I have a friend that's engaged that just moved into a new home on previous visits for months in the window I've been seeing the promotional banner poster for the Flying Start Combo. I've been watching YouTube videos and checking out the website and came in with lots of questions the staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and helpful with helping me work through different options as possibilities I saw a lot of really great stuff to concider also for the future, with of coarse the primary goal of along with attracting a variety of birds certanly being woodpeckers! Been to this store multiple times and last visit was the final straw. Not sure if the owner, Diane and the employee, Ken are related. Either way, there is no place to treat another human kind with crappy attitude! While Diane was polite to us, she was very rude to Ken. Apparently she could not hear what Ken was telling her and reprimanded him right in-front of us. Ken attempted a respond only resulting in more humiliation before customers eyes. Nice store earns them a star. Employee or relatives, there is no room for condensing behavior. read more

Well stocked store but the place has been a mess for over a year. Hard to understand why it's taken so long to cleanup. Pleased that the last couple visits haven't resulted in an interaction with the older woman who is a nightmare. The young fellow who is usually there is helpful but not friendly. I assume the two must be related because they are cut from the same cloth for sure and only family would be able to tolerate each other's rudeness, There's a sign in the door for applications. This store has the rudest employees I've very encountered in a retail setting. Not sure who is worse - the condescending younger guy, or the older woman who scolds you if you buy large items that require any physical movement for her to ring up - at a store that sells sacks of BIRD SEED. Horrible!! Every time I go in there's nobody around to help and if there is they will go OUT of their way to ignore you!! Several days ago I came in and of course it was empty and nobody around to help. All I could hear was a loud argument between an employee and maybe the store manager. I've had enough of the crappy attitude towards customers here at Redmond store. Next time, I'm driving to Lake Forrest Park store. Even with a drive, it will be worth avoiding the Redmond store personnel. I'm a patient individual who does my best to be cheery to store associates. Always have been because I've worked retail several times in my life. It's hard enough. There's no excuse to be rude. I seem to avoid the abrasive & overbearing woman who seems to be the store manager. Not sure since she never has a name tag. I've dealt mostly with the man who tends to be curt and seems to have this attitude that I'm disturbing him with my questions. I've been accustomed to brusque cool and polite customer service in Germany, so trust me, I'm ok with minimal decency. I really don't expect much in the way of fake friendliness. I prefer polite though. Before I visited yesterday, I checked out the hours at Google which said the store was open for business. Nothing else. I arrived to see a sign in the window that they were open to either Phone or Online orders. On my phone, I gathered the 3 items that I needed into the shopping cart, then called into the store. The male store associate answered. I told him that I'd like to place an order. He asked for what I'd like... I told him the first item. On to the second, when he was having trouble locating it on his inventory, I told him it was ok if it wasn't in stock. His reply, "I can't locate it (the 2nd item?) on my orders." I told him that I had not checked out online and that everything was in my shopping cart to tell him on the phone. I didn't know which was the easier method for the store order and that I was parked outside. "You are wasting my time." Yes, that's what he said. Out loud. Flat monotone voice, no politeness, no informing me on what was the easier process. No referral on their website. No apology. I honestly do not know why I did not just hang up. Probably because I have parents with young birds in my backyard depending on the routine seed cylinders that I put up. I asked him if he'd like me to check out online. Yes, that's what I should do. And he promptly hung up. I placed my online order. Within 7 minutes, he came around to the rear of my car, opened it up and placed the bag. I even told him thank you and have a nice day. Maybe he said something, but by that point, I was too embarrassed and humiliated to hear him. I doubt it. He doesn't seem to be the type who would. I've purchased items over the past two years about 8 or 9 times, maybe more. I even have a membership. So be very aware. Ensure that if you do want items during the Covid 19 closures, to order online BEFORE arriving at the store or calling them. Apparently, no one could be bothered to place any instructions on the door. Personally, I will no longer "waste" time with my business there. I've had enough of the bare contempt both of those individuals have towards their customers. Or maybe it's just me. I really don't know. Whatever it is. I have better use of my own time. --- Caveat Emptor. Their inventory is great. But their customer service is terrible. read more

Very serious about bird feeders and bird food! Good place to come for some expert advice.

My wife and I love feeding our neighborhood birds. And we love the selection and diversity of products offered at our local Wildbirds Unlimited. We often frequent other WB's locations but we particularly enjoy the Redmond location. Why? Because of Ken. Ken is a long time employee at this store and he provides the best service. Always helpful alway knowledgeable of any of the products sold. If it weren't for Ken. We'd probably just buy our seed at the hardware store. If you love birds and want to meet a wonderful person who is there to enhance your bird feeding experience. Stop by and see Ken!! read more

Overall: A good place to pick up everything you need for birds The ONLY reason I visited Wild Birds Unlimited was because I saw some very pretty wind-chimes in their window. I went in and was greeted by an abundance of everything you'd need to keep pet/wild birds happy. This store also has some unusual and unexpected items inside, such as purses/wallets, CDs, greeting cards, outdoor lamps, vases, coasters, charms and bookmarks. I tried to make conversation with the sales assistant, but she wasn't the friendliest woman on earth. Oh well... you can't have everything, I purchased the wind-chime and was on my way. read more

