This place was unsanitary. Residents of Forest Hills have been complaining about it for years and the inspector finally closed it.
Went for Saturday brunch and enjoyed the White Radish burger which had a fried egg on top. It came with fries as well. I struggled getting the burger to fit in my mouth. Cooked perfectly and delicious flavors. Service was a little lacking-- never refilled my water until we waved down someone. The place was not packed so it wasn't noisy. We were seated right next to the bar and could have a conversation.
The stars were given just for service, not the quality of the service... the service was good. The food should get only 2 stars. The drinks were beh... yes that's a technical term. The watermelon and feta salad was pretty.. and that's about it.. it was served in a checkered pattern and that's it.. almost no seasoning whatsoever! The ravioli, frankly tasted like is was the fresh pasta you buy at Costco with a watered down cream sauce with a few drops of truffle oil on top.. The duck 2 ways... well, they shouldn't have done one of the ways... it was so dry! The beast was nicely cooked, and luckily it was served on top of some terribly cooked cubes veggies, but it was lucky because the veggies kept it from touching this terrible pineapple based sauce. We sat outside on a beautiful day, ava it was nice but for the homeless woman yelling at us for a couple of minutes.
Celebrated a birthday here in an intimate setting. The staff, especially Carlos, were so accommodating. The food was delicious and the service was amazing!
I've been eating here since the beginning and came with my family for Easter dinner yesterday mainly because I saw recently the restaurant was in the news of needing local support. There's a petition on change.org that you can easily join if you pass by the restaurant and scan the QR code. I have loved White Radish from when they first opened and I will say their food has remained consistently good (prices have gone up significantly though, but that's understandable especially if you see the sad news article about how they've been impacted by the LIRR construction) and delicious throughout the years, and the ambiance is still beautiful (seems maintained well), and the staff are very friendly. Despite the price increases (which I have to admit make it hard to come frequently), I do think the food is worth the price because it continues to be delicious, fresh, and still generous portions. I really wish they would have Specials. This is my personal opinion only, but for a restaurant that's a neighborhood local - if you want "regulars" to come back on a regular basis, you have to offer some variety. I know they introduced the Daikon menu so that's new, but it's more or less the same menu since 2020. I used to go to Jack & Nellie's several times a month because they had weekly specials so you wouldn't get bored of the menu. I think White Radish could benefit from seasonal specials since they are farm to table, and diff veggies/fruits are always better during different seasons. I also think if prices were lower, you could get more traffic and more regular business (at least I can speak for myself as I know I'd eat here more often), but again I understand the financial situation they're in and it's really not their fault. So I'm happy to keep supporting this local favorite however I can. Ps forgot to take photos yesterday but I got the Chicken (still as yummy as it was day 1), the Sauteed Brussels - delish and perfectly cooked, the mussels (wow the sauce is something you want to drink), and the dessert cake - perfect and not overly sweet or dense - nice and light and makes you feel like it's guilt-free!
Meh. Food is average. They added an attached sushi restaurant and it looks ok but after having eaten at white radish I wouldn't bother. Not impressed at all. Service is good and servers are very nice. But, the food was sub par. Pickles on the pork belly sliders have zero taste. The pork belly was cold and fatty. The fries were good though. The Caesar salad was average. Not worth $14. The scallops and shrimp app was ok. Not exciting. The bread pudding was good but again, not worth writing home about. The decaf coffee was very good and very hot!!! Would not return. And it's a weird combo of restaurants.
Interestingly enough, I was surprised to find that this restaurant is also preparing and serving the Japanese food for the restaurant Daikon, which is next door but accessible from White Radish. My friend took full advantage of this fact and had miso soup and two sushi rolls. The miso soup was very salty, like more than I've tasted before in miso soup; but the depth of flavor was rich and robust. Considering it was 21 degrees outside, I was happy to taste it and drink the warmth. I chose the Halibut with ratatouille and a basil cream sauce for dinner and it was truly spectacular. The fish was cooked to perfection and the juxtaposition of flavors was really unexpected but awesome. The service was friendly and attentive, and I look forward to my next visit.
Stopped by White Radish for lunch and really enjoyed the experience. We had the chicken Milanese sandwich, steak panini, burrata, and mango shrimp salad. The burrata was creamy and fresh, paired nicely with ripe tomatoes and greens -- simple and well-executed. The mango shrimp salad stood out with its refreshing balance of sweetness and acidity, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. The chicken Milanese sandwich and steak panini were both flavorful and satisfying -- hearty, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care. Service was excellent -- Anton was warm, friendly, and made us feel welcome right away. Food came out quickly and was nicely presented. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared and enjoyable. Would definitely come back for another lunch or dinner.
