    #1 BBQ mix plate.

Was craving some Hawaiian BBQ, so I decided to hit Wikiwiki. I ordered the BBQ combo plate which comes with Mac salad, rice, short ribs, chicken, and beef. All of the meat was well seasoned and the portion size was decent. The cashier was friendly and attentive. If you're looking for solid HI BBQ in this area of Berkeley you're in luck.

BBQ Mix Plate - 2 Rice 1 Macaroni Salad

Stopped by Wikiwiki Hawaiian BBQ with a friend for lunch. There was hardly any people in the late afternoon, and the employees, despite being on their lunch break, made our orders quickly. I was feeling hungry, so I ordered the BBQ Mix Plate, with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of macaroni salad. I thought the price was great, as they were very generous with the portions; I ended up taking half of it home for dinner and still felt full. I loved the macaroni salad, the rice-to-meat ratio was great -- just that the beef short ribs was way too chewy. It was flavorful and marinated properly, but I was just unable to get it apart and off the bone, especially with just the flimsy plastic utensils that they gave us. Not totally unrelated - the restaurant doesn't look too well-maintained, and while that usually isn't an issue for me, the floors were evidently dirty with crumbs and lettuce leaves littered about by other customers. Their plastic cups had dust (?) in them and friend didn't feel too comfortable drinking water from their soda machine - water had a strange color and taste to it, so her only other option was to buy a plastic bottle of water on their menu for $1.50. Not a huge deal, but definitely not a positive in terms of experience, so I'll likely only make my return if I'm particularly missing their macaroni salad.

I love Wikiwiki! The cabbage, rice and macaroni salad go perfectly with my Hawaiian bbq chicken! I was introduced to this place when I first hit the Bay Area! Great service! Comfortable atmosphere! Delicious Hawaiian fruit juices! Walking distance on Shattuck Ave

Ordered take out and it was great Hawaiian food. The portions were large and the food tasted good. We got the mixed bbq plate. The Mac salad was very flavorful and the teriyaki chicken was so juicy. We also ordered a side of chicken katsu which was nice and crispy.

I've ordered chicken katsu my whole life and I've never had one where the katsu strips were this thin. The chicken katsu was extremely thin and had barely any meat on it. Every single strip was like this. You are basically paying for breadcrumbs.

I can't decide which I enjoy more; Chicken Katsu with 2 mac-1 rice or Short Rib with 2 mac-1 rice. I will say that they are consistent and fresh everytime I order...

Not that good as it seems. Food quality on the macaroni salad and rice was horrible. Also the customer service. The kalbi was good though.

We entered a few minutes before peak dinner times, so there were seats to choose and sit from. By the time we left, mostly all the seats were filled up, so I would suggest coming in early. I liked the naming for each of the ramen dishes, some I recognized the names from Hawai'i. For this round, we ordered 3 different types of ramen: the Kuni, Broke da Mouth, and the Miso Hungry. These orders also came around the same time. A notable elements I liked about the ramen was that the noodles were chewy and springy, and the broth was smooth and easy to drink. I also didn't have the urge to drink lots of water either, so the seasoning was perfect. The other element was that I got to enjoy the ramen's broth and noodles as the stars of the dish, and the proteins, like the pork were supporting roles. For me, what I enjoy ramen are the broth and noodles, so I'm happy that these are prominent in the dish, rather than me having other chow down a thick slab of pork. This restaurant hit the right marks for what a delicious ramen is for me, so I'll come back, and maybe try their other broths.

The atmosphere was chill and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We ended up talking for hours about everything until I realized how late it was and the bowls were cleared. They were patient and didn't kick us out right away. Lol Ty Ty Very good ramen, good place to catch up and friendly staff. I'm still biased and have a few favorite ramen spots though

Actually mustard might be a helpful condiment to offer to address the blandness of the food here. I'm not saying it's bad here because it clearly satisfies the student populace who obviously need sustenance to make it through their midterms and finals. For me as someone many years from my undergrad days, however, my point of reference relates to the plate lunches I could find on Oahu. Using that point of comparison, I suggested to Jamie W that we give it a try during one of our weekend Berkeley walks. Jamie ordered the $14.99 BBQ Chicken & Beef Combo Meal. It was a hefty portion suitable for a growing post-adolescent. The meal came with the requisite two scoops of rice, one scoop of macaroni salad, and steamed cabbage underneath the meat (Photo 5). He pronounced it middling when it came to flavor satisfaction. I went for the $13.99 Hawaiian BBQ Beef Bowl. It came with the same sides, and the satisfaction level was comparable (Photo 6). Listen, if I was young and running late to my study group, I'd be so in. I would definitely recommend the chicken combo- it comes with two types: deliciously crunchy panko-crusted chicken (meat tastes fresher than L&L Hawaiian) and teriyaki chicken. Meat portions are generous, and can easily be enough for two whole meals. Food also comes really quickly (~10 min) and the staff have always been nice when I've visited. All in all, a great spot for yummy protein at a reasonable price.

