Pretty unreliable, scheduled an early ride and they never showed up for the scheduled time. Called and they kept saying they were looking for a driver. The entire system is automated so you really have no idea if you're getting someone or not. There is also nothing keeping them from overbooking. Ended up having to drive and spent a bit more than expected on long term parking. Would have been really bad if we didn't have a backup plan. Not worth the hassle, stay away if you can. It's pretty clear why Uber and Lyft are successful when this is the competition. read more

Just to confirm, we managed to call back and get someone on the phone. They assured us our taxi was reserved and someone would be at our house. Well, they never showed up. I wanted to take a taxi versus one of the other independent contractors. I called the day before my flight and booked a 3:30 am taxi. It said all was well. When 3:30 rolled around, no taxi. I called and could only get an automated response. I ordered another taxi but when I called back the automated response said that they were looking for a driver. I tried to schedule a wheelchair van however when I called their phone number all I got was their automated system. I used it to try to schedule a ride however I can not get any confirmation that it was actually scheduled or that it was for the needed wheelchair accessible van. I tried calling their customer service number to confirm the ride however all I get is music and then their system hangs up on me. I'm now trying to cancel the ride as it is no longer needed but again there is no option on their automated system to cancel a scheduled ride or make a change or talk to a person. I had used this company a dozen times in the past with no problem. However, this time when I called the night before to ask for a ride at 4:10am next day, I got a computer response, and I went to bed thinking everything is set. In the morning though there was no cab, and when I called I got the computer voice again, saying they're looking for a driver. I foolishly believed that, but after more waiting, at 4:30am, we cancelled the cab ride and took our car when snow had been predicted daily, and the security check line was unusually long, making us extra nervous. I think the problem is the computer handling all calls. If a live dispatcher had told me he/she is having a hard time locating an available driver, I'd have made the decision earlier to try something else. Was behind cab #42 about 15 minutes ago near the peppermill. He was driving weird. Breaking when not necessary and moving side to side and driving really slow. When he moved into the left turn lane I was able to pull up next to him and he was TEXTING! Called the office and the hotel who answered copped a huge attitude. I took them monthly for years to the airport for early morning flights requiring pickups at 4:30 am. They would arrive at my house on time or even early. The app on my phone would notify me when a driver picked up the trip and how far from my house they were. Over the last couple of years they started arriving late, then this morning 7/22, they were a no-show. I eventually got a human being on the phone at the 4:30 show time and he said maybe another 20-30 minutes but had no car available and really didn't know when I might get picked up. This was the first time I used a taxi, and I had heard generally good things about Whittlesea, so I had them pick me up at 5:00am for a flight. The driver arrived early, he was kind and humorous, and we chatted a little bit. The taxi had the odor of cigarettes but was clean otherwise. I thought the price was steep -- we hadn't even gone three blocks before the fare meter was already at $4.00 and climbing quickly. I'm satisfied. I got to the airport quickly, had a pleasant ride, and enjoyed the driver. Darn car battery! I wanted a few beers to commiserate over my dead car battery and being too far to walk to the liquor store, at night, I called a cab. The cab showed up in 5 minutes and waited for me while I bought my beer with the meter off (how nice) and returned me home. This has got to be the most expensive pack of beer I've ever bought when you consider the cab fare and the tip but the driver was very nice and the cab was clean and he drove very carefully. The number is easy to remember and the cab had doors that close on their own now. The driver laughed at my shock at this, saying it had to have been a long time since I had been in a cab, and it had been. Remember to call a cab if you're going to go out drinking. It will save you from a drunk driving ticket and jail and all that goes with that. It's certainly a lot less expensive than a drunk driving ticket and a lawyer plus the fines! