First time coming here and I tried a hazelnut cold brew iced coffee along with some pastries. We got a pecan cinnamon roll and the pecan coffee cake. I wish the coffee roll had a little bit more filling or streusel in the middle as it was kind of dry, but the glazing on the top was perfect blend of sweetness with the crunch. The coffee cake was very good with crunchy brown sugar crust on top. I would definitely get this one again and warm it up. There are multiple seats available on the first floor, as well as the second however, on the second floor, you can view the street at window seating. There is also a couch and other comfortable seating upstairs. The service was exceptionally good, and both the staff who assisted made the transaction easy. I only wish the rolls were sold in smaller quantity than 12 as I don't like to freeze bread and won't eat them all before they expire. Ordered a breakfast sandwich, but while it was being made I saw the staff grab my bagel with no gloves. So I asked them to please remake it and make sure they use gloves while handling my food. They agreed to remake my sandwich. Great! I keep an eye on the person making my order and I couldn't believe it he literally had 1 glove on and still proceeded to grab the bagel with the bare hand. While in Glastonbury, my friend and I stopped by The Hartford Baking Company. I've never been impressed by their coffee, so I got a Blood Orange iced tea. My friend got a hot chocolate. I've been eyeing their Junk Bar every time I've gone inside. To feel less guilty about it, we got one to share. It is so very clean, spacious and bright inside. I asked for a plate when we got our Junk Bar Brownie. They told me they don't have plates. This is very strange. Don't people dine inside, they have tables for sitting, how do they not offer plates to eat off of? I knew the Junk Bar would create a huge junky mess inside of their very clean space. We ate it of a piece of paper, and it made a mess. Rant aside. This is absolutely delicious. This is a chocolate brownie, with marshmallows, Oreos, pretzels and coconut. All of it together, is so good, sweet and a bit of a salty crunch. My friend really enjoyed her hot chocolate. My Blood Orange iced tea wasn't very flavorful at all. Cute little coffee shop with seating upstairs and a gift store next door. I enjoyed what I got - the curried chicken sandwich and the golden milk latte (no espresso, if that's what you're after). I noticed they have many seasonal drinks, and they piqued my interest. for next time. The reason I give three stars is that the price is so high for what you get. The sandwich is pretty small for $11 and I wish it was just a bit more filled. The latte was a tasty mix of turmeric and ginger, but I wish it was foamy and not thin and watery. This is a really cute and calming coffee shop to visit if you ever need a place to relax or have a chat with a friend. The location they have in West Hartford is much larger and probably better for studying and working, while their location in Glastonbury is better for just hanging out. I ordered a plain black coffee with almond milk and was surprised with how well it tasted. Out of all the coffee shops I have tried in town, Hartford Baking Co. is definitely at the top of my list after my last visit. I also tried their breakfast sandwich and peach crostata which were also as delightful. I definitely recommend giving this place a try and plan on returning for my next coffee run! read more

Went to this place on a whim, half-exhausted from the gym and looking for a coffee in the morning. Still a bunch of places I have yet to try, and this one's been on my radar for a few days. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I stammered in and asked for the best thing they had. They made mention their chocolate croissants were fresh made and still warm, and their breakfast sandwiches were really good. opted for the sausage sandwich, got a cold brew and a brown butter chocolate chip cookie with one of those fresh croissants. Some items didn't survive the trek home, hence the lack of pictures. But everything was very good! The Chocolate croissant was the best of the lot. still slightly warm, flaky and crispy and just sweet enough. Very tasty, and glad I opted for it, even if it ruined my gym gains. The coffee was cold brew using Giv beans, which a lot of the higher-up places use. Very solid coffee, no bitter notes but earthy and hints of chocolate. Felt a little bad adding milk to it, was expecting the coffee to be mediocre as best The sandwich was good, but not amazing. the cheese didn't have much in the way of flavor, and the fresh-ground sausage was light on seasoning. The roll was very good, soft and toasted in real butter. It kind of overshadowed the other ingredients though. The brown butter cookie was also good but kind of one-note, slightly mealy and was missing salt. Was very sweet and needed other flavors to help curb the sugar flavor of the cookie. Price was okay, coffee was 4 bucks for a very solid cold brew. sandwich was 5.50 so a decent price. They really have mastered the bread, and it shows in their quality. The rest, well it needs a little more flavor. it's leaps and bounds better than any large-chain breakfast places I know of. So if you're in the area, give them a go! read more

This is such a cute little coffee shop with amazing offerings for food! I had a delicious cappuccino and one of the best gluten-free avocado toasts I have ever had! The smoked salmon was beautifully seasoned with salt and sesame seeds, and the avocado was perfect! The music inside was a little bit loud, but the tables were perfectly spaced apart, I felt like I had privacy, and they have a very big parking lot for a little cafe! I hadn't yet been to this HBC location until the other day when I went to get my decadent dark hot chocolate and I absolutely love it! I didn't realize how big this location was until I pulled up, and it's really nice inside. The staff who took my order were beyond nice and really funny, and it was a really enjoyable ordering experience. And now, about the reason I was there. This month they're featuring a different hit chocolate weekly and this last week was a dark hit chocolate with either a marshmallow or whipped cream. I'm extra, so I got both, and wow was it beyond delish. I am going to have to come back weekly now to try the others as well, because it was that good! read more

