Was craving some Hawaiian BBQ, so I decided to hit Wikiwiki. I ordered the BBQ combo plate which comes with Mac salad, rice, short ribs, chicken, and beef. All of the meat was well seasoned and the portion size was decent. The cashier was friendly and attentive. If you're looking for solid HI BBQ in this area of Berkeley you're in luck.

BBQ Mix Plate - 2 Rice 1 Macaroni Salad

Stopped by Wikiwiki Hawaiian BBQ with a friend for lunch. There was hardly any people in the late afternoon, and the employees, despite being on their lunch break, made our orders quickly. I was feeling hungry, so I ordered the BBQ Mix Plate, with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of macaroni salad. I thought the price was great, as they were very generous with the portions; I ended up taking half of it home for dinner and still felt full. I loved the macaroni salad, the rice-to-meat ratio was great -- just that the beef short ribs was way too chewy. It was flavorful and marinated properly, but I was just unable to get it apart and off the bone, especially with just the flimsy plastic utensils that they gave us. Not totally unrelated - the restaurant doesn't look too well-maintained, and while that usually isn't an issue for me, the floors were evidently dirty with crumbs and lettuce leaves littered about by other customers. Their plastic cups had dust (?) in them and friend didn't feel too comfortable drinking water from their soda machine - water had a strange color and taste to it, so her only other option was to buy a plastic bottle of water on their menu for $1.50. Not a huge deal, but definitely not a positive in terms of experience, so I'll likely only make my return if I'm particularly missing their macaroni salad.

I love Wikiwiki! The cabbage, rice and macaroni salad go perfectly with my Hawaiian bbq chicken! I was introduced to this place when I first hit the Bay Area! Great service! Comfortable atmosphere! Delicious Hawaiian fruit juices! Walking distance on Shattuck Ave

Ordered take out and it was great Hawaiian food. The portions were large and the food tasted good. We got the mixed bbq plate. The Mac salad was very flavorful and the teriyaki chicken was so juicy. We also ordered a side of chicken katsu which was nice and crispy.

I've ordered chicken katsu my whole life and I've never had one where the katsu strips were this thin. The chicken katsu was extremely thin and had barely any meat on it. Every single strip was like this. You are basically paying for breadcrumbs.

I can't decide which I enjoy more; Chicken Katsu with 2 mac-1 rice or Short Rib with 2 mac-1 rice. I will say that they are consistent and fresh everytime I order...

I decided to…read moregive it a try since it's hard to find good BBQ here, and this place makes some bold claims about their ribs and other meats. I could not have been more disappointed. First off I ordered ribs and got brisket instead, and the brisket is not well cooked or seasoned. It tasted like a hungry man microwavable dinner. Absolutely no pink, just grey sad beef. But the sides are what really killed it. The baked beans was literally just a third of a can of Buschs beans, no additional seasoning or anything. The least they could do is throw some pepper and pork fat in there. The potato salad was somehow worse. Also completely unseasoned, just over mashed over cooked potatoes and a little mayo as far as I can tell. Put some pickle juice or relish or horseradish in there, at least salt and pepper. The BBQ sauce is very obviously store bought and cheap, it's sickeningly sweet. Also the person working the register was actively mean mugging me and didn't speak to me at all other than to ask for the money. And for 25 bucks, I wasn't expecting to have my mind blown, but my experience was altogether so poor, the portions too small, and everything was disappointing. For 25 dollars worth of groceries you could make five bigger servings of actually edible versions of the same thing. Or go down the street to Heads and Tails BBQ. It's still not authentic southern BBQ, but for the same price you can get significantly better food at a place you can actually sit down and eat at. If you actually enjoy and respect barbeque, do yourself a big favor and avoid this place like the plague.

GROUPON EXPERIENCE…read more First I'd like to say I think some of the reviews on here are rather unfair. Yes, I can understand being frustrated when most of the menu is not available, but if you were to actually see the restaurant for what it is its a ONE MAN SHOW with ONE GUY doing everything. It really is too bad you were not able to try the food because you would have thought it was great, as I did. One star seems a little harsh for that in my opinion, but than again its my opinion so who cares. So my dad buys Groupons like they are going extinct so we usually have multiples of the same place, which means multiple things will expire if we do not use them. On a particular Monday both my parents took me to this place to try and use two of our Groupons. Usually with Groupons you cannot sit together and at first we were stupidly sitting separately and not doing a good job of hiding. In all I just wanted something that was like $6 and the Groupon was for $24 worth. I ended up just sharing one Groupon with my parents. We got the wings, catfish, and pork chop sandwiches. Everything was hot, flavorful, and filling. We ate everything! The ONLY thing I would say about the food is I thought the bread choice for the pork chop sandwich (just 2 regular slices of wheat bread) was too soggy. Overall though I thought the food was great. The service was slow ONLY because one guy is doing everything. I thought he was very very nice though, and even when we said we didn't want the peach cobbler after ordering it (because we were going to eat dessert somewhere else) he gave it to us anyways. I think people should try this place out more, but I also think the owner should: 1. Change the sign that says breakfast on the outside to soul food or fried catfish or something that you actually sell. Breakfast is not your main thing and it shouldn't be because your fried stuff is YUM. 2. Promote the good stuff like your awesome food. 3. Read these reviews and address them because they DO matter. I pretty much base my choice in restaurant on Yelp and many do so keep that in mind. With that said, I am done ranting lol.

We sat inside originally, but then decided to go sit outside because it was a beautiful day. The inside was clean and very quiet, the patio was full of people. Ambiance gets a 4/5. We were immediately met by a pleasant waitress, and when we moved she just came and found us. She was very informative, engaging, and knowledgeable, great service all around 4.8/5. I ordered the strength & my cousin the garlic wings and a margarita. The wings were some of the best I've ever had, fried to perfection and seasoned just right. A huge punch of garlic, which I really enjoy, so wings were 4.9/5. The vegetarian sandwich I ordered was so delicious, the pesto and garlic aioli really added flavor and the fresh warm bread really set it apart 4.8/9, only because the jalapeño was more spicy than pickled. Overall; I rate this place a 4.7/5
