I could not even turn around in bed because of the paralyzing pain, it felt like a nerve was exposed and pinched. The sciatic pain affected my ability to function in daily activities and especially at night. I knew I needed to see someone about it to get some relief from the pain. I decided to see a chiropractor since I did not want to have surgery or take drugs which would've been my last resort. I went to see Dr. Todd Whittemore at Stow Chiropractic to treat my sciatic pain. He performed tests such as an X-ray and EMG scan to determine what was causing the pain, assess my condition, and get to the root cause. With these tests, he was able to devise a personalize action plan to treat my sciatic pain and back. When I started the treatments, I was feeling much better. My pain level was no longer excruciating and I finally felt relief and improved each time I saw him. I am able to sleep better at night, function better during the day with more energy. We went to two different Ortho doctors and had 2 MRI's done over the course of two years. Both said she was fine and the results were normal. One Ortho told us to have her stop catching if she doesn't want her knee to hurt anymore. So it got to the point that we started believing the doctors and telling our daughter that she was fine and it would eventually stop. I met Dr. McGovern through Ally's new softball coach, he said "If there is something wrong, he will fix it" Now mind you we are coming up on 3 years of knee pain. Kevin met Ally and in less than 5 minutes felt a pocket of swelling in her knee and was like, that's the problem. He then asked Ally to do some simple movements, movements she could not do or not do well. So he started working with her and helped build up a solid foundation and to build the muscles in her body. She's been working with Kevin for 3 months and has told us she no longer feels any knee pain!! She now is excited to keep working with Kevin on strength and speed. I cannot be more pleased. I will never be able to thank Dr. McGovern enough for taking away my daughters pain. DO NOT HESITATE to reach out to this guy. I had a torn meniscus and went to PT before and then for several months after surgery. Kevin is so easy to work with - pleasant, knowledgeable, hands on, happy to explain as much as you want to know, and confident about his recommendations. He sees a wide range of people from young kids to older adults, and he seems to have a good time interacting with all of them (ie, he has a great bedside manner). It is also very easy to schedule or change appointments. You simply call and get a live, helpful person who quickly finds you an appointment (shocking!). The whole experience was excellent, and I have since referred two friends to Kevin who have also become fans. This was my first experience with PT, but my friends have seen several therapists over the years and think Kevin is the best of them.

I have never experienced physical therapy in the top notch methodology that Kevin uses. He was very thorough in making sure his course of therapy fits with what was shown in my medical report and my MRI. I will say that if you sign on with Kevin that you should be prepared to work. I just completed my 3 months of physical therapy here and am very pleased with the results, the…read moremethods, and the hospitality. My therapist was Jaylen and she was great. What I liked most about Jaylen is that she explained the "why" behind the exercises and customized them to my specific problem and my specific improvement rate. She changed the routine as I progressed and always seemed to pick things that were just the right amount of a challenge. The large rooms give you an insight into the other therapists as well, and they all seemed effective and friendly. Appointments are fairly easy to schedule; the only times I couldn't get an appointment on my desired day was Christmas week; the rest of the time I never had to shift by more than a half hour from optimal. Parking is easy. Coffee is there if you need it. Only real downside is that they're not open on weekends.

What have I gained almost 2 years and 300 work outs (soon!) later? Well, I've gained weight…read morebecause, well a yelpie must eat! (And drink). I don't follow the challenges or the recommended nutrition plans - that said, I may have gained but all of the 25-50 year olds that have followed the programs religiously have shown REMARKABLE transformations! I also have gained strength I never knew after DECADES of lifting, I could accomplish at 60+... I don't do a single burpee, but they have a fix for that. I don't do a lot of overhead work, but they have a fix for that. So when #granniehudsoneatsout (aka yours truly grannie yelpie) can scoop up a 27lb senile dog and pick her up and carry her like a football and not notice it... you know there's something going on. When I can carry stuff up and down stairs and not lose balance and not struggle... you KNOW there is something going on! When I can carry super loaded grocery bags or travel gear running through airports and not even break a sweat... It puts the F in FUNCTIONAL TRAINING. At least at Hudson, trainers are well educated in the field, certified and prepared to meet your needs. I'm building up to my 300 work out chin up (with bands of course) and by 400 my goal is to bust 1 without the bands... That is MY goal? What is yours? Best 45 minutes of the day. And I only go 3-4 days a week (some people practically live there even though the coaches discourage not taking rest days!). You have a lot to lose and a lot to gain when you join. And you will have a blast while you do it. HOWEVER - if you are straight laced, tight underwear, this is NOT the place for you. We don't take ourselves that seriously!

I was focused on…read moreher health and trying to get her better and did not think to look up the policy of her gym and arrange for her membership to be paused. When I finally did, I was met with a very corporate response. For a small gym with a family feel, I was disappointed at the coldness of the response without the manager/owner (?) even considering a way to accommodate us. We were told to refer to our membership contract and not offered any credit. I was actually surprised they didn't ask if she was ok when she stopped coming in suddenly after being pretty regular until she started having health problems. Lesson learned. This place is corporate and not really a family like place as I thought.
