Horrible company! Again, American Home Shield continues to hire these second-rate companies for jobs. Whitney pads the diagnosis for additional money. The procedure is not efficient (use videos/photos to diagnose the problem, as opposed to sending a plumber out). After waiting days for the authorization, you have to wait for parts to be mailed to your home, then you call for the appointment to be serviced. I ended up paying over $300 for an issue because of how they worded the diagnosis for authorization. It's their way of receiving more money than what AHS would've paid them. Lastly, the customer service is really bad (can't answer questions and annoyed and rude because I'm asking them to explain and justify the diagnosis). They're protocol is less than favorable. They continued to communicate via text messaging, even after I stated that I prefer calls so that I could ask questions. Companies like this one are with home warranty companies because they wouldn't receive as much work otherwise. As a result, they're overwhelmed by the job requests (causing late response times) and they are padding the diagnoses to receive more money for the job. Unfortunately, speaking with a supervisor only added more frustration because the customer service was also poor. I totally understand why their overall rating is 1.5. I'm updating on 7/11/23. My issue still has not been resolved. Once they finally came out, the wrong part had been ordered; thanks to their INEFFICIENT method of diagnosing the problem via video cam. That was 4 days ago. No one has contacted me to resolve the matter. I've called twice to only be on hold forever. I am currently on hold again, and I've been on hold for over an hour. I have already taken 2 days off from work to resolve this. Now, I have to take another day off for them to come back out to actually repair the issue. So fed up with American Home Shield and Whitney Plumbing & Electrical. Update on 7/13/23. My bathroom floor is covered with water from a leak under the sink on. When they came out on 7/11, I told them that there was a leak. He said that he didn't see one and didn't repair. They literally just left a couple of hours ago to repair a toilet that they didn't repair on 7/11 because a genius ordered the wrong parts. And now, that same leak that he "didn't see" has flooded my cabinet! This company is beyond horrible! The "plumbers" are incompotent. So, now I have to call them back out. I have no words .. other than the contractor being polite, he admitted he knew nothing about pool heaters but without looking he sent in his diagnosis to warranty company telling them he found nothing wrong. He did not touch the heater or even open the panel just took a photo of the model with his phone and left. the heater will not respond to on/off switches, comes on on it's own and only way to switch off is by turning the filter off. since his visit and zero diagnosis, the heater had a flare up issue and melted all the wires and almost blew up ! thanks to his incompetence I now need a whole new heater costing the thousands. Side note...... contractor thought he was coming to fix my filter. bear in mind he actually asked me what various parts of my plumbing were ( check valve, chlorinator ) he did not know what they were !! I am so frustrated and angry with this company. I have parents that are 87 years old and their furnace went out last year, in the coldest part of the winter. Between American Homeshiels and Whitney, it took them almost a month to install a new furnace. It went out hours afterthey left and they had to camoe back to fix it the next day. This winter, in the week of single digit temps, it goes out again. They have come out several times. Each person tells them something else. One said the furnace was installed wrong, one said it was a bad furnace, and the last guy said there was nothing wrong with it but turned it off and told them to leave it off. In the mean time, my dad had heart surgery and comes home to no heat. We have heaters in the house but they paid for a furnace and protection, they shouldn't have to deal with this incompetence. How do you say the furnace is fine then turn it off????? They have been without heat for 3 weeks!! This is crazy. Oh, they turned off the furnace on a Wednesday. Do everything you can to switch to another vendor as these people are incompetent, unskilled and LIARS! To Whom it may concern, I submitted a repair to American home shield on Sunday Oct. 29th. @ around 5:00pm. I was told that a provider would be scheduled and dispatched as soon as possible. I was later sent a text saying that Whitney Servies would be the technician. However, they would not be able to be there till Tuesday Oct. 31st. The technician showed on Tuesday and was in my home and out within 30mins. Stating that it was a ignitor and that he would have to order the part and it could be a few days to a week. I then follow up with Whitney Service, dept letting them know about the uneasy feeling experience I had with their technician that was doing unsafe things on the furnace. I then received a Text stating that another technician would be dispatched on Saturday Nov 4th. The technician showed and to my knowledge his name was Keegan and seem to really know what he was doing and yet was having issue trying to get it to work as well. He stated that it could very well be the lower board or even the ignition switch above. He went as far as recommending maybe having the unit switched out. Keegan did explain that I would need to follow up with American Home shield due to the fact that some customer will have to pay out of pocket for any modification that are needed. So, on Sunday Nov 5th. I reached out to American Home Shield and asked the representative after explaining to him about what was found and what was being said. I asked will I need to put any money out of pocket for the switch to be done? The representative stated absolutely not! You will be totally covered. I said to him please move