My wife and two granddaughters joined me this evening, May 10, 2023 for dinner at Wienerstube. We have eaten there before, and enjoyed it, and decided to do it again on Wednesday because their website had posted specials for Wednesday that included half off all schnitzels and beers (the website also had a special on Thursday that included half off all steaks and wine). So, needless to say, we were driven by the Wednesday bargain. Upon being seated and presented the menus, I asked the waiter about the schnitzel and beer special on Wednesdays. He was surprised and asked to see my findings on the website. I pulled it up on my phone, and, he asked to take it into the Kitchen and inquire. He returned to the table to say that yes, it was posted on their website, and that he'd have to get the boss's approval. We went ahead and ordered expecting to receive the discount as advertised. Before the meal came our waiter returned to tell us that the boss would not honor the promotion and was now changing the website. The waiter was polite and remorseful, however, my concern is that the boss chose not to honor their commitment. Our bill of $125.58 would have been reduced by $43.50 based on their website. It truly wrecked an otherwise enjoyable evening. At the very least I would've expected that they buy a round of drinks or comp the children's meals in an effort to acknowledge their liability. There seemed to be no effort to make this situation more palatable and for this reason I would not plan to visit this restaurant again. read more

Had 17 friends for a luncheon today. Couldn't have been a better experience. All tables were set up upon our arrival and we were greeted very warmly. Ordering was super easy and we were even able to do separate checks. Seemed like everyone enjoyed their meals ranging from bratwurst to wienerschnitzel, avocado toast to fish and a Ruben sandwich to pancakes! Our server was very attentive and service was not rushed. This is a new business and needs all our local support to grow and thrive. Don't hesitate to give the Stube a try. read more

Upon coming back to the valley for a weekend ski trip, I was excited to visit the new location. My Sunday breakfast was a bit disappointing. Potatoes were so over cooked and hard. The Eggs Benny was delicious. Mimosa was small but $$$. Not a pretty presentation on the plate, could have added a sliced orange or something. Very busy and our waiter was great but looked like not enough wait staff. For the prices, I will not be back. read more

I felt a little mixed about writing a review but after what just happened I think it's appropriate that I do. The food was great don't get me wrong but the service was absolutely ridiculous. We waited 10 minutes for anyone to greet us and seat us. Then we waited another 10 minutes to be given menus and then another 7 minutes to be asked for drinks. The cook and bartender had to jump in and get our drinks and our food. Then when we were waiting for our food I looked around and everyone was becoming agitated to get their orders taken. I just wanted to leave because my anxiety was going through the roof by the terrible waiting on costumers. For goodness sakes the table next to us asked 4 times for coffee. Finally we get our food and it's great! So I feel a little bit better and excuse the whole experience to understaffing. Then we are given our bill and our drinks aren't on it so I thought our drinks were on the house because of how long we had to wait. I was happy because that's how you run a business and keep your customers happy. We turn in our card for it to be ran then we get the bill back. It's $30.00 more than what was given to us. At this point I am very upset, if you are going to raise the bill and not let the customer know that is just WRONG. I won't be coming back and I'm very disappointed because I loved the food. read more

We drove over from Carbondale and decided to try some German food for dinner. The servers were charming and attentive. We had a jalapeño cheese pretzel for an appetizer. I loved the mustard more than the cheese sauce! We both ordered the wiener schnitzel. The portions were huge and it was delicious. Overall a great meal. read more

This restaurant takes it's name, it's recipes, even it's furnishing from a long time Aspen favorite. The ambiance is warm and cozy reminiscent of a mountain chalet. The owner took time to tell me how they used wood scavenged from the original Aspen location to make the tables and how they made the large beams themselves. Now, the best part, the food is amazing. In house smoked meats, sausages and brats. German style potato salad, sauerkraut, and tasty mustards to complement the house made elk sausage stuffed with jalapeno and cheese. Can't be missed is the Kaiser spatzel, so creamy and loaded with cheese. There is something for everyone. The vegetarian avocado toast is pictured here. The owner said that eggs Benedict is his favorite and he serves it up in several ways. I'm going back to try the Benedict with the elk sausage. Will keep you posted. By the way you locals, did I mention the owner is the same that had the widely loved Aspen Over Easy. This place is not to be missed and it is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It does close mid afternoon to set up for dinner. Watch for the recently approved outdoor patio coming this summer. read more

