Flattened pork chops in gravy. Purple cabbage. Spaetzel tasted like Mac n cheese. Gross! Too much gravy..

All you can eat ....kitchen closed by the way.

I gave it a one star because they lied to me. They fail to mention the $150 pet fee when you are booking your hotel stay. It says "All you can eat pancakes and they give you a free breakfast voucher to find out kitchen is closed in the morning. Last, A.C did not work. Good luck better off staying somewhere else.

What a nice surprise! Great German food and wonderful service. Our only disappointment was the patio was closed

I loved the food - loved. This unassuming restaurant at the Wild Bear Inn, I didn't expect much, like at all.. but it's better than the German restaurants in Nashville at the mall, Knoxville, and Spokane,WA. The sausage sampler was great - big enough for two! It comes with kraut so don't order it as a side if you're getting an additional dinner plate. The schnitzel was pounded thin, breaded and fried well. It was a little oily but the right amount for me - not patted dry. The cheese spaetzle was great, kraut was good, rotkohl was good, mustard and cheese was good, pretzel was huge and tasty, I loved the pumpernickel bread, yum! I believe their German style beer comes from Schulz Brau out of Knoxville, I wish they had imports but Schulz Brau is pretty good. I will come back! Service was great, drinks kept coming, full bar.

Visiting Pigeon Forge and came across this spot to eat. German restaurant. Not very busy, which was a little concerning considering there was an hour and a half wait at other spots. Seated right away. Goulash was on special, but they were out of it. Out if a couple of other menu items too. We got the Jagerschnitzel with cheesy spatzle. That was delicious. They have a bourbon list that included Pappy, so I asked. The service said they were out if all of them except Angel's Envy. I didn't get a bourbon. However, when we were leaving, I saw the bartender telling another guest about their bourbon selection and saw bottles of Eagle Rare, Makers Mark and others, so they clearly had options. Not sure why the waiter would have told me otherwise. It was a quiet place and the service was friendly enough. Much better than waiting an hour and a half, but not fantastic.

I didn't see anything listed as such on the menu. Authentic German food is hard to do without some sort of it. Potato pancakes were awesome though too! I would recommend checking with them as I will definitely go back there.

And then I looked again, hoping that maybe something low-calorie or nutrient-dense was hiding and I just needed to look harder. Nope. But if you're looking for a sandwich that consists of chicken tenders between two glazed donuts, then this is your place. Sawyer's has other things that are not so county-fair forward. They are known for breakfast: French toast, pancakes, omelettes. If you get pancakes or waffles or the like, you should definitely ask for their house-made peanut butter syrup. It's amazing and so unlike anything that I've ever tasted. I got an omelette, which was good and had a lot of stuff in it. They will give you hot sauce upon request, which I was grateful for because I thought the omelette needed it. One thing that's really cool about Sawyer's is that they seem to take food allergies very seriously. That's always nice to see! As you're entering or exiting, make sure to admire the decor. It looks like you're in a barn, and as you exit, there's a gift shop with stuffed animals, t-shirts and other things to commemorate your visit to Sawyer's. This is a fun little place that's great for families, for sure.

I went with the Black Bear Sampler, and this thing came out in a cast-iron skillet looking like breakfast had decided to show off. Eggs, ham, bacon, sausage gravy, grits, potatoes, biscuit--the whole works. And somehow, instead of being a giant pile of average food, everything was fantastic. That's what impressed me most. Plenty of places can make one great breakfast item. When you order a sampler this big, usually something gets left behind. Not here. Every part of it earned its spot in that skillet. The portions are huge, the food is excellent, and this is exactly what I picture when I think of a real Smoky Mountain breakfast: hearty, simple, and done right. I've eaten breakfast in a lot of places over a lot of years. This one is now the measuring stick. Absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to come back.

I'd wanted to stop several times before, but it's such a small restaurant that we never had enough time to wait. Today we finally got the chance to try it. The restaurant is pretty small with only about six tables. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and told the wait would be around 30 minutes. We weren't in a hurry, so we decided to stay. They gave us a pager, and we sat at one of the picnic tables outside while we waited. It actually only took about 10 to 15 minutes before our table was ready, which was a nice surprise. I usually look at the menu ahead of time, but I didn't this visit. I was expecting a few more breakfast options, but I ordered the French toast since it's one of my favorites. My brother ordered the pancakes with strawberries and bananas, and we both got a side of bacon. Our food came out pretty quickly. They brought my French toast and our bacon first and let us know the pancakes would be out in just a minute. When they arrived, we were both shocked by the size. Those pancakes were huge! Everything was very good, and the staff was incredibly friendly. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the bacon, but my brother actually loved it. That's just one of those things where everyone's tastes are different. Whenever I can, I like supporting locally owned restaurants instead of chain restaurants, so I was glad we finally stopped in. I also appreciated the atmosphere. They had Christian music playing and scripture displayed throughout the restaurant. My faith is important to me, so I enjoyed that touch. It wasn't overbearing or pushed on anyone. It simply added to the welcoming atmosphere.