The sushi is great here and nice atmosphere but service needs a lot of improvement . I've given it 2 try's so far and both times bad service. We sat down at sushi bar and we were the only ones in there. Why doesn't anyone approach us for a drink order? Both times we were tired of waiting so we went into bar area next door to get our drinks. Also had to flag someone down any time we needed anything including the bill. The service really needs to improve or you won't last! I don't think I'll be back
I'm only giving this place four stars and not five due to the service. It could've been much better, but the servers were sometimes nowhere to be seen or have forgotten about us. We had to ask them multiple times for different things, and shouldn't water be refilled without asking for it?! Oh yes, and there's no need to make reservations here. There's plenty of seating. Regarding the food, we had the burrata, which was pretty good. I had the pesto shrimp dish with noodles. I finished it all as I liked the entire dish. The salted caramel bundino was different. I had to look it up as I didn't know what it was, and the waiter was nowhere to be seen to ask. Once the waiter came back, he wanted our order asap. Anyway, I won't be returning bc the staff has to be better. The food was alright, so in that aspect, there is no need to change, but maybe the people working there need a deep dive on how to be a customer focused.
I absolutely adore this little brunch spot in the heart of Forest Hills. The atmosphere is on point with upbeat but not overbearing house music, rustic yet classy decor, and tables that are reasonably spaced (I'v been to too many cafes where I feel like I am elbow to elbow with other patrons). They also have a full bar which is amazing. The food came out quickly, and the staff checked on us a few times during our meal. I got the smoked salmon avocado toast with a mimosa (just a couple of dollars more for the upgrade from regular OJ!) and it came with SO much smoked salmon. I could not believe it was only one portion, I ended up sharing some with my partner and still had more than enough left for myself. Quality was also top notch, the salmon was fresh and not mushy. I think the price is a bit higher than what I would expect from the area, but it was still worth it. I would love to come back to try some other brunch fares.
Came here because of the hype listed as one of the best brunch spots in the area. Honestly, was a bit disappointed. The service was great. The servers were super nice, pretty attentive, and got us in quickly since we had a reservation. Didn't expect a reservation to be necessary but they were turning people away (Sunday around noon). The menu for brunch was a bit on the limited side, $27 for each item with up charges for certain things. This price is somewhat unwarranted. For example, the vegetable omelette with no meat is included in this $27 price. As was the eggs benedict with no meat, a chicken sandwich, and chicken and waffles, all things I would expect to be cheaper. Cocktails were an additional $15 each, which is pretty pricey for the ambience of the spot. We went with the chicken & waffles and the steak tips sandwich. The former was fine. It came with blueberries and strawberries, an unexpected addition. I appreciated that the chicken was drumsticks instead of traditional breasts, and they were huge drumsticks. However, the breading itself was a little lackluster and fairly dense. The latter, the steak tips, was a bit better. It's served on focaccia with a nice chipotle mayo sauce and it comes with a good amount of meat. The fries it came with were standard, nothing to rave about. In retrospect, probably would have rather given this place a chance for dinner and going somewhere else for brunch. It's attached to a cute sushi restaurant I would consider trying.
Came here for brunch with friends last weekend and was pleasantly pleased. We made reservations for noon since during the summer this place can get packed during peak brunch hours. Since it was the day of Christmas Eve it was pretty empty with only about 3-4 tables until around 1pm when it started to fill up. When we arrived we were seated right away, presented menus and ordered coffee to start while we perused the menu. Brunch is a prix-fixe menu $26.95 for each item with added $ for certain options. I didn't realize it came with a drink (coffee/tea it seems from some other reviews?) so I didn't order one, though the staff did announce $2 for the first mimosa with brunch...so I wasn't going to say no to that! Food came out quickly within 10-15 minutes of ordering, and we were quite surprised by the very ample serving sizes. My friend had to use a fork and knife for her burger bc it was too large to hold lol. The steak panini was likewise very sizable and both came with a solid amount of good fries (*and by good I mean crispy on the outside of the fries). The steak and eggs were perfectly cooked, with a fresh tasty salad, though the potato hash was a bit soft and bland imho. My chicken and waffles were delicious--the fried batter could have used slightly more seasoning but the inside of the chicken was moist and tender. Two drumsticks was generous. The waffle was soft and fluffy with fresh berries. I would order this again. Overall impressions were it's a bit on the higher priced side for brunch, though a comparable value for the portions and I'm adding on an extra star since service was friendly and helpful, (oh yea and that $2 mimosa).