forward and let's get this done. I am having been with no heat at this time for over a week. He said stated that it wasn't a problem and it would be done. I then receive an email Tuesday Nov 7th. stating that I would have to pay $ 2,350.00 out of pocket for modification needed to replace the furnace. I immediately called back to them and was told that the representative had never should have said that and that American Home Shield doesn't cover modification. However, that they would offer a cash out for the furnace and I could then take care of what would be needed then. I was able a few days later get ahold of the cash out dept for American Home Shield and they offered me first time $ 714.00 .I yes used some choice words and stated what was I supposed to but a potbelly stove!! The representative said my last name and I went back at her telling her all the money I have spent over the pass how many years and you're going to insult me with that little bit. She says let me check again and came back and said O yes, I did add that wrong it will be 744.00. I stated O great I can but an extra piece of coal and hung up the phone on her. I then reached out to Whitney Services and stated to them that I wanted them to replace the parts. I spoke with their Representative Dee and she called back a few minutes later letting me know that she had spoken with Austin and Ashton and that the parts will be order and something will be scheduled. I then received a text for a technician to be dispatched to my home on Nov 10th. with the new parts. On Nov 10th. the technician Jacob showed around 2:30pm and after 30 mins he figured he had gotten the wrong lower mother board. So, he then calls the supply place and they confirm that he was given the wrong board. Jacob then reached out to Ashton about was he was dealing with. After Ashton and Jacob trying thing over the phone. Ashton told Jacob to go get the correct board and the ignition switch as well. Jacob then leaves comes back about and hour later and proceeded to start switching wires from the old boards to the new ones. This process took him a long time. I unsure if it was that the way the new board was designed or if the knowledge of it wasn't there! I say this because once he got the wire switched and tired to start the furnace. All he could get it to do was the blower would come on but nothing else. So, after messing with it for a bit we were know coming on 6:30pm and he, stated well I will have to have to see if they can dispatch a senior technician out and that I have other customer I need to get to so I can finish my call list. Jacob then packed up his tools and left. I then waited till he left and was extremely frustrated and went down to look at what all Jacob had switched out and hooked up. Please note that I know very little about HAV! So, I pulled off the front upper panel and just was looking it over. The very first thing that I noticed was that there was a green ground wire just hanging out and that wire was coming off the new ignition box that he had never mounted back to the inside furnace wall. So, I immediately pulled off the lower panel, held the ground wire to the back of the ignition switch and held it against the wall of the furnace hit the switch below and know I have the blower going and we have spark!! He came out and gave me a verbal quote to complete the work, STILL HAVE NOT SEEN A WRITTEN QUOTE DETAILING SCOPE OF WORK FOR $1700. This company was contacted only because my home warranty company uses them. They were quick in coming out to my house and shut my furnace off completely bc it was leaking carbon monoxide into my home. While glad that my home was safe, my home was now extremely cold. To avoid my pipes bursting I have been running 3 electrical heaters for a week now. Any attempt to contact Whitney has been useless- waiting on hold for 2+ hours each time, finally talking to a dispatcher who told me there was no one she could transfer me to to help me with my problem. My home warranty company says they have not received any of the information they need for Whitney to issue a new furnace. I have requested Whitney to contact me via voicemail, email and text. I have also asked me to send the carbon monoxide reports. Nothing. From reading all the other reviews, it looks like this company is HORRIBLE and they don't really care how bad they are. AHS assigned this company to come over and fix my electrical problem (my circuit breaker switch to the AC was tripping). A technician (I will call him that) came in and switched my AC circuit breaker with my dryer circuit, then switched them back. The technician then stated that if this did not work, then it would become an AC problem. In order for this to stay on the same ticket, AHS needed to get the report from Whitney T Holdings, LLC. in order to keep it on the same ticket. Getting a message through to this company is almost impossible! They simply do not answer the phone, nor send information to you. I did actually get through to someone, who supposedly sent the message to the technician. It is going on day three and nobody has contacted AHS. Because of this I am having to contact my own AC company (the one's who originally installed the AC) to come trouble shoot the problem. I have since cancelled my AHS and STRONGLY advise anyone that has to do with this company to avoid them!!! read more

