Solid diner open 24 hours. Chicago historical diner spot ! Can't go wrong/ they offer pretty much everything . That's nice for People who work late or odd hours. Always friendly service and the set up is cool. We love the murals and the cakes also. Park to park outside or CTa line.... Tuna melt , on rye, had fresh tomatoes and American yellow cheese melted on top. Pickles on the side. I think the fries could be a little more crispy, but very nice meal. Spot on with the taste. Well plated also. Typical diner food. Creamy chicken lemon rice soup, delicious. Good value.

White Palace is like walking back into 1939 when it first opened. The quintessential diner with cute booths and wall art, it's a fun place to go with the family or friends any time of day (it's 24 hours). On the menu, keep an eye out for the items surrounded by the red box because those are their specialties, and there are quite a few. The service is very quick and friendly. I ordered the Reuben, and it was delicious, with the corned beef sliced perfectly thin and gooey cheese. My partner had a chorizo omelet, and he thought it was okay.

I'd just finished a most excellent visit at the most excellent Vitalogy on Dearborn, and I was in the mood for something hearty. I assumed I'd just grab some fast food but then I walked right by an extremely old-school-looking diner called White Palace Grill. Who could say no to that? I walked inside and the place was exactly what I wanted it to be. It looked like it hadn't been updated in decades. I loved it. My server was pretty surly and impatient but again, that's exactly what I want from a place like this. After perusing the extensive menu, I finally settled on the Philly Cheese Steak ("Sliced steak with mushrooms, onions and green peppers, smothered with melted cheese"). It arrived to the table about 10 minutes later and sure looked amazing. And yeah, it's exactly the kind of greasy, cheesy meal I was hoping for. Do I wish the pieces of steak hadn't been quite so tough and chewy? Of course. But did I enjoy it anyway? Heck yeah. The copious melty cheese compensates for a lot here, as do the sautéed veggies. White Palace Grill was exactly what I needed in that moment. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

We just ordered simple breakfast meal after a night of drinking, it was very busy and not a whole lot of room in the restaurant. Lots of to go orders being prepared! the staff was very friendly! They took good care of us we never had to ask for anything!

    So yummy!

I always wanted to come but never had time. Food was decent for diner food but the staff was just so incredibly sweet, helpful and generous with service and portions that I greatly enjoyed it!

White Palace Grill is a true Chicago staple -- and if you know, you know. Open 24/7, it's one of those iconic spots that's seen the city at every hour. I've been here many times, but this was my first visit at a "reasonable" hour -- and wow, what a different vibe (in a good way)! We came with a party of nine, including family visiting from Mississippi, and they were all impressed. The food did not disappoint! I had the burger -- juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Also tried the liver and onions -- absolutely amazing. Comfort food done right. Now let me give a special shoutout to our server, Patrick -- double amazing. Honestly, a great server can make or break your dining experience, and Patrick made ours. He was friendly, patient with our big group, and gave spot-on recommendations. He didn't just sell us on the popular dishes; he gave honest opinions that helped us order what we'd truly enjoy. And let me tell you -- it worked. His personality and attention made the food taste even better. That kind of energy is priceless. Our whole family left full, happy, and talking about the experience. From the classic diner feel to the warm service and satisfying plates, White Palace Grill remains one of my go-to favorites in Chicago. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this is one of those places that never lets you down. Go hungry, and if you're lucky -- ask for Patrick!

My food falling through the bottom of the container.

I placed an online order for pickup on my way to work. Pickup was quick and easy, but when I got to work the food started falling out of the container into the bag. The food had been placed in the bag too hot and stacked on top of another container, which caused the containers to fuse together and pull apart when I lifted it. I called the restaurant to report the issue and was told I would need to bring the food back to receive a credit. I explained that I was already at work until 2 PM and even offered to send a photo, but that wasn't accepted. Being asked to come back later in St. Patrick's Day traffic just wasn't reasonable. I've been coming to White Palace Grill for over 13 years while working in the medical district, so this was disappointing. I hope management reviews their packaging and how situations like this are handled, because the customer service used to be much better.