a chicken katsu that measures out to two meals, great deal alert!…read more so I have been here many times, tried the chicken katsu, hawaiian bbq chicken, aloha bbq chicken, and white island fish, which is about half the menu, and always great and always filling so a chicken katsu comes with two scoops of rice, one scoop of mac salad, a small bed of cabbage, some steamed brocolli, and three crispy and juicy pieces of chicken. There are two dipping sauces, a plum based katsu sauce, and a soy sauce hybrid. The katsu sauce has a little bit of heat, but mild enough that my SO whom normally does not eat any spicy, can handle it. Which ever combo or item you pick, it's outstanding. Because the items have a lot of food, I usually skip the appetizers. So for either lunch or dinner, you have two meals out of any items. Service is great, I usually order on the phone and pick it up, but ordering in person or online is fast, staff is great and friendly. the decor is simple and the place is very clean. This was our view from the bar and it served as the backdrop to our entire dining experience. We had been wanting to visit this restaurant for quite some time, and after finally making it in, we left wondering why we had waited so long. Everything on the menu sounded really appetizing, which made it difficult to narrow it down and choose. Thankfully, to help first timers like us, the Tasting Menu offered a curated selection of items from each section on the menu. First things first... the cocktails. I ordered a Fhloston Paradise, a perfect blend of kõ hana agricole rum, coconut liqueur, falernum, lime and absinthe; just enough sweetness for my palate. It was appreciated with every sip, but went down more smoothly than expected and I was already eyeing my next drink. Having a husband that loves watching me enjoy life was the first to suggest another drink. Sitting at the bar (our favorite place to sit btw), was the second encourager as the drinks were made right in front of me. One caught my eye... BUT... it was a mocktail. Not a worry in my mind as I asked our wonderful bartender if he could make it an "un-mocktail". So... the "Bittersweet Life" turned into a rum filled "Sweet Life"! He painstakingly made every effort to make sure my drink came out perfect, exactly how I like it... sweet. Bravo to your attention to detail! One word to describe our dining experience here is "fragrant". From the aromatic bouquet of the cocktails to the enticing scents rising from each beautifully plated dish, every course engaged the senses before the first sip or bite was even taken. Our Tasting Menu included these items: *Tuna poke *Caviar Taro Puff *Duck Liver Mousse *Pig Head Croquette *Halibut Sashimi *Gulf shrimp *Local black cod *Daikon cake (not on the printed menu) *American Wagyu Zabuton *Sesame cracker (not on the menu) *Baked Hawaii (not on the menu) We enjoyed our evening so much that we're already looking forward to returning. With so many enticing dishes still left to explore, this certainly won't be our last visit.

Also, nothing is served with mac salad... The prices are pretty decent for SF. Maybe that's why this place is popular. They are takeout only and have one bench outside for you to eat at if it's free. Tried the garlic shrimp, the moco loco (idk why they swap the words), and the furikake chicken. Also had a spam musubi (when I ordered online for pick up, I couldn't add egg which is usually an option according to the Toast website). The garlic shrimp was missing a flavor that Hawaii has in their garlic shrimp. The color was very red but it was not spicy. They do have an option to make it spicy though. It was bland to me compared to what I'm used to when I visit Hawaii. The moco loco gravy was good, but the beef patty tasted dry and overcooked. They did have a runny egg too but it was oddly underneath the patties, so we broke the eggs while trying to split the beef amongst 3 people. The furikake chicken is probably better if you eat it right away since it's lightly breaded. We took it home so by the time we ate it, it was soggy. The sauce it is cooked in is a little sweet and wasn't too bad. The soggy chicken ruined the texture for me though. Each dish was served with a little bit of cabbage which I liked to get a little greens in the meals. The spam musubi didn't taste like it had any sauce, and they used so much furikake underneath the spam, that it made it taste fishy. Would not recommend. I can't comment on the service much since I ordered online for pickup. The guy who handed me my food after asking my name was nice and polite though. The only reason I'd come back is to try to the shave ice. The group in front of me got 3 for their kids, and it looked tasty.
