me if I could read after I inquired about the overcharging on the invoice. Someone that lacks communication skills like Gabriel should not have any contact with customers. I was initially having trouble with getting the heat to work, advised when I called and Amata was able to schedule us a priority service appointment. We had some issues with our heater recently. We bought it from White Mechanical over 7 years ago and they did a great job then. We called and had an appointment set up for them to come take a look at it in a few days. Before that date arrived, our heater stopped working completely. The nights were cold so I called to see if they could show up sooner. I recently had surgery and didn't want to go deal with a cold house at night. They said they would see what could be done. Shortly they called to let me know that they could have someone there that day. Theo was the tech that came out later, right when they said he would. He explained everything he was doing so I could understand it. He was great to deal with and it didn't take him long to find and fix my problem. Whenever I have an air conditioning issue, I always called white mechanical. This time Johnny came out. I had seen water dripping from two pipes high up on the side of my house. Figured it must've been some kind of a blockage somewhere. He came out and diagnosed the problem and cleaned out the pipes. He also checked both air-conditioning units outside. One had a wire that looked like it was burning. So he stripped it and reattached it. All good now. I also really like that they don't try to upsell. They only recommend fixing what absolutely must be done to ensure that your air-conditioning system works efficiently. They also have very fair prices. My experience with White Mechanical was nothing short of outstanding. I initially contacted WM through Yelp, and the scheduler contacted me immediately (under 5 minutes). She was very knowledgeable, and we scheduled an appointment for a routine "wellness check". It had been 3 or 4 years since we last had our AC unit looked at, and I just thought it was time. Mark Saldana, our assigned technician arrived at the early part of our 3-5pm window (unlike most cable companies). I showed hom the unit, the thermostat, and the manin control unit in the attic crawlspace. mark was at our home for approximately 45 minutes. You know the feeling you sometimes get when you are doing the right thing and you feel like you are about to be taken advantage of? I never had that feeling at all with White Mechanical. When Mark completed his assessment of our AC system, he informed me of three issues- a fan motor that was drawing too many amps (an indication of possible pending failure), and two additional items that fall under super preventative maintenance. mark also provided me with an accurate quote to replace the fan motor, BUT ONLY IF/WHEN IT ACTUALLY FAILS! That was the beauty of this; honesty, integrity, and professionalism. Sadly, these are qualities we all expect, but rarely receive from a home contractor. About an hour after the service call, I received via email a detailed receipt for the exact amount I was quoted. The receipt also had a detailed readout of the data taken from the functional test of our unit. Not only will I only ever trust White Mechanical with anything HVAC related in my home, I will tell everyone I know about them, and how they should take my advice and call WM. I went with this vendor as they were referred by property management. They were hired as our AC went out in our server room. They came the first time, but couldn't complete as they needed to schedule a leak search. Well the next two appointments I scheduled with them they were a no show. They didn't even provide a courtesy call either time which was the most frustrating thing. I myself called on both occasions to see what happened. They "forgot" the first appintment entirely and thought it was for the following week. The 2nd appointment their guy called out and they had no one else. We were looking to replace our HVAC system through Costco and had White Mechanical salesman to do the estimate. Their proposal came out at $42,000 to install a 4 ton heat pump. I have no idea how they came up with such a number because there's no break down list on equipment or labor. Just don't waste your time contacting them, the pricing is ridiculous.
