    Pretzel time

I loved the food - loved. This unassuming restaurant at the Wild Bear Inn, I didn't expect much, like at all.. but it's better than the German restaurants in Nashville at the mall, Knoxville, and Spokane,WA. The sausage sampler was great - big enough for two! It comes with kraut so don't order it as a side if you're getting an additional dinner plate. The schnitzel was pounded thin, breaded and fried well. It was a little oily but the right amount for me - not patted dry. The cheese spaetzle was great, kraut was good, rotkohl was good, mustard and cheese was good, pretzel was huge and tasty, I loved the pumpernickel bread, yum! I believe their German style beer comes from Schulz Brau out of Knoxville, I wish they had imports but Schulz Brau is pretty good. I will come back! Service was great, drinks kept coming, full bar.

Visiting Pigeon Forge and came across this spot to eat. German restaurant. Not very busy, which was a little concerning considering there was an hour and a half wait at other spots. Seated right away. Goulash was on special, but they were out of it. Out if a couple of other menu items too. We got the Jagerschnitzel with cheesy spatzle. That was delicious. They have a bourbon list that included Pappy, so I asked. The service said they were out if all of them except Angel's Envy. I didn't get a bourbon. However, when we were leaving, I saw the bartender telling another guest about their bourbon selection and saw bottles of Eagle Rare, Makers Mark and others, so they clearly had options. Not sure why the waiter would have told me otherwise. It was a quiet place and the service was friendly enough. Much better than waiting an hour and a half, but not fantastic.

Was wonderful!!! I had salmon and my husband had schnitzel. Omas potato pancake was delicious! Service was good and friendly.

Came here while in town and WOW! It was SO good. Definitely comfort food. Everything tasted great! It was a bit empty when we first got there, but that didn't take away from any of the vibes or food. Could've had some better music tho lol. We were seated right away and our server gave us great food and drink recommendations. We aren't the biggest beer drinkers either, and the Dunkel beer was surprisingly good - which is very rare for us to say! Definitely something that is a bit tucked away and not what everyone picks when they think of food places here. But worth the stop! Come here if you want some flavorful comfort food!

The atmosphere was welcoming and staff was attentive and polite. The food for me was kind of hit and miss. The sausage platter with sauerkraut was great, as was the potato pancakes. However the potato salad and rotkohl needed seasoning. The black forest cake was light and fluffy but not what i would consider traditional. If you are not familiar with German food it would be great but if you have spent time in Germany you may be a little disappointed.

Stopped at the bar on the way in to Gatlinburg. This place was awesome! You must get the Bavarian Pretzel Best thing we had. My husband had the bratwurst with sauerkraut and a potato pancake. I had the traditional schnitzel, spatzel with cheese and fried potatoes with caramelized onions and bacon. Both were great and everything had a home cooked taste to it like Oma was in the back cooking it up. Would highly recommend you stop and give it a try.

We stopped in for lunch and to watch the Ravens game. The bartender was very nice and friendly. He was very welcoming. We ordered schnitzel, potato pancakes, sparkle, red cabbage. Everything was delicious and definitely authentic German food. We also enjoyed all the German decorations and the t-shirts. Hoping to get back soon.

Back in the area for the first time since Feb, we went here again. It is still just as good and highly recommended. Food is excellent. Service is good, but a little slow after food is delivered. Seating is ample and adequate. Give this place a try and you won't be disappointed.

I didn't see anything listed as such on the menu. Authentic German food is hard to do without some sort of it. Potato pancakes were awesome though too! I would recommend checking with them as I will definitely go back there.

I ordered cheese curds as a starter. They taste greatz kinda like small mozzarella stick nuggets. We ordered four plate: grilled cheese, plain cheeseburger, buffalo chicken sandwich, and B.E.L.T. (bacon egg, lettuce, tomato). Fries all the way around. They were well-cooked crinkle fries, and well seasoned too. I had the B.E.L.T. which was great. In fact, all of the food was ideal and fresh. Between the flawless, quick food, and cleanliness, and the service I am missing nothing. Kylie was super nice and always there when we needed her. Overall, this place is a winner. Simple menu, all-day breakfast, and convenient location. Definitely worth checking out.

