Whole Foods along the Edgewater waterfront, and they have mostly the same items as most stores, but the quality of the fruit and vegetables here are not as good as some of the other stores I've visited this weekend - watermelon selection in particular was a bit poor compared to other shops who had more ripe and sweeter watermelons. They have good turnover and the parking lot has only one good exit with a light in case you need to turn left, though, so keep that in mind (on the north end of the lot). read more

I don't do my regular grocery shopping here but I do like to shop here for specialty products. I often come to find health food brands I can't find elsewhere. I like their wide selection of natural products that are low in sugar or preservatives. The store itself is large and well organized. They also have a decent sized prepared foods section. Employees are always willing to help me find products I can't find a certain product.m and they've never been reluctant to accept coupons that I've used. Overall, I've had a good experience with customer service. This store also has an Amazon hub, so I also come here to drop off my returns. I asked if they had specific apples and the fellow asked someone else who else and they walked away from me. They did go in the back to find it, but after a period of time which was fine, but I didn't know what was going on. The one fellow at the fish counter the other day could not have been more indifferent. When I ordered something from the deli counter, and I asked which particular kind of ham would be better for what I was going to make he ignored me. Love how spacious this Whole Foods is and there is ample free parking. Prices are so much more reasonable since Amazon acquired it a few years ago. It's got everything from veggies to frozen food to butcher station to bakery to cheese station to hot food station and more. Everyday the prices at Whole Foods go up, and then when you buy expensive meat, you can't get a proper butcher. The women who worked at the fish department served me. I asked to separate the rack of lamb chops and she ruined the expense lamb chops. She cut them uneven practically shredded the pieces. Oh god, I've been coming to this Whole Foods location for years. Way back when from when they had a Jamba Juice station which has now been taken over by Whole Foods Juice Station and throughout the years, I've only seen it get better. During COVID-19 you really appreciate grocery stores that are organized and clean. When I shop here, I never feel that people are be standing onto of others when waiting online or even trying to grab something off of the shelf. This location similar to others is quite spacious with a HUGE parking lot. Often times prior to shopping I'll take a stroll by the water and clear my head. Oh one thing I failed to mention is the beautiful flower section, when any holiday is coming up I make sure to swing by Whole Foods to build a bouquet for my mother and mother in law. In the flower section there are pre-made bouquets but also many mix and match options - I typically grab a handful of both then pass them along to the small 2 person team who will transform your random selection into a beautiful / presentation bouquet. read more

I've been a Customer Since They Opened. We "use to enjoy" lunch there weekly. But we wii never return again for the following reasons; 1/ They decided to put an Amazon return desk at the end of the seating area and that is "very difficult now" to maneuver, a walker, or a wheelchair in/or/out of the seating area. 2/ I was waiting for pizza with 6-other customers for 15 minutes. The woman kept sticking her head out of the kitchen, stating she was "busy". I asked the kid at the self check out for a manager, and he stated there there was "none on staff at the time". 3/ No more trays to put your lunch on. Rather, cardboard boxes for you to put your marinara sauce. You can just guess how that works. Gross 4/ Their prepared food quality has gone down dramatically, and their prices have shot way up!!! 5/ Their staff needs to be retrained. We (group of 6) only have one last thing to say.... The location is very convenient. There are a plethora of options when it comes to doing grocery shopping. However, I feel like I still prefer Trader Joe's over Whole Foods if I have the choice. I have been shopping at the Edgewater store for years. Until recently I have been very satisfied. However, over the last several weeks the quality of fruits has deteriorated. In particular they have frequently had very little or none of certain items. What they do have is frequently starting to go bad. I wanted to buy some blackberries last week - the first two boxes I opened had mold growing in them. I brought these to someone in customer service and he just shrugged. On a visit a few days later there was no one working at the deli counter. After several minutes I was able to flag down another employee who went in the back and got someone. Groceries on the Hudson, stop #3. The AMEX black card of food type stores, Whole Foods can be your one stop for a week's worth of groceries. Organic, healthy (choice dependent), and natural - all at a price. Which is then inflated. Twice. Once you get here (after 400 lights), there is a very nice view of Manhattan, and you can walk right up to the river if you want to take a picture or 12. Parking here can be slow and tight, and the store itself is plagued with slow-shoppers, fruit-touchers, meat-thinkers, cheese-evaluators, bread-philosphers, hot bar loiterers, and overall slow decision makers at the busiest (and not so busy) times of the day. So don't be in a hurry. Food? Food. I really like Quaker rice cakes. I'm sure they have bad stuff in them, but at 50 calories, any bad stuff can't be that bad. However, WF does not sell these, and the organic rice cakes WF sells fall apart. Quickly. When I try and spread peanut butter on them, crumble city. I suppose that's the only down side here (besides the prices)...you likely won't find many of the brands you are used to. I know this is oddly specific, but i'm sure you will find your version of my "rice cakes" story somewhere. But overall, new brands are good, because 365 makes really tasty stuff, it is good for you (or at least comparatively better than high fructose corn syrup type food), and the price point is reasonable. Some other brands...let's just say $10 for a jar of pasta sauce is kind of a lot. The fish, meat, cheese, prepared food and hot food (and salad) bar can NOT be beat. If I had the means, most of my dinners would come from here. This particular location has a great selection every time I go in, so I try not to come hungry to avoid added, unplanned (cough indian food and naan) food in my cart. Come here for: meat and fish (aim for what's on sale), select produce (carrots specifically), 365 branded chips, milk, OJ, breads, frozen items, etc., and the oh so delicious hot bar. Avoid heavy items in the weighed sections and surprisingly high priced small brand (unless you have a specific reason for purchasing) items. I can get in and out for $100 coming home with a week's worth of very carefully selected groceries (I definitely plan my recipes while I am there, many of them involve grilling meat with salad) but it is extremely easy to go over. It's really hard when the whole store SMELLS SO GOOD AND I WANT TO GET THE EVERYTHING. read more

