We decided on ribs and sauerkraut, fried/broiled catfish, & fried shrimps. Within minutes, the corn fritters, salad & soups arrived at it table and not long after our entrees. It's amazing and so unlike anything that I've ever tasted. I got an omelette, which was good and had a lot of stuff in it. They will give you hot sauce upon request, which I was grateful for because I thought the omelette needed it. One thing that's really cool about Sawyer's is that they seem to take food allergies very seriously. That's always nice to see! As you're entering or exiting, make sure to admire the decor. It looks like you're in a barn, and as you exit, there's a gift shop with stuffed animals, t-shirts and other things to commemorate your visit to Sawyer's. They gave us a pager, and we sat at one of the picnic tables outside while we waited. It actually only took about 10 to 15 minutes before our table was ready, which was a nice surprise. I usually look at the menu ahead of time, but I didn't this visit. I was expecting a few more breakfast options, but I ordered the French toast since it's one of my favorites. My brother ordered the pancakes with strawberries and bananas, and we both got a side of bacon. Our food came out pretty quickly. They brought my French toast and our bacon first and let us know the pancakes would be out in just a minute. When they arrived, we were both shocked by the size. Those pancakes were huge! Everything was very good, and the staff was incredibly friendly. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the bacon, but my brother actually loved it. That's just one of those things where everyone's tastes are different. Whenever I can, I like supporting locally owned restaurants instead of chain restaurants, so I was glad we finally stopped in. I also appreciated the atmosphere. They had Christian music playing and scripture displayed throughout the restaurant. My faith is important to me, so I enjoyed that touch. It wasn't overbearing or pushed on anyone. It simply added to the welcoming atmosphere.

My local friend invited us for lunch on 7/23/18. We had never been before and our friend was German and wanted us to try their German cuisine. I was not expecting as nice of an interior and truly enjoyed the atmosphere . The seating was very comfortable , clean ,and the nostalgic/newspaper menus were a great touch. The German beer steins and pictures were lovely. Service was excellent , our waiter was courteous , prompt , engaging , and efficient. The food was simply delicious and the selection and portions were substantial. We each took home enough of our plates for a later meal. The prices were balanced and fair presenting good value . I had the Traditional Schnitzel with lemon and potato pancake and it was to die for. The Schnitzel came with a side salad and I chose Caesar which was very yummy. My husband got the sausage sampler with combo mustards which he really enjoyed.We had a wonderful experience and will certainly put this restaurant in our rotation of favorites to visit frequently. We did not sit outside due to the weather being very hot . But we all noted how lovely and inviting the setting was looking up at the mountains, and additionally how comfortable the seating looked. What a pleasant surprise it was, eating with friends at the Wild Bear Tavern today. Honestly when my friends invited me today for lunch at this German restaurant I had very low expectations and was very negative. Being German myself and a good cook mastering most German dishes I am spoiled and know the difference. My doubtful questions asking about how they cook the food here and interviewing Chef Kenny made me more positive and I couldn't wait to taste the food. We all had something different. we started out with the large Bavarian Pretzel , Jaegerschnitzel with an amazing fresh mushroom gravy, red cabbage, spaetzel it was so delicious I am still tasting it. Finally after almost 6 years living here we have an amazing German restaurant in Pigeon Forge. Thank you Chef Kenny and Trey for making our first visit so special!!! My wife and I stopped in tonight on the suggestion of a friend. We are now owe them a huge thank you. Great food, and great staff. Gluten free- No Problem, they are ready to take care of you. Lisa took great care of us and took her time talking about the menu making sure we got what we wanted. Casey (GM) checked in to make sure everything was up to standards. They both are there to make loyal happy patrons and not just rush you in and out. We had breakfast, including delicious French toast, the chicken fried steak sandwich (huge), and the banana split pancake (with chocolate chips) that was literally larger than the plate--and possibly the fluffiest pancake I've ever had. They did have paper menus at the register, but with a long line behind us, I didn't want to hold everyone up. I ended up ordering the Bacon Bomber with the Frytato as my side, and my brother ordered the dinner salad. We were given a number and were fortunate to find an open table. Considering how busy they were, the food came out in about 15 minutes, which was very reasonable. Everything looked great, so my expectations were pretty high. My brother said his salad had a lot of lettuce, and while it also had a generous amount of chicken, several pieces were so large that he had to go get a knife to cut them into smaller bites. I started with the Frytato. They were okay, but nothing that really stood out. They were also sitting in a lot if grease. Much more than I prefer. As for my burger, I think I simply picked the wrong one for my taste. It was a good-sized burger, so I cut it in half. I believe it was the jalapeño popper topping that didn't work for me. I usually enjoy jalapeño poppers and usually like both the cheddar and cream cheese versions, but on this burger it just wasn't a combination I cared for. The burger itself appeared to be cooked well, but the flavors just didn't come together for me. I finished half of it, but I honestly didn't really enjoy it. Would I go back? I'm not sure. It wasn't an inexpensive meal, so it's disappointing when the food doesn't hit the mark. I do think my burger choice was probably the biggest issue, but my brother wasn't especially impressed with his salad either. It just wasn't the experience I had hoped for based on all the great reviews.