Went there for dinner around 5 pm as it was just at the bus stop we dropped and were too tired to walk elsewhere so we dicided to give it a try . This place definitely doesn't hesitate wheen it comes to size burger in my opinion was quite big but if you like bacon you got some for your money they do put A LOT of bacon in your burger which compared to the cheese ratio was a bit disproportionned . Our waitress was really nice maybe a bit rushy for us to take our orders before we could even check on the menu but very good service otherwise. Also glad to mention that once we chose the place we discovered it been featured on DDD the TV show with Guy Fiery back in 2008 . Surely a good place that I recommand while in Chicago and it's open 24/7 and serves breakfast 24/7 so little bonus points right there ;)

We've been meaning to try out this Chicago staple for awhile and we're so happy we did! Love the classic diner ambiance, service was super friendly and attentive, and the food was comforting and a great serving size for the price. We got: - onion rings: very good with ranch - biscuits and gravy with sausage: not the best we've ever had, but a big portion - fried catfish: tons of sides and the catfish was cooked well with a good breading - chocolate chip pancakes: the highlight of the meal, definitely get these!! Super fluffy and big We would definitely come back!

Every place has a 24x7 place but this restaurant is the place to be especially in the city late at night. I had to get the 2x2x2x2x meal. The food was great and exactly what I needed and on time. I would say if you need something late night don't forget to stop by for a meal.

Perfect 24/7 joint. Went at like 4am on Christmas Eve after my friend's night shift and it was exactly what I needed it to be at that hour (a lil melancholy, and as some would say, a liminal space). Extensive menu, featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives, rightfully. Solid breakfast hash

The country fried steak was so yummy. They have a really good gravy. Eggs and hash browns were pretty typical for diner food, nothing special. Decent coffee too! Service was quick and our server was kind.

So I came here after a night of drinking and got the BLT, cornbeef hash, side of sausage links and hash browns. Nothing special about the hash browns or the sausage links. Both are straight from the grocery store. Charged a quarter because it was carry out. Are you kidding me??? Cornbeef and the BLT was good. Service was ok. Being 24 hours is a huge plus. The place is a staple of Canal Street.

The menu is filled with many of the typical diner favs and what they're known for is they bake their own breads, so I knew I needed to try that. Soon after sitting down, our server brought us a homemade donut hole with a slice of orange. That donut hole was so very tasty! I also got unsweetened iced tea to drink and that was freshly made and also tasted great. For my entrée, I opted for their open face tuna sandwich, which has melted American cheese on top of it and the combo of the tuna, cheese, and their amazing bread was so very good! The tuna is definitely not your ordinary tuna from a restaurant, it's high-quality, thick pieces and hardly has any mayo in it. And this portion was HUGE! I couldn't eat it all. It came with their homemade fries and cole slaw - the cole slaw was excellent and the fries were pretty good, sort of "homestyle breakfast potato" type of flavor, but a big, thick, square, beautiful fry, it just was a little soft, not very crunchy... it was very good though. Overall, we all loved what we got - would definitely return!

They were a bit short-staffed that morning, so service was slower than usual, but we weren't in a hurry and the staff remained friendly throughout. I ordered the daily special French toast, added fruit and pecans, plus a side of bacon. The French toast was absolutely massive and could easily be shared. My only complaint was the $3.75 charge for pecans, which felt a little steep for the amount included. Overall, the food was good, the diner atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping for, and there's something special about dining in such a historic Chicago institution. If you're visiting the city and don't mind a bit of a wait, Lou Mitchell's is worth experiencing at least once.

The staff wore their retro fits and mingled with the patrons. The bright neon, the teal and turquoise walls, and the hot pink accents were phenomenal. I absolutely loved the color scheme. The black-and-white tile definitely took it back to the diners from back in the heyday. Not my day, but somebody's day, okay?! And they put on a whole show! The staff started singing "Car Wash," and listen, it was a total vibe. They are loud, okay? They might sing right up on you and have you sitting there like, "Okayyyy!!!!" But it was never disrespectful. That is simply the aura and energy they bring, and we were here for it. Every time you go out for breakfast, you don't want just a meal, okay?
