Searching for somewhere to get dessert and coffee while visiting family, I came across Sweet Life Dessert Experience. Once I read "a restaurant that serves only dessert", I had to check it out. Dessert for lunch sounded extra fun, so we dined pretty much right after they opened at noon (on a Saturday). The restaurant is really open and spacious, but the tables are set up in a ways that you feel separated from other tables (which is a bonus). The staff was attentive and friendly. I dined with 4 other people, who all left happy and beyond full. The portions size is huge and definitely big enough to share between 2 people if you are stopping in for actual dessert after dinner. I ordered The Chocolate Dilemma (a recommendation by our waitress) on a waffle and it was almost too much to eat, but I had skipped breakfast to be sure I had room and left nothing behind. Overall, I would recommend this place (any time of day). The prices are a little high for dessert, but the portion size you get feels appropriate. I don't think 1tbsp of Nutella was used to make my order. It was extremely frustrating to see this after driving back with a take out. There are so many places in Buffalo to get homemade ice cream. I'm always down to try new spots for ice cream and am always pleasantly surprised when I find yet another place that is very individualized from everyone else. The Choco-Tella ice cream is a nice sweet and creamy chocolate flavor that does not take away from all of the other flavors and textures of the waffle dessert. The sit down restaurant looks like a great experience with a cozy and modern atmosphere but I decided to dine out. That being said, I couldn't believe that my ice cream stayed frozen in the to go cup they gave me for 15-20 minute ride home. Will definitely be back soon for more dessert! read more

For $20.18 you got to chose 2 (fairly large) desserts and two teas from the list, WHAT A DEAL! I decided to go with the mint tea and the death by chocolate, which you guessed it, was a whole lot of chocolate. Death by chocolate was a piece of chocolate cake, with chocolate ice cream, chocolate fudge, and even some whip cream (it was not chocolate whip cream). Needless to say, it was absolutely delicious. Not only is the desserts here amazing, but the place itself looks very cool inside, and the staff is super friendly too. After having dinner this weekend, my fiance and I decided to go get dessert at this location that we had heard so much about. I originally wanted to go to see what the Yelp Special was (all through the month of July, participating ice cream places have a $5 special that is unique to their business and a dollar of the proceeds goes to Mercy Flight). It turns out that the Yelp Special at this place is great for gluten lovers since it has a waffle cone and brownie pieces involved, but not so great for people with gluten allergies, like myself. My fiance and I sat down at this beautiful spot and ordered a gluten free waffle with nutella ice cream, bananas, and praline pieces. When I say it's beautiful here, I seriously mean it. It's almost as if a Victorian Alice in Wonderland ended up in this place, liked the desserts, and decided to decorate. The waitresses are all very sweet and ours was no exception. More on that later. Our delicious waffle arrived shortly after ordering. I immediately began to pig out significantly, not wasting a single bite of nutella scrumptiousness or delightful banana. Halfway done with it, my fiance and I looked at each other and wondered where the praline was. I spoke up and mentioned it to our waitress, who quickly looked into it. Turns out they changed the recipe but not the menu description, so she brought over a serving of the praline by itself while apologizing profusely. We had pretty much finished, but used what we could of the sweet and crunchy praline. Our waitress ended up knocking some money off the bill for us, which was greatly appreciated. Honestly, I would give this place 5 stars if it weren't for the prices. The waffle was $14! Thankfully it was all we ordered, but that's still a fair amount. I had Bond Apple Cinna Bond and my Husband had Son of Strawberry both with the crepe and they were pretty crappy! The apples appeared to be canned apples even though they boast that everything is made in-house. The crepe tasted like nothing, it had no flavor of it's own and didn't absorb any of the apple or strawberry flavors either. Very cool little place. I stopped in for the yelp ice cream adventure and I was a happy to find out how nice the place was. Inside had nice seating. Service was good. They were very quick to help. Then, I tried the sundae and it was excellent! They took the opportunity in this adventure to show off how they have more than the typical flavors like regular chocolate/vanilla, and it was great! All of the ingredients in the sundae were very fresh. Were out and about in Amherst and decided to look for a fun dessert place to top off the evening. While Sweet Life isn't bad necessarily, I probably wouldn't go back and wouldn't really recommend it. It's the type of dessert that looks great for an Instagram post but doesn't taste very satisfying or special. The atmosphere of the place is cute - bright colors, high quality decor and seating areas. Staff was friendly enough and attentive given how busy the place was. I ended up ordering a 1 scoop sundae with their peanut butter ice cream topped with brownies and chocolate fudge. The boyfriend ordered a slice of the flourless chocolate cake. Took quite awhile for the desserts to come out, which was understandable given how busy they were (lots of families out at 8pm on a Saturday). Though my sundae looked impressive, it was definitely made with chocolate ice cream instead of peanut butter - a bummer, but chose not to make a stink about it because I didn't feel like waiting another 25 minutes for another sundae to be made. Quality of the ice cream and brownie was about what you'd expect from an Applebee's - not remarkable in flavor or texture, brownie pretty hard and chewy like it'd been frozen at some point, etc. Boyfriend's chocolate cake was along the same lines. I guess maybe that's what we should've expected going in, but we had been hoping it'd be more of local bakery sort of feel/quality as opposed to a mass marketed chain style atmosphere. Prices were what was to be expected at that type of place, expect to spend about $10 per person and then tip in addition to that since it's table service. Hands down, one of our favorite dessert establishments in Buffalo! One of the best parts about Sweet Life is its hours. Often my girlfriend and I are in the mood for dessert and realize that the only place open at that time is Sweet Life. Before Sweet Life, the only other option was to go to Wegmans or someplace else with late hours and buy a dessert. Sweet Life is definitely a treat-the portions are sizely, so we typically share a dessert (with the exception of restaurant week). Her favorite creations are with a waffle and ice cream, as it is a bit easier to eat than the crepe. We love how fresh and tasty the homemade ingredients are and how quick and friendly the service is--usually we have noticed the owners helping behind the counter, etc, which goes to show how dedicated this business is to their customers!
