I really couldn't believe it. When I told her I couldn't change the time I booked my dog... an afternoon appointment made a week prior, to THAT MORNING "as soon as I could get there"... whaaa? 'NO no no no. I cannot do that. I don't have a way to transport him this early, you woke us up here, *(no apology or response, just kept steamrolling ... she didn't take a breath... She was ARGUING with me! Calling me, at 7:58 AM..waking me up and ARGUING with me!!! Wanting me to come in sooner so she could get off earlier? Really, Petco? Once I got my coffee in me and put on my Mr. Magoo glasses, I called store back... got the manager named "Joe". He was very nice but didn't have the ability to confront the employee he was afraid of her I think... ahahaha... wow. Just bad, bad, bad, all the way around.

Before driving an…read morehour, I called ahead to confirm if they had birds for adoption or if it was just a supply store, as I was specifically interested in that. The guy I spoke with said yes, they do have birds for adoption, but didn't clarify much beyond that. I assumed it would be like a Petco-style place where you can meet and adopt birds. When I arrived, I was shocked by how dusty the store was and how poorly maintained the cages looked. The birds' habitats seemed depressing and unsuitable -- definitely not the kind of environment where birds should live. When I asked about adopting a bird, I was told flat out, "THEY ARE NOT FOR ADOPTION." I was confused because didn't I call to ask that? And they said yes? Then I asked, "Neither of them?" He said only two types of birds were actually available for adoption, and those were the same birds you can find at Petco. If I had known this, I wouldn't have driven an hour I was specifically interested in African Grey parrots, which they had but not for adoption and since they are not available at Petco, I thought they would have one there for adoption. We were looking at the birds and we were never told "if you are interested in adopting these are available" which I would've appreciated. I decided to go to Petco after which is 5 min away from my house! and got a jenday conure bird there. Anyway, I ended up buying some sunflower seeds for a bird I already have at home, but he wouldn't eat them, which was weird because those are his favorite. It turned out the bag was expired, which explains why. Overall, this place felt really poorly managed, especially regarding the birds' living conditions. They desperately need better habitats that allow the birds space to stretch their wings and have a more natural, healthy environment. I do not recommend this place.

We walked in to get our pups weighed and to figure out a rain jacket for our boy Flip Flop. SeKai, a wonderful sales associate came over to help out, especially with the re-hanging of the tried on jackets. Realizing that Flip Flop was acting anxious and asked us if we have ever tried a thunder vest. Ummm nope, thinking do they really work?? SeKai was pretty much no pressure, try it, if you like it get it if you don't no worries. So she helped put it on, and with in seconds my anxious pup is calm. Of course we got it! It's not the vest I am reviewing here of course, what I want to say is what a wonderful environment Mud Bay is, and how employees like SeKai make it that way. Our appreciation soars with the kindness, knowledge, and the love of animals we felt today. Thank you for making a difference in our fur babies life and thank you for taking the time to do so.

Last month she was diagnosed with an aggressive sarcoma (tumor) in her mouth and I went straight to this location for soft food for her and they were helpful and kind and took the time to pet Porsha and listen to her needs and help find solutions. We went back again when I could t get her to take her meds and got some pill pockets and bacon flavored fruit roll ups to hide her pills in. Again, they were so kind and helpful. We are helping our baby cross the rainbow bridge this weekend and we made one last stop to Mud Bay for her last couple of days food and treats and my daughter brought her in and the staff went above and beyond as always. She came home crying, so grateful for their kindness and the love they showed Porsha. I will always recommend this location and this company. Thank you again to the amazing employees and their dedication to their job and our pets.

This new store, which is in the Trader Joe's parking lot, of course offers all of the same things but in a very nicely arranged newer looking store. Great selection for all things relating to wildlife in your yard... For your birds, squirrels, and even a very nice selection of higher-end wind chimes. They also have a few things like coffee cups and apparel with wild bird themes Really nice service, and a very nice new addition to the shopping center.
