    Steak & Eggs
    Eric S.

First time here now under a different name. Had breakfast which was a steak and egg with potatoes. Service was excellent and food was decent. Love home grown spots. Not a very large place and is without all the frills of a large establishment. But no real complaints.

Man what?!!! Pancakes!!! Best I've ever had!!! 15/10. I don't know what was in them pancakes, but I might need to work here just to steal the recipe!!! Potatoes!! 10/10 It's taste like those fancy potatoes you get from a certain winery in Temecula, Ca. but definitely way better. IYkYK!! Thank you!!! Eggs and bacon were good too, but sorry the pancakes and potatoes stood out the best for me. The service was good and the ambiance was small and a little lacking with decor, but as long as the food stays good as it was. I wouldn't care if the whole place had strobe lighting. Hahaha.

This little roadside café in Stafford is truly a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of place--and that's part of its charm. Veteran-owned. it serves classic, comforting American dishes that feel familiar in the best way. Breakfast is available all day, which is always a win, and everything comes out fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The coffee deserves its own mention: bold, fresh, and honestly excellent. Portions are just right, prices are moderate, and nothing feels rushed or careless. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the kind of place you immediately feel comfortable settling into. Chris (Gosh I hope I got his name right) , the owner, is meticulous and clearly takes immense pride in his establishment, and it shows in every detail--from the food to the service. A true local gem that's easy to overlook but hard to forget once you've been.

Widewater Grille is exactly the kind of family-owned restaurant every community needs. The food is fresh, homemade, and packed with flavor--from the steak and eggs breakfast to the New York Strip dinner, everything we tried was clearly made with care. Portions are generous and the prices are more than fair, especially considering the quality. What truly sets this place apart is the atmosphere. It's warm, welcoming, and incredibly military friendly. As an active-duty Marine, I appreciated not only the 10% military discount but also the genuine gratitude and respect shown by the staff. It's rare to find a place where you feel both like a valued customer and like family. The weekly specials are a great deal (don't miss the $2 mimosas on the weekend), and the menu is loaded with classic comfort food--from hearty breakfasts to satisfying sandwiches, burgers, and fresh seafood. The kids' menu is also well thought out and affordable, making it perfect for families. Whether you're local or just passing through Stafford, Widewater Grille is absolutely worth the stop. We'll be back often--and bringing friends with us.

Heard lots about the breakfast here on social media so we went it to give them a try. They were moderately busy when we got there, but we were served right away. The menu is filled with all the popular breakfast items (pancakes, omeletes, bisucits & gravy, etc). A sign says that they have the best coffee and I will say it was pretty good! We tried their biscuits & gravy and also their country fried steak. The gravy on both was rather basic and bland, lacking black pepper which we're used to in breakfast sausage gravy. The potatoes looked like they were nicely seasoned, but were a little on the bland side and needed lots of salt & pepper. The scrambled eggs were decent. Service overall was adequate. Overall, it was decent. We can see why they're popular, though we prefer a little more seasonings in our food.

I found Widewater Grille due to the Yelp app. Seeing that they serve breakfast - I had to check it out. I visited on a weekday morning. it's a relatively small place on the inside - but there were several open tables. I was advised to sit where ever I wanted. After looking over the menu - I opted for their Country Breakfast: Two eggs (over easy), one biscuit with sausage gravy, breakfast potatoes, and bacon, plus coffee. The coffee is self serve. They offer real refrigerated Half n' Half - not the scary stuff in the single serve containers that does not require refrigeration. The Half n' Half is in a fridge beneath the self serve coffee area. Food came up fairly quickly. The eggs were cooked properly, the sausage gravy actually had sausage flavor, and the bacon was crispy and tasty. The only thing I will ding them on is the finish on the breakfast potatoes - I like a crisp exterior on my breakfast potatoes - these were not that. Coffee was good. Service was good. Paid with Apple Pay. #WidewaterGrille

After passing the Widewater Grill many times, today my husband and I decided to stop. It was about 10:15 in the morning on a Sunday in late November. We were able to walk right in be seated. My husband ordered the "Big Breakfast"pictured and I ordered the Western Omelette with a side of grits. Both breakfasts were very tasty the grits were stand out and very smooth and well seasoned. The Western Omelette was humongous and I had to take half of it home. The caramel latte was delicious. I nursed it for a few hours and enjoyed it immensely. Jeff said the coffee was good, but I didn't have a chance to taste it, it smelled very nice. A young man took our order. He was cordial and brought the food quickly as ordered. The owner was also working he walked by our table to ask how everything was, we told him it was delicious. He also was very nice. It's easy to pass up little places like this on such a big road as route one, but I urge you to give it a try. Widewater Grille a sweet local spot for breakfast or lunch with plenty of parking out back.

Cute and intimate little spot. If you're looking for a calm and relaxing place to enjoy a meal this is the right place. Great customer service.

Wow! Don't miss this diner....and that could be easy if you blink. This from scratch diner delivers amazing, fresh made food. We enjoyed crab cakes, hush puppies, country fried steak, potato's...serve yourself drinks. They have a nice espresso machine, but I missed my opportunity! They have a small outdoor seating area. We were welcomed by the owner.

