The food here was really great and the outside seating was perfect because we had our dog with us. My husband and I ordered a couple of beers on tap. An Oktoberfest and a Hefeweizen both were served really cold and were delicious. Next we had a giant pretzel which was equally delicious and we both enjoyed the schnitzel for dinner. The are plenty of menu options for a restaurant associated with a hotel/vacation club. I understand why they don't add more as there are a lot of restaurants nearby. Always love a good german place. We ended up here to kill time while Jeep Invasion had Pigeon Forge traffic in gridlock going Northbound. This was pretty good. I love schnitzel and this did not disappoint. I do wish they garnished with lemon as we like that extra zest it gives when squeezing some fresh juice on the schnitzel. My wife and I have been eyeing this place for years and finally tried it. Server was not the best until we left then he seemed to be eager. The sausage platter I got was ok at best. The main kielbasa was good but the other two were cold in the middle and tasted off. My wife got the pot roast which was so bland and the meat was way over cooked. The potatoes in it were undercooked as well. Will not be revisiting anytime and I recommend people don't as well. read more

My friend and I both have been to Germany and have had very good German food in the US. This is not one of those places or even close. The Shank was the only saving grace here. The shank, nothing else on that plate resembled or tasted like anything German I have ever ate. The Rotkohl (Red Cabbage) was cooked to mush and flavorless. The German potato salad Was like nothing I have ever had. Heavy mustard taste and no bacon/vinegar taste. The saving grace on the schnitzel plate was the schnitzel. Potato pancakes, although delicious are not very traditional German fair. The schnitzel was good with the Jager gravy on them. For side dishes we also ordered the cheese spetzel and traditional German potato salad. The cheese spetzel was very good. However, the German potato salad was way too heavy-handed on the mustard, and not what I would consider to be traditional. TL;DR Worth a try, but be aware of negative attitude from the host. Service - We arrive around 8 PM. There were about two or three parties in front of us waiting. We gave the server our information to get on the waitlist. Maybe he was having a bad day, but you can tell he was not happy having to deal with us. Also, after sitting down, no one stopped by for about 5 minutes. We were sitting there waiting for someone to ask if we needed some water. Our server was very friendly. She got our order quickly. The food was brought out quickly as well. Although after giving us the check to pay, she disappeared. We had to ask another server to help us out. Decoration - There are plenty of TVs in the restaurant and a couple of TVs at the Bar, and a giant 70" on the wall across from the bar. If you are interested in watching a game, you don't have to worry about someone blocking your view. Overall, the restaurant is trying to mimic a German bar. Food - I ordered a pork shank with salad and mashed potato as sides. It was enough for me. The meat was able to fall off the bone effortlessly. Love the flavor. They were able to make the flavor propagate throughout the pork shank. If you like ciders, I highly recommend the Jack Tales. It goes great with the Pork Shank. It is not as sweet as other ciders. Overall, I give a 4/5 for the food and drink. However, I would not go back due to the service. I don't recommend anybody going there either. Other places would treat you properly. read more

After a full day of zip lining and horse back riding in the Smokies we discovered that it is much better to catch dinner in Pigeon Forge vs. Gatlinburg. Also travel tip - take the pigeon forge bypass from inside the park to get to pigeon forge much faster and take the Gatlinburg bypass back if your staying at trolley stop 8 or further down... Appetizer - pretzel and cheese was amazing - quite honestly not far off from a real one from Munich... Entrees: Wife and daughter split the wild bear burger which they enjoyed and the fries were also tasty and not overly fried. I had the bratwurst sandwich with sauerkraut with was also very well done and flavorful. Desserts: We had all 3 favorites, the apple strudel which was flaky and hot with the apples thinly sliced topped with ice cream...great dish! The Black Forest cake was also light, and flavorful with many cherries in the mix... German chocolate cake was heavy and filled with icing but was tasty - just hard to get down as the slice was huge!!! Service: Our server was great, very attentive - not overly bothersome but kept us hydrated with beer and wine and water! Pricing: Honestly pigeon forge seems to be slightly less priced with more selections and this tavern was really very reasonable...for a 23 ounce beer / bottle of reisling, 3 entrees, 3 desserts & a huge pretzel - it was just a tad over $100. Super happy overall and the outside dining was comfortable and nice....only thing that kept it from a 5 star review was the greeting and host - not very friendly and very curt.... We found this place from Yelp. We were in the area looking at wedding venues and saw this place had good reviews. We arrived and were skeptical it was connected to a motel. We decided to go in anyways. Not many people were there. We got there at 4:30. The server was nice and served us quickly. The pretzel was AMAZING. You need to get one for sure. Out of everything the table ordered the pot roast was the best! Definitely get the pot roast, it is very flavorful. Over all it was a good experience.
