If it were possible to leave a negative "star' rating I would. I reserved a cabin (#25) for this past Saturday & Sunday. When my wife & I got to the cabin Saturday evening, we entered and the stale, moldy odor was over whelming. The office was closed at that time so we decided to tough it out, but that was a mistake. We had friends that came over and upon entering our cabin, they immediately noticed the odor, said the beds looked like twin Army cots, asked how we expected to sleep on the 2 inch thick soft foam pillows that could not support your head, and then offered us their home as an alternative. Our friends only stayed a few minutes, but as they were leaving Ms. T remarked: "This is exactly why people do not come to Whitney." We were already unloaded so we decided to stay, even though my wife & I both felt like we were making a mistake. The beds were so uncomfortable my wife and I could not sleep. Additionally, the "pillows" were virtually unable to support our heads & it was akin to sleeping without a pillow. The next morning, tired and really put out with this joke of a "resort cabin" my wife went to my truck to retreive her makeup bag and fell on her face while returning to the cabin from stepping on a brick that shifted that the mgt. had placed as a step to add a few inches of height to the very tall step onto the porch area. My wife and I were so disgusted with the smell and overall incompleteness of the cabin that we decided to leave at that time. We did not even shower, as my wife could not stand the smell any longer. When I checked out I informed the girl working the desk that I was leaving early, even though I had paid almost $300 for the room, and told her why. Shortly after we left Whitney Ridge I did receive a telephone call from Kevin, who said he was the general manager of the resort, inquiring about my complaints about the cabin. He did say that he was going to go to the room to check on the odor issue, but never even offered anything else other than a concilliatory "sorry" to me...not even an offer to reimburse me for the night I did not use. Needless to say, I will NEVER patronize this business again and STRONGLY URGE anyone considering reserving cabins at Whitney Ridge to reconsider that decision...you will thank me, believe me.