Friendly, veteran owner and customers. Very clean! Lots of people park in the back so don't let an empty front parking lot discourage you. They serve breakfast until they close at 3pm. They have the BEST biscuits and gravy I've had in 3 counties. I know I'm very picky. Today I had country fried steak breakfast. It was crispy on outside and tender on the inside just perfect. The eggs were fresh, the potatoes were good and he let me substitute a biscuit for the toast. They have great steak, hamburger and sandwiches too. They use honey baked ham on their sandwiches. Delicious. The owners wife makes the grab and go desserts. Pumpkin bread, Brookies, etc all scrumptious too. Support this locally owned little gem!

    Breakfast burrito
    Carmen L.

It's not every day you find an unassuming hidden gem--the type that's so unassuming you drive past it when Google Maps says you've arrived. There's some parking out front but there's ample parking in the back. Drive slowly as you approach so you don't miss it. Now onto the food. The menu had a number of breakfast options (they also serve lunch and early dinner), including a small menu for kids. I opted for the breakfast burrito, which comes with scrambled eggs, your choice of protein, cheese, peppers, onions, and mushrooms. The burrito is served with a side of house potatoes, sour cream, and salsa. The potatoes are fresh and you can tell it's all homemade: the seasoning blend and the baby red potatoes are hand cut. My companion got Uncle Richard's breakfast, which came with eggs any style, protein, and French toast or pancakes. Let me tell you about the pancakes: some of the best I've ever tasted. (I asked one of the owners and he said they make their batter from scratch; you can tell and taste the buttermilk!!) The food was just absolutely delicious. Coffee is self-serve. Service was great, and the restaurant is small yet inviting and kept tidy. We will definitely return!

Western omelet was amazing. Breakfast potatoes were the best. I'd recommend this for breakfast. Little gem in town that is a must try.

The young woman at the till didn't greet us or interact with us. Do we seat ourselves? Order at the counter? No direction from the woman. When we finally figured out we were supposed to order at the counter, "Ms. Personality" acted like we were bothering her as we ordered burgers, bags of chips, and drinks from the cooler. All three of us asked for no cheese. It took an inordinately long time to get the burgers. The very sweet grill cook delivered them. Two of us felt bad for her and did not return the burgers that came with cheese. The third person in the party did. She (very good-naturedly) returned to the grill, where a loud, whispered discussion ensued about whether we had asked for cheese. My friend and I ate the burgers. They were generic frozen patties, not ground beef. Considering the price, this was not only disappointing, but outrageous. Ms. Personality apparently clocked out while we waited for our food, so maybe she was ready to leave when we came in. As she was leaving, we noticed she wore a T-shirt that said something about "a$$holes." Not exactly customer-service-oriented or professional. Between the attitude, food quality, price, and wait time, go across the road (literally) to Widewater Grille unless it's a Monday or Tuesday when they are closed. (The French toast is HEAVEN!) In that case, just drive another 8 minutes into Garrisonville and go to Chili's. Or Five Guys. Or McDonald's. Much more worth the time and money. Cross-posting.

We checked out of the Holiday Inn Express across the street and had that thing where you want…read morebreakfast but don't want to eat at the same place you always do. Quick Google, and Montclair Family Restaurant popped up basically a stone's throw away. Sold. Pulled in and the lot was full, cars circling for spots. Honestly that's usually a great sign for a breakfast spot but a rough sign for actually parking. We were about to give up and go around the block when somebody backed out right in front of us. Walked in and there were two tables left in the whole place. We felt like we'd used up a week of luck before 10am. Black coffee for me, water for her, nothing fancy. But the coffee was genuinely excellent, which I don't take for granted at a family restaurant. A lot of places treat coffee like an afterthought and this one clearly doesn't. I saw a Greek omelette on the menu and had never had one, so that decision made itself. My fiancée went with the pancake tacos, which neither of us had ever seen anywhere before. My omelette came out and it was eggcellent. The real star was the tzatziki, which was one of the best I've had anywhere, not just at breakfast. My one honest gripe is the home fries showed up cold. But I dumped some of that tzatziki on them and suddenly the temperature stopped being a problem. Then there's the pancake tacos. Absolutely to die for. Picture a fancy McGriddle with a lot more going on and a lot more food. My fiancée is normally very generous about sharing, and this time I got exactly one bite before she made it clear that's all I'm getting. Jealous of her order for the second time this weekend. We will be returning for dinner next time we are in town!

**1 Star - Terrible service from start to finish**…read more We sat in a small booth on a Thursday night and the first person who came over spoke almost no English. She managed to get out the word "drinks," then couldn't understand Diet Coke and unsweet iced tea. After that we sat there about 20 minutes until a different waitress finally noticed us, apologized, and took our order. Food took a long time and was very overpriced for what we got. The waitress who started our order then walked out to the parking lot without saying a word. We were ignored after that until another server came by to refill drinks and then disappeared to the other side of the restaurant. We just wanted the check so we could leave. I finally had to get up and stand at the front. One guy walked right past me, ignored me, then came back a couple minutes later and sent me to a register. The guy at the register sent me back to the first guy. They then had a disagreement right in front of me. Eventually the waitress who had taken over our table came over with a handheld machine so I could tap to pay and get out. Never again.