This is a nice place to sit down, drink coffee and work. The downstairs can get packed and busy but upstairs is pretty spacious with lots of seating. So excited they opened this new location literally 10 minutes from our house! Ordered takeout the other day after an AM appointment in Glastonbury. The wait wasn't long and everything was just as good as what we've recieved at other locations. There's nothing worse than ordering the same thing at a new location and it not tasting the same - that's NOT the case here. Our favorite sandwich is the E-BAT which is an egg sandwich with bacon, avocado, and tomato on biroche. The only downfall is that they don't serve sandwiches "pressed" at this location when they do at others...perhaps it's coming soon. However, the sandwich was just as good! I love walking in the door and getting a "hello!" The app works great and the order is always ready, most times, as I come early after a sunrise run/workout, they get the order done very fast. The tomato jam on the egg sandwich is awesome Since I live a distance away I always etc. extra rolls for the freezer, so I get to enjoy the taste anytime I grill. Decided to pick up some bread at HBC as I was driving by. Service was decently friendly, but a bit distracted. HBC has discounted day old bread, and I bought a loaf of Sesame Semolina. I cut a half inch-ish slice, lightly sprayed it with some oil and air-fried it for 2 and 1/2 minutes at 360. When it was done, I buttered it. It was crunchy, buttery and hot on the outside and soft inside. Tremendous! I also bought a loaf of country sourdough and a couple brownies to share with the Fam. The sourdough had beautiful color and etchings. I haven't eaten any yet, but I know from prior visits that it's very good bread. As a HUGE fan of Hartford Baking Company's (HBC) 2 West Hartford locations I was thrilled when they finally opened a location east of the river (and let's face it closer to me!) earlier this year. As with their other two locations - their Glastonbury outpost still has the same delicious fresh baked breads (personal favs are the Olive Ciabatta and Sourdough loaves), as well as breakfast and lunch items that I have grown to love. Although you might just think HBC as a bread a pastry shop - that could not be further from the truth. They are very serious about their coffee and tea game. I admit (although not to the hubs) that over the summer I had a secret addiction to their iced lattes. Be sure to check their menu as they always have seasonally relevant drinks (giving *cough* another company's PSL a run for their money. And if you have a hankering for something some eats - HBC has you covered as well. As with their drink menu - their cafe menu changes seasonally and has something for everyone. Right now I am a big fan of the Quinoa Bowl (and hope it becomes a permanent part of the menu) and the hubs loves the Southwest Turkey (sub Roast Beef for Turkey). And in these uncertain times - HBC is very COVID 19 safe - the location is uber clean, all employees are masked up, and social distancing reminders are prevalent. offer the option of delivery or pick-up and ordering on-line is a snap. I have ordered both in store and on line and during each of my experiences have been top notch (especially since the hubs likes to "modify" his order). 3.5 stars is accurate. I've been to both the West Hartford and the Glastonbury HBC locations for both breakfast and lunch a number of times. This was my first time dining in at either location. Ordered an E-BAT sandwich (egg, bacon, avocado and tomato on brioche) with a large oat milk cafe mocha. Paid for an extra two shots of espresso that I unfortunately don't believe actually made it into my beverage. It was too hot to drink while I was there, so I didn't notice until after I had eaten and left. Otherwise the coffee was decent. There was a short line but I was able to place my order within a couple of minutes and it was ready within a reasonable time thereafter. I was grossed out by the dirty tables throughout that the staff had neglected to wipe down while I was there. The tomato on my sandwich was quite sad, all that was really left was the core of the slice, with avocado that was barely there. I would have happily traded one of the two eggs on the sandwich for more fresh tomato and avocado. Salt and pepper on the tomato would have made a world of difference. At $15 for coffee and a breakfast sandwich, I had hoped for a bit more and was somewhat disappointed. read more

Finally made it in to try this place. I love the oldies that are playing. Kinda reminds me of being at granny's house for the summer. I got the avocado toast with egg whites and bacon. Bread was fresh and so was the avocado. My chai latte was very good. I asked them to add cinnamon on top and in it which made it perfect! I was informed they make their own chai daily. At the recommendation of two friends, stopped in for lunch today. Plenty of parking, and very clean / safe atmosphere. I had the Roast Chicken Salad, which is advertised as house roasted. It was graced with avocado, tomato, and romaine on ciabatta. All I can say is that it was fresher than a typical 13-year old boy is to his parents. It was SOOOO good. And I detected a very slight hint of lemon, at times. HBC is open daily from 7 to 4. At present, limited outdoor seating (3 small tables). Indoor seating probably fills up pretty quickly at lunch. read more

Clean, bright, airy, spacious industrial look --LOVE IT!!! The food is great too! We picked up breakfast burrito, BEC on Brioche,, BLTA. Their baked goodie ar delicious as well.. sorry no photos. Raspberry bar on a shortbread and tart. Not overly sweet. Junk bar is sweeter than the raspberry bar. Chocolate, pretzels, coconut all makes a perfect bite of sweet, salty and crunchy. Avocado toast on point and a tasty iced latte made for a quick pick me up. The inside is arranged well for spacious seating including a pick up area for food on the side. Many mouth watering food options to choose from so I had a hard time choosing honestly but was very satisfied with the Avo toast. Perfectly toasted bread with fresh avocado and sprinkle of lemon. Loved it. Will have to go back to try other menu selections. Hopefully the staff will be a little less scattered. I went a few months ago, I think not too long after they opened, and it felt like there was a lot of staff on hand and they weren't quite sure who was doing what so it took a min before I was tended to.
