I cannot recommend Kalka Plumbing highly enough! My exterior home drain lines were not draining and my hardscaped backyard was flooding in heavy rain events. I called another company who tried to clear them and indicated it was impossible and that they would need to pull up hardscaping and replace the lines and quoted a 5-figure sum to do the work. I decided to get a second opinion and called Kevin at Kalka Plumbing. Kevin was incredibly honest and upfront from the start. He indicated that he should be able to clear the lines, but there may be sections that might have to be replaced but would do his best to at least clear the lines in the hardscaped areas. Kevin and his team were able to clear everything and did an excellent job cleaning up and leaving my back and front yard pristine (cleaner than when they started). Instead of pushing for the most expensive or invasive 'standard' fix, they saved me a significant amount of money and the results were exceptional. It is so rare to find a trade professional with this level of integrity and problem-solving skills. Terrible Experience - Avoid at all costs Back in November 2025, our heater would not turn on so I called Kalka and they sent out a junior technician to look at the issue. He recommended to replace a motherboard since it was "fried" on the outside AC unit. Scheduling the next appointment was a nightmare. We had something in the books so my wife was at home waiting the entire day for the guy to show up but never arrived. No text.. no call..nothing. I had to personally call the company and let them know they never arrived, they apologized and scheduled me for the following week. He arrived with the part and installed it and the unit was still failing... he didn't know what was going on so they brought out the senior technician to take a look and the bigger issue lied within the furnace in my attic which was going to cost a few grand to fix. I agreed to get this fixed and was notified the part would arrive in about 3 months or so. So here I am in February excited to get some heating and air conditioning back in our home. I call the office and it turns out they never ordered the part...... I'm flabbergasted at this point because not only did they not order the part but they quoted me a few grand higher than the original estimate. I've wasted my time and money here. I am not a complainer and this is the second review I've written on Yelp in a decade. I'm sure many can relate to this. My mother is a trusting person and 87 years old. A sales representative from Kalka Plumbing impressed her and without getting a second opinion, agreed to a $6,200+ cost to replace a hot water heater and snake an outside drain. Understandably inflation has raised costs, but this seemed extreme. So, while on a business trip I called two plumbers (both with decades of experience) and they said my mom was being gouged to the tune of between $1,200 - $1,600. After all, who would "pitch" an extended warranty to a customer that makes her pay upfront for an extended service warranty that stretches the timeline into her nineties? While Kalka Plumbing did respond to me, they were very nebulous on their pricing and hourly rate. Since the plumbers I contacted recommended me filing a report for Elder Abuse with the state licensing board, I thought a review on Yelp was also warranted. Where there is smoke, there is fire. Had a tankless water heater installed by Kalka. Installation was fine and no issues to date. NOW, have found out they did not install it to code - they installed it too close to an interior window and door - and it emits CO2 basically drafting CO2 into the house. Also, they should have installed a Descale Filter and a Sediment Trap... did not install either. I have not bothered calling Kalka to address as I've had bad service in the past (with A/C capacitor and a couple months late a whole new A/C Unit) and it's not worth it. INSTALLATION NOT TO CODE IS A BIG RED FLAG!! They should be liable. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Kalka for a long time. They've done all my heating, HVAC, and plumbing maintenance and repair for years. About seven years ago I also spent a major chunk of change with them to install a Halo water filtration system and a Navien tankless water heater. One of the reasons I purchased the Halo was because Kalka assured me that it came with a 10 warranty. More on that in a second. The point is that I was a loyal, decades long customer who had spent a lot of money with them. About a year and a half ago, Kalka came out to do routine bi-annual maintenance on my HVAC system. I have two separate systems for the upstairs and downstairs, and they informed me that the upstairs FAU had mold in it and should be repaired ASAP. I authorized them to make the repairs, which were substantial. Fast forward six months. Kalka came back to do another bi-annual maintenance. This time, they told me that both of my HVAC units should be completely replaced. Naturally, I was upset by this because I had just spent a fair amount of money on the repairs, and at no time had they indicated that the units were at the end of their life. I never would have spent the money on the repairs had I known the units