Wild birds Unlimited in Redmond was recommended to me by several people and I was looking forward to checking it out. Was there today. In addition to the hummingbirds I currently enjoy seeing at my feeders, I was thinking about what other birds I wanted to attract to my back yard and needed some expert guidance. I heard this is the best place for bird feeders, quality bird food, and options for hanging the feeders and it is. This store has it all and the store owner was an amazing resource and took quite a bit of time helping me. I learned about all feeder options, how to discourage squirrels from stealing the bird food, the quality and variety of foods she carries just to mention a few of the topics we covered. As I was impressed with the store owner, the products and enjoyed my time there, I bought the annual membership, 1 feeder and some bird food to get started. I will be back. read more

A note to the owner(s): I don't dislike your products or your store even though your prices on identical items sold elsewhere are quite a bit higher, I can live with that. You have a wonderful selection of bird seed, suet and feeders which makes this hard for me to write, knowing I'd love to give my money to local businesses. What I do dislike is that (older, dark-haired) woman that works there. I have no idea what her name is, but I avoid your store because of her. I forced myself to go there today and literally was immediately annoyed when I saw she was working (this was only the 3rd visit in over 2 years). I just bought the seed I needed and got out even though I wanted other things. She micromanages you while you shop, she comes across as a know it all and is bossy, not even remotely helpful - in fact I bit my tongue but almost said, "do you not want a sale?". Every time I've been in, I'm taken aback by her demeanor and attitude and frankly if you could, I'd ask that you send her packing, unless she's your mom, in which case I'm terribly sorry for you. This woman honestly has no concept of customer service and wants to alienate people rather than ensure their return patronage. P.S. if you dig through my reviews, you'll find very few where I bash an employee directly (I might say the service was sub-par) but that woman ruffles my feathers and I feel it's worth making you aware! read more

Love the selection of everything you could want for birds, squirrels, etc. and have spent much time and money there! Have been going there for years, and decided early on that I won't go in if the dark haired woman is working. As others have said, she is really obnoxious. Surly, patronizing, condescending. Went there the other day for something I wanted that day and unfortunately she was behind the counter, and worse than ever. If she is there the next time I go, I'll leave without a purchase and wait until the male worker is there; he's also knowledgeable, but in addition is helpful and professional. Excellent products and great customer service. The female employee offers good advice without being intrusive, and signed me up for the frequent buyer program. The suet cakes with dried worms she recommended are a big hit w visiting birds especially the flickers. On another visit a male employee showed me inexpensive way to hang the hot pepper infused birdseed cylinders which repelled the squirrels, but are a magnet for the birds. read more

I've been by this store for a long time and just never made it in. So I went by today looking for options for hummingbird feeders. Found what I needed with LOT'S of choices. My wife and I have visited this store countless times now. Diane is a real character with a dry sense of twinkly eyed humor and very knowledgeable about all things bird. Their hummingbird feeders and advice have been particularly valuable. I'm also a big fan of their no mess bird feed and the Smorgasbug suet bricks. The birds who come to my feeders agree. The selection is good. The man who works there (glasses, hat, professional demeanor) is great. He's knowledgeable, polite, seems genuinely interested in birding and in helping others to know more about wild birds. If it was just him and the items on sale in the store, I'd give five stars. The reason for one star is the horribly rude and loud woman who also works there. I was in the store for a total of ten minutes. In that time, she raised her voice and berated someone in a phone conversation, yelled at and lectured the man who works there, and then turned her vitriol on me, the customer. She was rude, confrontational, and even rolled her eyes when I dared to speak. And I was only asking for advice on a certain kind of bird. Just appalling behavior. I won't go back there until I can figure out which days she has off; then I'll happily return to buy from the polite & knowledgeable (and, I suspect long-suffering) man who works there. Best retail assistance in recent memory. The lady who helped me was Wendy. I told her I knew nothing about birds but wanted to start some feeders on my balcony. She asked all the right questions and explained the basic local species and what they ate, complete with visual aids. Not pushy about sales, just super helpful. I love this store and the woman who works here (Diane I think) is super knowledgeable. I don't know why people have said such negative things about her. She really knows her stuff, takes the time to answer all my questions. If I have anything negative to say it's that I always spend lots of money after talking to her. We were in there talking about what to do with the crazy woodpecker attacking my house, and now I have woodpecker food, and an awesome new woodpecker house. This store is the "go to" destination for bird lovers and enthusiats. I have been a loyal customer for years and go out of my way to pick up my feeder supplies from Diane. She is so knowlegable and helpful with tidbits of information and hints to make my bird watching/feeding experieinces more enjoyable. The store is well stocked with merchandise and gift items, and I would have given it 5 stars except I had a similar experience with the sales woman described by Linda and Mary. I was in the store 10 minutes, and was impressed by the selection. I really wanted to look around more, but I was uncomfortable listening to the very intense conversation by the sales woman, who was talking to another customer about woodpeckers. The customer was simply asking her about a woodpecker he sees around his home, but he probably regretted asking. Boy, did she know her stuff about woodpeckers -- sizes, habits, colors, but she was very loud and intense. Her demeanor was stern; like she was correcting the customer, and it was impossible not to follow every word from anywhere in the store. I certainly didn't want her talking to me about anything. If she owns that store, she should stay in the back office and away from customers. read more