For once in Pigeon Forge, I have ate something that actually tasted distinguishable. If you blind-folded me and had me take a bite out of different burgers from different burger joints, I could guess this one with no hesitation. However, one notable throw-off i had was that the burger had a weird aftertaste of tuna. I ordered the smash burger and it had the perfect amount of grease that doesn't drench you, but keeps up with freshness and taste. And the reason I wanted to write this review was for the french fries. Tired of soggy fries? This place puts the FRY in french fries. They maintained a delicious level of crunch and crisp (if that's your gusto) and didn't have that same refrigerator taste. I also ordered cheese curds and they had the most amazing cheese pull and tasted great! The service was excellent too, unlike some servers, they don't abandon you and they keep up with you and refills / clearing the table. If there's anything I appreciate more, it's waiters and waitresses that (even if they don't) act like they cherish their job! And if you yearn for a setting that makes you in the mood for adventure.. or a bear lover.. this place has attracting visuals so you aren't trapped in a minimalist setting. Overall, if you're up for trying new flavors and advancing your taste buds' vocabulary, I recommend The Fat Bear Family Tavern!

I got the lunch special, which came with one pork chop. I polished it off. I believe the dinner entree comes with two! Luckies! The fried green tomatoes were also awesome, and so was the shrimp and grits which was a "lighter" version with the veggies and tomato base in the grits. The lunch specials are a steal and a healthy portion size too. Available every day 11am-4pm. Complimentary freshly baked bread served warm upon request. We had high hopes for the pies and ordered the seasonal lemonade pie. It was meh. We would pass on this one. Heather was our server and she was great! Never have I really ventured outside of that and I couldn't actually tell you why. When my kids and I made a quick 1 day Dollywood trip over to Pigeon Forge, 23 we're looking for a place to eat prior to the big day at the park. What's funny is I relied in Googles AI (Gemini) to tell me where to go. I was driving around and was asking for recommendations. It said Mama's Farmhouse was a popular place to eat for families and it was all-you-can-eat. The kids wanted fried chicken and Salisbury steak, which was in the menu for that day. What a coincidence! If I could summarize it, this is basically a local Cracker Barrel-style restaurant but the food is a lot better. It's tucked away off of a side road off of the main highway 321 road and reminds me a lot of the Applebarn Restaurant down the road. The ambiance is this old timey feel, like many of the establishments around the area. The fried chicken (bone-in), chicken tenders, fries catfish, and Salisbury steak was what we ordered for our mains. Everything was delicious! The seasoning had the perfect amount of salt across all the dishes and sides. The chicken was juicy and tender. The Salisbury steak was solid, some of the best I've ever had. Savory, rich brown gravy, and tender chunks of beef. All the sides were amazing too, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and chicken and dumplings. Honestly there wasn't a negative thing about this place. I would go back in a heartbeat!!

The online menu gave plenty of eye candy and we were absolutely starving by the time we arrived Friday evening. The staff was very attentive and kind. It's clear that this place is fully operated by word-of-mouth and return guests. It's a huge establishment with several rooms by big fireplaces and Lazy Susan's to pass around the family style meal. The menu was a little difficult to navigate so many options laid out, but only certain options available per day. So ultimately, we were not able to order exactly what we wanted, but we ordered what was available for Friday, which was the Salisbury steak, fried fish, and fried chicken. All of these meats came in a small portion to split amongst our three people, and with unlimited sides. Some of the sides were pretty impressive. I would have to say my favorite side was the broccoli casserole, followed by the mashed potatoes and gravy, which were real potatoes! The mac & cheese was more on the creamy side versus the gooey cheesy side. Unfortunately, some of our chicken was undercooked, and the skin was very thin and not too crispy. The fish was decent, not dried out whatsoever, which is a pretty good compliment. While my coworker said that the chicken and dumplings were her favorite, I failed to enjoy them :( All in all, this was not our favorite restaurant from our trip this weekend and it appears that big groups and big families really do enjoy dining at this establishment.