This Whole Foods usually looks like the Apocalypse has hit: the produce section is rarely fully stocked, it's absolutely pathetic. Whole Foods has it's perks and it's down sides. First, it's pricey. I walked out with a bag full of food that I could barely pick up from another store and paid $46. Right after, I walked out of Whole Foods with 4 items and paid $50. There are sales and deals. Need to keep an eye out for those - although even on sale, it's not cheap. Make sure not to go there on a Sunday night. The shelves will be empty. I walked in once and couldn't even find bread. Great for flowers. Can buy a one bouquet and break it up. Also great for specialty items you won't easily find anywhere else like ostrich eggs. I like the section where I can get rice and grains by weight. Good value and I can buy just what I need. Overall - eating healthy has a price. If something comes from Whole Foods it doesn't mean it is always healthy. You still need to read labels and know how to identify bar code of organic items. This is my local Whole Foods. Everyone knows prior to walking in Whole Foods that many of the items are overpriced, so I'm going to over look that in my review, and honestly I don't feel that their 365 brand is really that expensive. I usually don't buy produce here, however due to the price if I can avoid it. That being said I LOVE WHOLE FOODS!!! I love the catering department, I've placed orders for platters on holidays, and planned events on a few occasions, and have yet to be disappointed. Whenever I have somewhere to go last minute I usually also run in and pick something already prepared up. I think the bakery is clean, and everything I've ever purchased from there has been delicious. I also LOVE their salsa and guacamole. Whenever I go in I try to look at their weekly sale paper, and shop accordingly. I will definitely be back at this whole foods location in the future! read more

I don't particularly go to Whole Foods for my grocery shopping, but I usually go to the food bars for a quick lunch or dinner. My favorite protein to buy from them is the breaded tilapia. They weigh the piece, so the price does fluctuate. The cheapest I've gotten it for is $4.75 and the most I've paid for it is $9. More on the expensive end, but the pieces are fairly large. They have many more proteins and sides to choose from, but I do want to add that I am definitely not a fan of their grilled/breaded chicken-- tastes very odd. Almost as if it's not appropriately cooked, or just lacks seasoning. When I'm not going for their tilapia, I go to the cold salad bar or hot bar. They have a great selection to choose from. They also always have brown and white rice prepared on one end of the bar as well as Mac and cheese, which is one of my absolute favorites. They weigh the food at the register and the cold meals usually costs me an average of $9-11 each time. Hot meals normally cost me $14-16. Again, more on the expensive end which is why I don't go here regularly, but it's a great option for quality ready-to-go food. read more

Very often there is expired food on the shelves. Be careful. Egg cases are dirty on the bottom. Old broken eggs. Dairy department is the worst. Cottage cheese with dates from June in August. E careful shopping there. Again!!! Expired milk on the shelves. Please explain to me why the refrigerator top shelves are so high that people have to climb up to get items. I see this all the time. Usually this location is well stocked, immaculate, and I want everything in sight! But today I noticed that there were quite a few things out of stock and slightly sparse/disorganized shelves. In the produce section, the scallions were not looking too fresh. Which is surprising for this or any Whole Foods location. Everyone enjoyed each bite some went for seconds even the non cake eaters. Priscilla was very helpful upon pickup Wednesday morning to add special touches to offer to add some extra fruit to ensure cake met my expectations. I presented a photo from my previous order and in a few minutes I was ready to go. The upgrades and remodeling of this location is absolutely stunning. I went to pickup Thanksgiving sides, basically cause I was told too lol! I was dropped off and stood outside on line as they allowed the allotment of people in at one time in. Once inside I had no clue where I was going, never been here I don't do stores. I had to find a desk where you gave your name cause we preordered and check in. I did so was told to go to the back of the store the receive my order. Everyone staff, customers were very cognizant of social distancing and wearing masks. Showed a piece of paper with a number on it at a table that was set up and our order was brought to me and bagged. I beelined for the cashier thinking I had to show the paid sticker to get out of there. So I'm waiting on line and after about 10 mins of not moving I thought why would I have to wait if I paid already? So I asked a very nice young lady who worked there do I have to wait on this line? She looked and said no your paid your good so within a minute I was out of the chaos. In retrospect it could have been worse, everyone was nice. It was ran as best as it could have been in these crazy times. The food was very good, and included heating directions. It gave us a break on cooking a few sides, a break is always good. read more
