Stopped on a whim on our way back from tubing at the little pigeon river. Everyone was kind and hospitable even though we probably looked like some river rats! The food was great and prices very fair. Here's a rundown of what we tried: Daughter kids cheeseburger and they let her have Mac and cheese for her side- all great. I had the open faced roast beef with mashed potatoes and a salad it was exactly what I expected and hit the spot! My husband had the Friday catfish special with mashed potatoes and sweet corn and a mellow yellow- our meal was $42. Mother in law had a mushroom Swiss burger with fries which she enjoyed and a Diet Coke and father in law had a bowl of chili (he loves trying different places chili!) he said it was very good and a bit spicy. Trish's Mountain Diner is no different! Easy to find, but just off the touristy path this diner offers you true traditional American fare. We enjoyed the breakfast most of all, eggs cooked just right and their biscuits were some of the best I've ever had in this area! Service was a bit stretched thin as it was pretty packed but still extremely friendly and attentive. During our first of 2 visits, we dined for dinner. Their service was extremely friendly; you could tell that a lot of these folks were family and it was a warm homey vibe. The burgers we ordered were decent, but were a bit overcooked. The fries were the prize of the plate, and we are planning to come back by to try some other dinner options and certainly for a solid breakfast. Our server, a younger gentleman, was extremely knowledgeable, quick, and friendly. You could tell he had a passion for this place! As a gay couple in the South, we are always curious to see the vibes of these places, and we felt more than welcome here. Nothing we did not like about our experience here. From the moment we walked in we felt a warm welcome. We came in for breakfast and everything you could want from a country breakfast. Been coming to the area for over a decade and while I've wanted to try Trish's this was my first time. It was an excellent experience and I will make it a point to go back. Then, while our server seemed nice, there was a VERY obvious nature of us being foreign to them, likely because my daughter is masculine. More than half of our party ordered water and it tasted absolutely TERRIBLE, I reported that to our server and not only did she argue that it was "normal" but we observed her recruiting other staff members to agree. Two thumbs down to this restaurant. I've never dined at a place where they screw up an order of a simple grilled chicken. We were served with an unexplainably rubbery chicken which we had to send back to the kitchen. The second chicken that was served was again no different from the first one either. My husband felt awful looking at my plate the whole time as I only ate the fries and Mac N Cheese and hadn't touched the chicken or the tasteless corn bread. The server gave us $2.4 off the bill which we felt wasn't fair but still paid and left a tip. Looks kind of like a log cabin on the outside and a himestyle kitchen in the inside.Staff was really nice and took our orders promptly. I ended up getting the chicken casserole special with a side of corn and a vegetable soup. The food itself is like homeatyle cooking and reminded me of the kinds of foods from when I was young. Everything was flavored and cooked well and I had no issues. From what I saw there are a lot of locals that come here, which makes sense based on the location. I ordered the BBQ pork sandwich on a wrap, and there was hardly any meat on the wrap, probably 1 or 2 oz of meat at the most. The mashed potatoes tasted out of a box with brown gravy out of a package. The green beans had a fishy taste, and I couldn't eat them. I don't like how they put the sides in the small bowls, and you don't get as much. I was still hungry when I left there.
