I opted for a build-your-own bowl with chicken, which came out to just under $20 before tip. At first, that felt a little pricey to me, but the portion size was absolutely massive. Honestly, it was large enough to easily make two meals, which made the value feel much better. The woman helping me was incredibly friendly and even let me sample three different dressings before deciding. I also appreciated that you can get your dressing on the side if you prefer. All 3 I tried were good, but all very different, and I'm glad I had a chance to try them! One thing to note is that it was fairly warm inside the business, which gave me a little pause considering it's a salad-focused concept. That said, everything tasted fresh and high quality. There were only two employees working during my visit on a Wednesday around 6:30, and with about 4-5 people ahead of me, it took around 20 minutes to place my order, get my bowl made, and check out. The staff was working hard, and being incredibly helpful, but if you're in a hurry, just plan accordingly. Overall, I'd definitely return. It's nice to have a quality salad option at Boxyard, the ingredients were fresh, the portions were generous, and the service was helpful and kind. First, this is now a family business and as a result they are almost always understaffed. Usually only one person seating folks, taking orders, making drinks (when they know how,,) running tables, refilling drinks, preparing and paying checks, etc.. all the same person. With one or two more in the kitchen. There is sometimes a language barrier as well. Bottom line, decent food (the birra tacos and hotdogs are solid) a bit pricy because of the neighborhood but otherwise an okay time. Hope they get the other part of the building opened and can hire more help at some point.