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I am calling their management ! They NO SHOWED on my 92 year old wheelchair bound father ! I had a handicap van reservation that I confirmed THREE times. I had a confirmation number and pick up location at airport. When I arrived at airport with my Dad to transport him to the nursing facility I called Whittlesea to say we arrived. They informed me that NO handicap vans were available and not scheduled at all that day. Despicable. The lady had no compassion and said she can't help me. I HAD A RESERVATION !!!!! As a lifelong resident of Northern Nevada, the only taxi service I use is Whittlesea. The cabs are clean and the drivers courteous. Taking a taxi to an event in town beats fighting the crowds for parking and is the only way to go if you are enjoying adult beverages. I had a nightmare incident with Yellow Cab when I first moved here a year ago - I'd Yelp it, but they don't appear to be listed here, unfortunately. They keep your phone number in their system and are always good about verifying where you are at before being picked up. My very Sick father had an appt. with his Cardiologist at 845 AM. We'd called the night before to inquire about their wheelchair taxis. We felt it would be the best alternative and less taxing on his heart. We were told to just call in the morning like a regular taxi. I have something to say about this taxi company. I'm an RTC ACCESS rider and have to be to work at 6:30am, so my ride picks me up @ 5:30am to get me there on time. On Wed 8/22 my driver for Whittlesea showed up at 5:10, I wasn't ready yet, so I told the driver I would be out in 10min. He got impatient and before 5 min he decided to knock on my door to tell me where he was parked, I felt rushed and proceeded to leave my cell phone behind. When I finally got out there to get in his cab, I proceeded to tell him I left my cell phone and would have to go back to get it? He had a big "sigh" and said OK, like I was keeping him from something?? After I got in the cab w/my cell phone, he got on the freeway and did 80mph, mind you it was 5:32am and proceeded to get me there as fast as possible. Then proceeded to ask me for a tip and said to me "you people never tip", now I was under the impression that they abide by the same rules as the RTC ACCESS who "do not accept tips"!! I was amazed at his forwardness and frankly offended by him asking me for a tip! NOW, I called in sick today and called the dispatcher for the taxi company (Chad), because I wanted to cancel me ride. Well 10 min later, I got a call from Chad and he told me my ride was there, this was at 4:13am and over an hour early and I just called 10 min ago and cancelled my ride. This was completely stupid!! I told Chad this and he told me he had forgot? What kinda business uses useless mindless people like Chad at the dispatcher position? I miss Reno/Sparks cab and their drivers when they picked me up before 7/18/18, never rude and would help me into their cab. I do want to give a shout out to a particular Whittle-sea cab driver. I don't know his name but he is either Samoan or Hawaiian, he was very nice and would not take a ticket from me, because I found out they get paid just for my signature on his receipt book and the drivers just throw the tix away! We've been using Whittlesea Taxi for about 2 years. We've always had really nice drivers who have all been very professional and respectful, dispatch knows us when we call and most of the time the driver is knowledgeable of the area/route. The only problem we've had is at the beginning of the month, they don't seem to have enough drivers on and ETA's are quite long, whereas their competitor, Reno Sparks Cab Co. always has an ETA of 15 minutes or less. Tonight however, my husband took a cab home from Walmart and mistakenly left a 12 pack of soda in the cab. He immediately called the cab company and they said that they would have the driver come back but he was going to have to pay the cab fare for the driver to come back. WHAT!? I mean yes it was my husband's mistake but another $10 to come back, really? Thinking we may not be using Whittlesea much longer. read more

Used them to go to a nearby neighborhood. Driver immediately turned in the wrong direction. When I asked him where he was going (caught him) , he said "Which way do you want me to go? We booked them the evening before a 6:00 am flight to New York from Reno; gave them the time & location for pick up which was extremely easy as we parked our car @ my husband's office & made arrangements to be picked up @ Homewood Suites. Whittlesea was a no show; we called & fortunately they had a driver close by who made the pick up so we weren't late for our flight. I received a call the next morning from the driver that he was waiting to pick us up @ Homewood Suites as requested. When I told him he was A DAY LATE FOR THE PICK UP, his response was that his instructions clearly stated we were waiting for pick up that day. WHAT A DEPLORABLE WAY TO DO BUSINESS!!!!