would soon need to be replaced completely. Naturally, this shook my confidence in them. Strike one. I started shopping for bids on new HVAC systems and solicited four different bids including one from Kalka. I was shocked when Kalka's bid came back at 73% higher than the next lowest bid and 87% higher than the lowest bid. So much for loyalty. Strike two. A couple of weeks ago, they came to service my tankless water heater. After inspecting the unit, the technician told me that all the fittings on the unit as well as the recirculating pump needed to be replaced because of some external corrosion. The technician also told me that my Halo was no longer working and needed to be replaced. I told her that the unit was only seven years old and was covered by a 10 year warranty. I was informed that the warranty wouldn't cover it. They gave me a very expensive proposal for repairing the tankless and replacing the Halo. Not trusting them at this point, I rejected the proposal, and decided to get some second opinions. I called the manufacturer of the Halo and explained the situation. They told me that 1) The only way to know if the unit was malfunctioning was to test my water, specifically for Chlorine content, and 2) If the unit was indeed no longer working, the guarantee would be in effect and they would replace the unit. I bought a water testing kit, tested the water, and everything came up fine. The water was being filtered and the Halo was fine. I then called a plumber I had used in the past, because I was no longer using Kalka for my plumbing. I had found him to be very honest and trustworthy. He told me that I should bring in a tankless expert and gave me a referral. The tech from the tankless specialist came out and did a thorough inspection of my unit. I could tell I was dealing with true professional because he knew my tankless inside and out. The first thing he told me was that the corrosion was not that severe and did not require replacement of any parts. When he was inspecting the heat exchanger, however, he detected an abnormality. Wanting another opinion, he called the tankless manufacturer, and, using an app, they went through the unit together with the app sending live video. The technician from the tankless manufacturer confirmed that the heat exchanger was not functioning properly and recommended replacing the entire unit. Luckily for me, the heat exchanger was covered under a 10 year warranty, so they offered to send me a complete new unit for free with my only responsibility being to pay for installation. The installation cost came to about 7% of the cost that Kalka had proposed. That was it for me. Strike three, Kalka you're out. I actually feel bad writing this review. I had been with Kalka for a long , and I had met the owner, Kevin, who seemed like a decent enough person. The office manager who answers the phone is also a very friendly, nice lady. All the unnecessary repairs and bad information just became too much to ignore, however. I can no longer recommend Kalka for any plumbing or HVAC work. I recommend that you avoid them. read more

I had a great conversation with Kevin. He understood exactly what I am trying to do and we've been working closely together the last week to get him the information on my current system, specs & measurements so he could put together some options for me to upgrade the efficiency of my system or replace the air handler which already includes the higher efficiency technology I am looking to get. I look forward to what he comes up with and hope I've found the expert HVAC contractor I can rely on. I need someone I trust since I travel extensively and need my wife to be able to contact a trusted friend to make repairs when I'm not home to take care of it myself. I had their technician out for service heater and he reported a crack in the heat exchanger and recommended it be replaced (Under warranty), but the labor would be $1800 or better yet he recommended replacing the entire unit for $6300. It's only 9 years old. My general contractor sent out his HVAC technician today and he reported no crack or need to replace anything. I found Kalka Plumbing Heating & Air because they left a flyer on the door of my condo....kinda old school marketing but it worked! My condo was built in 1992 and has a crappy old "hydronics" system which uses the hot water heater to heat the home.......it's a system that is obsolete and NO ONE works on them!....except Kalka and that's why I kept the flyer. Anyway, I came home a couple weeks ago and my place was hot so I turned on the A/C.....and nothing happened......I work outside and I want to be cool when I get home!.... anyway, 5 minutes later (which seemed like forever) the A/C finally kicked on.....I was worried enough to call Kalka and have them come out and check my system and perhaps give it a "tune-up". The next day, their service tech, Adam came over and did a very thorough job checking everything.....and I mean everything......part of the stupid unit is in my ceiling in the hallway and crammed in there and the condenser is outside......the unit in the ceiling is old and Adam said could leak and flood my unit at any time cuz it's shot and the condenser looked old, rusted