Last time coming here not good anymore . This place has really fallen apart over the years. It like the owner could care less either. The food is so I ln consistent. One time it will be ok the next day it horrible for the same food. The pizza is really good, but sometimes not cook all the way and doughy other times best pizza I've eatin. View of the lake is great. Draught beer always has that sour taste like they never clean the lines and it sits and rots, and once you get that taste it throws off the entire meal. So for St Patrick's day my wife and I chose this restaurant. My wife's food was good a corned beef Ruben but my half slab of ribs was horrible tasted like freezer burn. They replaced it with ribs to go. As it turned out that order was just as bad. So $22 for freezer burned food not so good. Our server was excellent she tried her best to take care of us. We have eaten twice in July. First time very few patrons and food served quickly. This second time almost tables were full. The staff were working as quickly as possible to accommodate. The food is good for breakfast. Last time order Greek omelet with toast and hash browns. two people could have shared this meal. this time I toned it done and it was just right. Such a cute little bar! Stopped here on the way back from a Michigan game and have never heard of Whitmore Lake despite being a resident here. Anyways, the potato skins and the rest of the food was good, just wasn't sure that the grilled cheese I had was worth $13. I do understand though that this is probably family owned restaurant, so completely understandable! The service was great, the busser was so kind and friendly and came back every time we were done with something to get it out of our way. Stopped at the Whitmore Lake Tavern tonight on a whim. SO glad we did. Service was terrific from the moment we walked in until we were finished. Family owned vibe, very caring, checking in during the meal, and smiles. Food was yummy and there was a very good selection. I ended up with the Tavern Burger which was too big to finish. Wish I'd been hungry enough to eat one of the yummy-sounding salads, too! We'll have to go back, soon. Best small town tavern ever! Came here for my birthday dinner because they have gluten free options. YES! You heard me right! A small town tavern has gluten free pizzaaaaaa. A Wednesday at 4pm will get you any seat in the house. If they have their outdoor igloos up, make sure you call ahead to reserve one. The ambience is super casual and laid back. The service was prompt and the food was delicious. We have officially found our new pizza joint. They also have great decor that'll continue to catch your eye. read more

We chose this due to location. Probably not the best criteria! It is truly the only game in town! A local waterfront bar, a little long of tooth with an extremely small (and windy) outdoor patio. The negatives: They charge a fee if you use a credit card, drink refills are not free, the Catsup is not Heinz's, the inside has a musty smell, and the road between the Tavern and the Lake is very busy(and a little loud!) Prices seemed a little high. The pluses: terrific service staff, not crowded when we were there, large parking lot, clean rest room and the food wasn't bad. The Angus burger is just a frozen Patty, but was well cooked, topped with very nice bacon and served in a nice bun. I liked the chips--very crunchy. Companion had the chili--said it was pretty good. Also had fries. They were crispy. Are we dying to go back? Probably not. If we were there and starving, yes. And while you can see the lake view from the patio, it is not that serene or lovely--lots of pontoons and personal watercraft--must be crazy on weekends! So had come here on a recommendation and had high hopes. The service was very friendly and they sat us quickly and were very accommodating. I had the ribs which were eh. Maybe I was expecting too much? They were lathered in a bbq sauce which wasn't my favorite. The mashed potatoes tasted like the box version (not fresh) and were bland. My friends and I spent the afternoon at island lake and started to get hungry, so of course I took to yelp to find something new!! We found Whitmore Lake Tavern, and decided to try it! The menu is classic bar food: burgers, sandwiches, deep dish pizzas, ribs, amongst others! We started with mozzarella sticks which also came with fries. They were great! I ordered their beyond burger, which is a vegetarian plant based patty meant to satisfy meat lovers. I loved it! It tasted great, and tasted just like the beyond burgers I've had from other establishments. It came with kettle chips, but I opted for fries instead which were great. I always say that if fries taste great without dipping them in anything, you know they're great fries, and this was definitely the case here. My sister and friend both got the grilled chicken sandwich and both of them loved it! One of them got it with cheese and bacon, and well as kettle chips, and said everything was tasty. The overall atmosphere was just as you'd expect it. 1950-1970 music memorabilia, and a full bar. They also had a really awesome full window that looked right out to the lake. I had never been to Whitmore Lake before but happened to be passing through over the weekend. It was around lunch time so I decided to stop at the Whitmore Lake Tavern. I ended up being quite pleased with my choice. They were not crowded yet so we were able to seat ourselves right away. Shortly after, our waitress came to greet us and take our drink orders. She was very friendly and helpful throughout the meal. They have quite a large menu with many options so it took a couple of minutes to decide on what to order. When I try new places, I tend to end up ordering too much because I want to try it all! I ended up getting a fried cod sandwich as the main entree. But I do always love a restaurant that has a decent appetizer selection so I couldn't help but to order one. I ended up ordering the breaded mushrooms. First off, the mushrooms came up very quickly and there were a LOT of them! I found it to be an incredibly generous portion for the price. They were very hot, as you'd expect, and delicious. I highly recommend this appetizer if mushrooms are your thing. Next up was the cod sandwich. Again with this item, it was a very generous portion. It was a large bun that came with two decent sized pieces of cod. I added cheese to mine, which was only $1 extra. The sandwiches all come with kettle chips, unless you want to upgrade to fries and coleslaw (which I think is only $3). Since I was already ordering the mushrooms, there was no need for fries that day. The cod was was especially delectable. It was hot and crispy which is everything a fish sandwich should be, in my opinion. Now, I don't know if I'll be in Whitmore Lake again at any point in the near future, but if I am, I will definitely come back here for the friendly service, great food and reasonable prices. read more