Our warranty company contracted Whitney T to assess and service my water heater. Whitney T scheduled a video call through some type of app. I was thinking this was the initial assessment which would be followed by someone coming to my house to take a look at what was going on. During the video call they took pics of the model number of my water heater and the wiring on the top. After this video call they were able to make a full assessment. How? I dont know. Assessed that my water heated was full of sediment. Assessed that this issue was "pre existing." Assessed that it needed to be replaced. Mind you - No one even came to my home to look at it at this point. My warranty company was saying that based on this BS assessment they wouldn't cover the replacement. THANK GOODNESS I got a second opinion. The technician from the second company was able to fix the issue on the spot and had my water heater working that day. Updated review: The company reached out after they saw the review. They were respectful and apologized for the way the job was handled. They had offered to have the guys come back out and redo the job free of charge. We declined but ask that they refund us some of the money. They were very receptive to that and refunded us some of the out of pocket expense without any argument or negotiating. Whitney Plumbing was contracted by my home warranty for a few plumbing issues. They never called me to schedule any appointments, they just sent a text stating when my appointment would be. They were no-shows. They then sent a text stating that my appointment had been rescheduled (again with no call or communication asking about times/days that work for me) for 2 days later. They were again no-shows. This time they did not even bother to "reschedule." Another 3 days later and another text stating that they would not be showing up for "today's appointment". There was never any appointment scheduled for that day. In fact, I had already by that point contacted the home warranty company to get it reassigned to another plumber. They left a message for Whitney Plumbing to call them back. After 2 business days had passed, they never even bothered to return multiple calls from the home warranty company. On the day of their 3rd no show and 2 days into not returning calls from the home warranty company, they rescheduled the appointment for another week later claiming a "family emergency" (which in context with all the no shows I seriously doubt is anything but partying for an extended holiday weekend). The home warranty was finally able to get ahold of them with a 3rd phone call to confirm that they had never bothered to show up. Looking at the other reviews... I'm glad they were no shows because it sounds like that was an improvement over having them actually show up. In the end, I ended up working with a different company that was competent, professional, and that of course actually showed up. I can't say anything about the quality (or lack thereof) of their work, but I can say they are unprofessional and have a habit of not showing up to do the job. Far from the case and quote the opposite actually! They refused to drive to my home to do the diagnosis because of the distance. That is between them and the warranty company to figure out. If I could rate to the negative side, this is where Whitney Plumbing would fall. This is the second time Whitney has been contracted for plumbing work in my home. The first time they were hired to replace a discharge pump on the laundry tub. Whitney requested an extra $180.00 for pipe modifications. This is one pump on and one pump off, connecting to existing piping. After pictures were sent to Whitney; they backed off on the pipe modification. Nothing needed to be modified. Therefore, no additional fee required after Whitney was proven wrong Whitney is currently contracted to replace a faucet in the kitchen and a faucet in the bathroom. Whitney is requesting an additional $160.00 for each faucet install for pipe modifications. Sink 1 hole faucet, simple install, one-off, and one on. Simply connect to the flex connectors currently in place. Watch for extra fees that are BS. I can only think of a poor elderly person that would not realize these fees are fabricated and pay the money. This is a scam! Beware read more

I came across Whitney Electric & Plumbing from my home warranty company. I had several issues throughout my home which needed urgent attention. Al, the technician assigned to my area arrived and succinctly explained the issues and how to tackle them efficiently and thoroughly. This was a bit of a complicated situation since we have an older home, nevertheless, Al assured us it was not going to be any difficulties in rectifying the prior electricians work. Whitney Electric handled all the back and forth with the insurance company and scheduling the appointments. After two short visits, all my electrical issues were resolved. (Many parts were needed in order to finish). Whitney Electric always kept in contact with me about the appointments in a very professional manner (text and email) so I never felt like they forgot about my home. My home was 2 new beautiful working fans and our electric panel is up to date and brand new. Al and Whitney Electric are now my "go to" for all my electrical needs. I found them to be very reliable, trustworthy, and attentive to getting the job done 'right'. We are all so thankful for the great job and helping us to keep our home safe and working properly. Whitney was assigned through my home warranty for my complicated AC problem. First visit was 10 days ago, when the technician assured me that he would follow up the following business day with the part in hand after he had gone through diagnosis of an issue. That day came, no show, no communication. Then, I get a follow-up appointment reminder from my home warranty company a day later, scheduled 7 days after the first diagnosis visit (during which my AC still isn't working in this summer heat/humidity). Finally, another technician showed up for the follow-up visit, for which I was expecting him with the part to fix the issue, instead, he did not have any background on my issue, and of course, no part in hand to fix the issue. I was explained that they had a bit of "communication issue." This technician called the first technician, and told me that the part store is closed at that time so he can not do anything, and he would get the first technician to come out the next day. That "next day" also came and gone, no response to a text, no other communication. Now, It's Monday AM, and I am planning to call Whitney. Let's see if something miraculous would occur for my case to change this 0-star rating to a 5-star. read more