The bad - My group of three walk in to the restaurant and are greeted by a friendly waiter who is dressed in torn jeans (not designer) and a too small polo shirt. He looked like he had come to work from his construction job and just threw on an apron. He placed us at a table directly between the only other two occupied tables in the restaurant. I should have asked for a little spacing. Later, when my son finished his meal first, he was immediately asked if he wanted desert, before the rest of the table had finished. The waiter never introduced himself. All of this leads me to think that he was poorly trained and supervised. THE GREAT ! - The food was spectacular. Reminded me of dinner at Guido's Restaurant in the Aspen of the 70's, 80's, and 90's, (the Wienerstube in Aspen never offered dinner). We will return to try the breakfast and lunch menus. We would recommend this place to anyone. Be aware that current menu prices are a little higher than what is listed on the website. read more

Been wanting to try this place since it opened. Well, I did and was sorry after. Got the Jägerschnitzel. I've never had it in Germany/Austria so I didn't have a referecne for what it's supposed to be. The pork was just okay but the spaetzle was, well, not what I thought it was supposed to be. It was basically a very heavy, very cheesy pasta and cheese dish. The service was fair even though there weren't a lot of customers there. The decor didn't reflect Germany, Austria, Bavaria, Canada, the moon or even my backyard. Very plain, no decoration and much too quiet(a bit hot too). When I asked the waitress about the extra little tax on my bill, she said it was because the whole area is new and the tax goes to the managing company of the properties. I've eaten at other restaurants in this little complex and unless they bury this tax in their food prices, she was just flat out lying. Headed to the grocery store the next time I'm hungry. Avoid. I'd love to give this restaurant a review but the poor service was IMMEDIATE from the start. My son and I walked into the Wienerstube on Sunday afternoon and read the sign in the doorway that said, "wait here for a hostess to seat you". We could see inside the restaurant which was mostly empty with just a few tables having diners. We waited. I caught eyes with the gentleman who was walking around with menus and organizing the restaurant. Nothing!!! A few minutes later he looked at us when he approached the hostess stand to drop off menus and didn't say one word. We waited more. I watched as he went back to fold napkins and take care of whatever he was doing. We waited more. 13 minutes into standing there my son suggested we leave as being completely ignored was intentional and an obvious sign of poor service. I was dumbfounded by the complete disregard by the employee to leave us standing there waiting without even coming over to explain the wait. Had he approached us and mentioned the reason for the wait we would have most likely stayed but he did not. But it wasn't all bad because we left there and ate a great meal with great service at Brass Anvil in Carbondale CO. I highly recommend that place if you feel like a great meal with great service. Bring you appetite. Being German and having eaten authentic Schnitzel, I can appreciate good schnitzel and Weinerstube has it. They offer a variety of styles and I had the Wiener schnitzel and my wife had the Jaeger schnitzel. They were both more than we could finish. Mine was perfectly breaded and cooked. The spaetzle that came with the Jaeger was delicious. The servers were prompt, courteous and attentive. The kitchen was quick and efficient. Our food came out with in 15-20 minutes. Not long enough to finish my bier. The place was quiet and the bathrooms were clean. I would eat there again and I would recommend Wienerstube to my friends. read more

We have been to Austria numerous times and love the food and drink. We tried Wienerstube even though the number of reviews was low. This is some of the best Austrian food (and food in general) that I've eaten. Very flavorful and plentiful. The beer selection is also authentic and all on tap. However the best is the service. Visiting from out of town and found this place near our hotel last night. We are there last night and highly recommend it. The food was incredible (never had Austrian food before and still don't know the first thing about it) and the friendly service was fantastic. I'm pretty sure the owner came over and gave us a sampler of tasty morsels but we didn't ask if he actually was the owner. If you are in Basalt or nearby do yourself a favor and stop in for authentic Austrian food. We are going back again before we leave town. read more