First time coming here with my love and we just finished our appetizers (we chose both the raw & baked oysters) and we're absolutely floored. From the minute we walked in down from the service to our food, everything has been top notch. Dinner was everything we wanted and more. Can't rave more about this place and we will definitely be back. read more

Came in with a girlfriend for a quick brunch and ... wow! The server was so nice! Checked in on us, but I didn't feel rushed. We got the oysters and the octopus as appetizers which were amazing! They even split the octopus into two separate dishes, so nice! But...the truffle short rib ravioli stole the show. It's literally what dreams are made of! read more

Went here for the first time last night to celebrate my birthday with a friend. The food and drinks were delicious. Our waiter was very nice and he took some great pictures of my friend and I. I loved the little birthday message on dessert. Can't skip their desserts for sure. Hard to say if the key lime pie or the bread pudding was more delicious! I love truffle sauce and to have it on salmon was yummy and unique. I'm very picky but I'll be back! Also a nice selection of mocktails for those of us trying to cut back on drinking. Came back to White Radish for dinner after coming once for lunch and we were so happy we did! Delicious food and terrific service. We especially loved the octopus appetizer, radish burrata salad and seafood pasta. read more

White Radish is a New American/farm-to-table-ish restaurant. I ordered delivery through Grubhub. The food arrived in about an hour. Plenty of napkins and utensils. The Grubhub menu was somewhat vague. Raw oysters for $12--it didn't specify how many oysters there were. White Radish's website suggests it's $2 each, but they ended up sending me 12 for $12. Either they made a mistake or this was during happy hour. Either way, I'm not complaining. The oysters came with cocktail sauce and a mignonette. A few lemon wedges would have been nice--not sure why they left that out. The oysters on offer were blue point (Long Island) and beausoleil (New Brunswick). The beausoleil were an interesting choice and not that common. Also not that common: fresh oysters in a delivery order, so props to White Radish for that. Littleneck clams: $9 per order. Grubhub menu didn't say how many here either. There were 6 clams in the bag. NY strip: nicely cooked and they got the doneness right. Somewhat gristly--not the best piece of beef, but OK for $33. read more

Ehh this place was ok. I went with a large group of friends and under a reservation after we all arrived we were quickly seated outside. The burger (any kind) is enormous. I was insanely full and had to deconstruct it to eat it but if you're looking for a bang for your buck that's the way to go. The ravioli come in small portions and the cauliflower is overrated. Excellent food and service: The Branzino was perfectly cooked and flavored. The baked oysters had this amazing sauce that we asked for more bread to enjoy all of the extra sauce: lobster ravioli and hamburger were also enjoyed in my group. Oh and one of the best key lime pies I have ever had! We also had a delicious and fairly priced bottle of wine. read more

Food was good! Duck Two ways was yummy though I would've liked it a bit less cooked. Short ribs ravioli was delish! Meat was soft and full of flavors, which balanced really well with the sauce. Branzino was cooked just right and perfectly paired with lightly dressed salad. Not so generous with the portion but they are just right. Could definitely use a little bit more of the sides for some of the dishes and some dishes completely lacked any sides like the steaks. Oysters weren't as fresh but the charred octopus was good! More importantly, service was top notch. Will definitely return! read more

