    Pretzel time

I loved the food - loved. This unassuming restaurant at the Wild Bear Inn, I didn't expect much, like at all.. but it's better than the German restaurants in Nashville at the mall, Knoxville, and Spokane,WA. The sausage sampler was great - big enough for two! It comes with kraut so don't order it as a side if you're getting an additional dinner plate. The schnitzel was pounded thin, breaded and fried well. It was a little oily but the right amount for me - not patted dry. The cheese spaetzle was great, kraut was good, rotkohl was good, mustard and cheese was good, pretzel was huge and tasty, I loved the pumpernickel bread, yum! I believe their German style beer comes from Schulz Brau out of Knoxville, I wish they had imports but Schulz Brau is pretty good. I will come back! Service was great, drinks kept coming, full bar.

Visiting Pigeon Forge and came across this spot to eat. German restaurant. Not very busy, which was a little concerning considering there was an hour and a half wait at other spots. Seated right away. Goulash was on special, but they were out of it. Out if a couple of other menu items too. We got the Jagerschnitzel with cheesy spatzle. That was delicious. They have a bourbon list that included Pappy, so I asked. The service said they were out if all of them except Angel's Envy. I didn't get a bourbon. However, when we were leaving, I saw the bartender telling another guest about their bourbon selection and saw bottles of Eagle Rare, Makers Mark and others, so they clearly had options. Not sure why the waiter would have told me otherwise. It was a quiet place and the service was friendly enough. Much better than waiting an hour and a half, but not fantastic.

Was wonderful!!! I had salmon and my husband had schnitzel. Omas potato pancake was delicious! Service was good and friendly.

Came here while in town and WOW! It was SO good. Definitely comfort food. Everything tasted great! It was a bit empty when we first got there, but that didn't take away from any of the vibes or food. Could've had some better music tho lol. We were seated right away and our server gave us great food and drink recommendations. We aren't the biggest beer drinkers either, and the Dunkel beer was surprisingly good - which is very rare for us to say! Definitely something that is a bit tucked away and not what everyone picks when they think of food places here. But worth the stop! Come here if you want some flavorful comfort food!

The atmosphere was welcoming and staff was attentive and polite. The food for me was kind of hit and miss. The sausage platter with sauerkraut was great, as was the potato pancakes. However the potato salad and rotkohl needed seasoning. The black forest cake was light and fluffy but not what i would consider traditional. If you are not familiar with German food it would be great but if you have spent time in Germany you may be a little disappointed.

Stopped at the bar on the way in to Gatlinburg. This place was awesome! You must get the Bavarian Pretzel Best thing we had. My husband had the bratwurst with sauerkraut and a potato pancake. I had the traditional schnitzel, spatzel with cheese and fried potatoes with caramelized onions and bacon. Both were great and everything had a home cooked taste to it like Oma was in the back cooking it up. Would highly recommend you stop and give it a try.

We stopped in for lunch and to watch the Ravens game. The bartender was very nice and friendly. He was very welcoming. We ordered schnitzel, potato pancakes, sparkle, red cabbage. Everything was delicious and definitely authentic German food. We also enjoyed all the German decorations and the t-shirts. Hoping to get back soon.

Back in the area for the first time since Feb, we went here again. It is still just as good and highly recommended. Food is excellent. Service is good, but a little slow after food is delivered. Seating is ample and adequate. Give this place a try and you won't be disappointed.

It has a small outdoor covered area in the front with tables. Was a very cute venue inside with tons of different craft beers on tap and in cans/bottles in a huge open refrigerated case and they also served food. We sat at a table and a server came over and pointed to a card on the table with a SKU code to scan for the menu and said orders were placed at the bar. I had wished that the servers took our order at the table as I really didn't want to scream my order over all the bar patrons. Anyway, I went up to the bar and the bartender/server acknowledged me and took my order and she brought it to our table fairly quickly. They said it was free refills on soda which was great. The karaoke set up was great and the DJ was engaging. We enjoyed all of the singers. It wasn't super crowded so there was room to move and you didn't have to push past people or squeeze through a crowd to get to the bar or the restroom which I appreciated. Also the tables were spaced out well. All in all we had a great time and will be back when in the area.

They were soft, warm, and had the perfect amount of surface salt to complement the mustard that came with them. They were also served with beer cheese, and others at the table loved that. For lunch I had a veggie burger and I would say it's in the running for best veggie burger in Knoxville. It was THAT good. To keep it fully vegan order it without the chipotle mayo that comes with it, otherwise it is a vegetarian friendly delicious burger! Others at the table had burgers, fish tacos, and chicken quesadillas and all seemed happy with their food. It's a super casual space with cement floors, and I think they sometimes have live music. You'll…read moreavoid a lot of the tourist traffic here with its unique vibe, and you'll come away with a memory of "that cute British pub" when it's all over. NOTES: -This place is run on bare bones staff. I'd guess maybe two cooks and the single server. It is not a place to come if you need quick service or quick food. They're very friendly (even if you're not a local!), but definitely come when you have a lot of extra time. -This place is not accessible in the slightest. You'll need to go up two flights of very steep stairs to make it to the front door. The stairs are on the old side, and I was concerned about one breaking. There is no elevator. -The parking lot is relatively small and shared with a nearby Urgent Care. It's gravel and grass, and people mostly made their "own" spot where they wanted. As this made for a haphazard parking lot with small margins for cars, I wouldn't let a newer driver park here. PROS: -Lots of unique British dishes. We've never seen somewhere serving Bubbles and Squeak and lots of other dishes. If you're not familiar with niche British dishes, you'll probably have to pull out your cell phone to figure out what some of this stuff is - and that's really fun. -Food is really good. It tastes like food-your-mom-would-make instead of gourmet takes on these dishes. It has a really authentic, small business vibe to it. -Unique beers on tap too. You aren't going to find Bud Light or Miller Lite on tap here. All of their beers are unique pub fare. They do offer some of the American favorites in a can/bottle, but this is a great excuse to try beers you wouldn't normally have access too. -Despite the older age of the building, the bathrooms are very modern and very clean. Most gas station bathrooms are in worse shape than the ones here. CONS: -It's definitely a small, "small margins" business, and all of the cons that go along with that. Food took awhile, upcharge for using a credit card, non-focal dishes may have been frozen/reheated/canned, and parking was difficult. That all being said, we're looking to come back again, and the atmosphere (and the taste of their unique star dishes) make it one of those places you'll actually talk about when you're done with your trip instead of forgetting that morning you simply went to Denny's to scarf down pancakes.