Been there many times. They have cool wall decorations of guitars and pics of famous musicians from decades past. The food is good. During the day, you can sit in the front area and see the lake, and in the summer the deck is open as well as the front patio next to the street. A solid 3 stars in the winter but bumped up to 3.5 during the summer for their great patio. The view overlooking Whitmore Lake, the casual but attentive staff, and the incredibly diverse menu keep me coming back. The food is nothing to go crazy over but they have a few things that they do really well. They also have big portions and fair prices which are both pluses. A couple of my favorites are the perch sandwich with a side of crinkle fries (Yes! They have crinkle fries - big win!) and the steak quesadilla with rice. This place is relaxed and friendly. As a recent transplant to Whitmore Lake, Tavern has proven to be a great watering hole. It's conveniently located at the end of the lake and right next to the freeway on-ramp. The outdoor seating area opens up to a direct view of the lake across the street. I like the idea of getting a nice buzz on in the summer while doing a little lake watching. As a vegetarian, I think it's worth noting the breadth of options. They have veggie burgers and brats, along with a host of pub-food-made-veggie-friendly. Last time, I had the veggie brat and the large pub pretzel. Both were delicious. The first time I came, they were doing a karaoke event in which some of the worst singers were seranading us, which I found perfectly adorable. The only downside is the price. As bar food goes, this feels more like downtown Ann Arbor pricing (around $10-13 for a burger and chips; $9.50 for a basic mixed drink). Bobber Down is the more dive-y, small town priced bar in the area. Regardless, Whitmore Lake is (mostly) worth the price. I love it. read more

Respectable bar food--and a wide range of it. There's not much on the menu you'd be surprised to find at a bar & grill, but most don't have quite the selection of bar-food items WLT does. The chicken quesadillas make a nice snack for two. Burgers are decent, the chicken breast sandwich is tender and juicy, if not memorably seasoned. Fish and chips were a bit soggy the day I tried them. Not too many craft beers on hand--there's usually a Sam Adams tap and a Michigan craft brew tap. The actual "bar" is very small--5 or 6 stools, which isn't much of an issue unless you're dining alone and don't want to take up an entire table. Of course if you do, you have a chance of enjoying the lake view, which sets WLT just slightly apart from your ordinary small town watering hole. read more