I've had the seafood tagliatelle, lobster roll and oxtail croquettes. The seafood tagliatelle is sooo yummy, packed with flavor and lots of mussels, clams and shrimp. Plenty of noodles too! The oxtail croquettes are also really creamy and flavorful too. I didn't love the lobster roll though. Portion size was very small and I thought the bread was a little dry and not enough lobster. Just didn't feel worth it for the cost. Also the French fries to go with the roll were way too thin and crispy and they fell apart very easily and didn't have a satisfying feel. But overall I'd go back for that mixed seafood tagliatelle everytime! read more

We really enjoyed our first experience overall. The staff is still working out some of the service kinks, but everyone was very pleasant and overly accommodating. The food was really delicious and certainly a cut above most offered in Forest Hills. While there is no liquor license currently, there are mocktails that are very well-executed and more than compensate for the time being. We're really excited to visit again and sample more on the menu! read more

When I first saw the menu I was so excited. Finally got an opportunity to go before the weather got cold. They have outdoor seating but it was uncomfortable as I felt I was sitting crooked on the sidewalk. The food service was quite slow but I was starving so it might've just felt that way. I asked for the burrata app to be served first because I was so hungry but it came out the same time as the entrees which was slightly annoying. The weather was breezy and chilly so my entree was getting cold while I ate my appetizer. Ultimately I opted to eat the entree first. The burrata was fresh and delicious but the radishes added nothing except for presentation, and it was a beautiful presentation. The dough of my short rib ravioli was way undercooked where you can see dry raw flour on the inside. Our server was nice enough to take it away and bring me a new one. It was a slight wait for the re-fire and when it came out, all the meat fell out of one of the ravioli. Although the truffle cream sauce was delicious, this was still unacceptable considering it was a $22 dish with only four ravioli. I didn't feel like bringing it to our server's attention again. My boyfriend ordered the brunch burger that wasn't served with an egg (he didn't realize until he was done eating) so we didn't bother bringing it up. However, the burger was overcooked on the outside and raw in the middle. The server offered to bring him another one but he was too hungry to wait fir a new one. He just ate around the raw meat in the center. At the end of our meal, they brought us a slice of key lime pie on the house. The pie was quite delicious. This is THE spot to go. The service, food and ambiance are superior to many! The food is extremely fresh, homemade and tastes just like home cooking. Although, they are new to the area, we are so thankful that they are because this is the new "go-to" spot because they have everything yummy, from Filet Mignon tip sandwiches, to the best seafood pasta I have had in all of my years traveling the world in a saffron sauce that will knock your socks off. Don't miss out, and make a reservation because this place is popular! Plus they have brunch coming soon! ***No liquor license at this time, not sure if they will in the future. Came here randomly because I heard they had crab eggs benedict and was surprised! The crab eggs benedict and chicken and waffles were not bad however the wait was longer than I prefer, and there was very little crab in my eggs benedict. read more

We were driving in Forest Hills area when we saw this cute little restaurant and decided to give it a try. We all loved the place. The food was delicious and the stuff were really nice. I was looking for pasta with red sauce because thats the only pasta my son eats. They didnt have it but they made him butterred pasta instead and it was good! We also ordered crispy calamari, short ribs (and this is beef so i was happy) ravioli, seafood tagiatelle, and truffle fries. All were delicious. So we will def come back to try other menu. read more

Went for Sunday brunch this past weekend and was thoroughly impressed with The White Radish Burger. I've heard good things about this restaurant from other friends who live in the area, but I was just not prepared. This finely crafted burger is Excuisite! It's also Enormous. We came here for brunch. The menu is relatively traditional brunch fare with a few twists. $20 plus coffee/drink. Eggs benedict with salmon was nicely done and with just enough smoked salmon to get it salty but not overpowering. Burger with half beef and bacon was juicy and flavorful. I thought it was great in flavor profile. Only con is that the burger was too tall to actually eat as one, had to use fork and knife. I would definitely come back here to read more

Portions keep getting smaller and smaller. I get that times are tough for restaurants but after a certain point it's not worth it for me to spend nearly $30 for an appetizer portion. Also got the shrimp and scallops appetizer, it came with 2 pieces of shrimp and 2 scallops $16, pic attached read more