After discovering that my water heater was leaking, I had a plumber from Whitney come out right away. It was initially a small leak and not causing a problem. He said it needed to be replaced and left, doing nothing about the active leak. I followed up several times, as the water heater was still leaking. This was two weeks ago. Since then the leak got worse and the basement has flooded and now I need new flooring, and a new wall. I had a basement restoration professional come out as soon as I saw the extent of the damage and he was able to rig up a temporary drain for the water heater leak in about fifteen minutes. If the plumber had done this, I wouldn't need a whole new basement. I guess maybe I was just supposed to shut the water off to the house for two weeks? read more

Big waste of time! Called to schedule an appointment for a residential drain clearing and got an appointment window of 1-4 pm Friday. My wife took the afternoon off work and waited, no one ever came or called. Did get a call later that night - 2 1/2 hours after the appt. window but they left no message. Do NOT waste your time. AHS contractor that has been assigned for two jobs at my home. First one was for my pool heater in 10/20. It took three visits and eventually had to wait until 05/21 after the pool was reopened for the season, because the company sent 'plumbers'. Once the 'right crew' came to install my pool heater, it was done by FaceTime by the technician WHO TOLD ME HE WAS NOT A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN BUT HAD HIM ON THE PHONE TO GUIDE HIM. The tech was in and out of my home in less than 5 minutes on 06/03, took a picture and said that AHS wouldn't cover the drywall repair, the job should take 20-30 minutes, and I should hear from them Monday. It's been a couple Mondays now. called Jamie (again) today and was told (again) that a plumber came and diagnosed the problem, and I must pay $210 for needed modifications BEFORE they will schedule a repair! How is it that technician/plumber Mike never mentioned that in his 5 minutes being here, and when he said he had to get in the ceiling to accurately diagnose the problem? How's that even possible when nobody has cut a hole in the ceiling to see the problem? I guess he guessed...and this is a scam. Asked Jamie these questions and she wouldn't answer. Avoid this company at all costs. They were assigned to a work order I placed through American Home Shield to replace pumps on a radiant heating system in my home. I placed the work order before the colder months in Michigan. Several technicians came to my home over several months. In that time they destroyed 2 replacement pumps, burned a hole in my carpet, rescheduled and missed several service calls, and in the end failed to make the repairs. I only stayed with them because AHS would not cover another contractor under my plan (don't use them either). I finally had enough and had a new contractor come to assess the issue. The system was fixed that same week (1 diagnostic trip, then fixed the next visit). Because of Whitney I had to go the full winter with no heat in our main bathroom. Their customer service is confusingly bad - I don't know how they are still in business given how unorganized they are. They have an almost blatant disregard for customer concerns. I called, emailed and texted several times about the damage to my carpet. Its as if they don't care. Zero response. If you have a home warranty company that uses Whitney, demand that they are not used for any of your service calls. read more

Big Al came out to my house the 1st time, he couldn't fit through the crawlspace and refused to do the work, they never scheduled another person to do the work, they just collected the money from the warranty company. I had to follow up with my warranty company for them to come back out after WEEKS of trying to get a hold of them over the phone, which they never answer. 2nd guy came out gave the diagnoses and also refused to do the work, until it was "approved" by the warranty company" THEY NEVER CONTACTED THE WARRANTY COMPANY, THEY JUST TOLD THEM THEY DID THE WORK AND THEY DID NOT!! Travis came out and repaired 3 faucets under our AHS home warranty. He arrived within the allotted time period. He removed his shoes upon entering the house. He was courteous, professional and quick. He made all the repairs with an hour. I was a little concerned, based on their BBB rating and reviews, but they did a great job for us. If we ever need another plumbing repair I hope the warranty company contracts them again. read more

The one star reviews are being generous. Don't use this company. Run. I'll put my review on here but it obviously doesn't matter. My experience has been basically the same as the rest. They give you a 6 hours window then don't show up or bother to call to say they are not coming. You sit at home waiting and they won't even answer the phone. They will continuously cancel and reschedule (thru text) sometimes an hour or less before arrival if they text at all. Guess they text you so you can't complain. The techs have been average but whoever does the scheduling/management is just horrible. Can't get the part, mistakes with paper work, mistakingly charging us, cancel/reschedule blah, blah, we've had to deal with it all. The owner I assume must be equally incompetent. Unfortunately I'm stuck with them because I have a contract with America Home Shield. I was a licensed realtor and used to recommend AHS to all my clients. No more. Apparently they don't pay enough to get good techs out to help you from what I've been told from other companies I had to hire to fix the issues Whitney and AHS was supposed to fix. Horrible company! They claimed they were ordering parts for a month then later said insurance company denied claim. Total scam company. Technician didn't even inspect pool filter. read more