and abandoned...he's telling me everything I pretty much already knew!....so I asked for a price to replace this crap and update it to a complete new A/C and heating system cuz I'd rather be proactive then reactive.... While Adam was continuing to inspect my A/C and heating unit, Jordan the "comfort advisor" shows up with his fancy iPad and starts by showing me the over the top "Uranium package".....I'm joking here but I am a contractor for 30 years and tell him I just need a good quality system for a fair and reasonable price that works.....anyway, Jordan gives me an estimate for a "mid-grade" system that will vastly improve the efficiency and performance of my existing unit AND at a fair and reasonable price.......which is exactly what I wanted. A few days later I give Jordan the go ahead after I chatted with another A/C company that said my existing system is a nightmare to work on and even suggested I go with Kalka because their price was fair and that company would charge the same or even more but DOESN'T WORK ON MY TYPE OF SYSTEM......that's what sealed it for me! The install crew showed up right away and were courteous, hardworking and respectful of my property.....did everything go perfect, no....BUT....they handled the hiccups like a good contractor should!....they had the wrong part......they spilled water on my ceiling removing the water filled unit in my ceiling (which was hard to remove!) and it took an extra day and I had 1 night of not-so-good sleep listening to the unit running all night (because it was the wrong part)......but Kalka made good on ALL of these hiccups.....they primed and painted the ceiling (and around the new thermostat), replaced the wrong part with the correct part and helped me set-up the thermostat app on my phone so I can control my new system with my phone..... The whole experience using Kalka to replace my entire A/C & heating system was an effortless and refreshing project and now I have an awesome energy efficient A/C system that will not only save me $$$ but provide me many years of worry-free service......AND......increase the value of my home as it was a very wise investment! After 20 years, we finally had to face the facts and replace our HVAC system. While these types of expenditures are never fun, I'd love to take the opportunity to recommend Kalka Plumbing Heating and Air, and also thank them for their service. To begin with, they were very prompt and accommodating. We called on the 4th of July and we were able to get a technician over to our house on July 5th. We knew our AC units were on their last legs for a couple years. After it was determined our issues were beyond repair, Kalka did a great job walking us through our options. Michael was extremely knowledgeable and helpful (and patient) as we worked together on a solution that would fit our budget and meet our needs. Once the paperwork was signed, an installation crew immediately got to work. Nobody is ever excited to have workers at their house for multiple days, but I really appreciated how courteous and friendly the employees were. Aaron and his team were very polite, hardworking and approachable with any questions. At the end of the day we were very impressed with our experience with Kalka and walked away feeling confident about our new equipment, the installation, and the price we paid --- Not to mention it's nice and cool in our house again!!! Please think twice about using Kalka! First, they tell you one thing on the phone and then the story changes when the tech arrives! They came to drain my water heater under my warranty at "no charge". My wife calls me to tell me that they sent 2 technicians and they said there "will be" a charge! Then my wife hears one of the technicians in our bathroom, removing our stuff out of the vanity. When we asked what they were doing, the tech said that they were going to do a "full house" inspection to sell us a service package/plan. I called the office and questioned what was going on, and they confirmed their attempt to sell us a package or plan. I ordered them to finish the water heater and leave! Later that night I find that they DID NOT bleed the air out of the water lines and my aerators got plugged! I had to replace all of my now plugged aerators. Then a few days later my AC would not work because the thermostat was dead. I called out someone else to fix the problem and we found that Kalka removed the cover from my HVAC unit in the garage during their inspection and didn't reinstall the cover correctly and thus my HVAC system would not work! I reinstalled the covers properly and thankfully, the HVAC/thermostat unit worked again. This "free" Kalka work cost me new aerators and a service call by a competitor to fix the things their inexperienced technicians did not do properly!! I called to talk to a manager after this HVAC issue and no one has called back yet. I would think twice about ever using them! Nancy is very helpful when you call in, but who knows what their technician will do when they arrive and what they will charge you. I truly feel that the "free" water heater work was just a way to find more work. Why else would they send 2 people to do a 20 minute job for free? Buyer beware!! read more
