Everything always looks so colorful and gorgeous! Lots of other goodies, too, like delicious baked goods, my kryptonite! I always limit myself to just two items and then round it out with a basket of fresh salad greens, ripe fruit, sugar snap peas and other veggies. Jams, pickled veggies, pepper jelly, local honey, responsibly raised chicken, pork, beef and seafood, oysters - it's all here! Mushrooms, beets, garlic, potatoes, onions, Swiss chard, rhubarb, kale, cabbage, basil, herbs - the list goes on and on. Cheese and olive oil, too. Love all crafts and non-food products, too. One of the vendors makes handmade soaps and lotions. The patterns on the soaps are so pretty and look lovely in my powder room. They smell wonderful and are not drying on my hands. The aprons are also wonderful and come in so many colors and patterns. I've bought several for myself as I'm always cooking and these protect my clothes. I've gifted several as well. Love the handmade birdhouses, so clever! There is jewelry, some carved wood bowls. So many gift items for yourself or a friend. Whenever I drive to the Gorge via the Washington side, which has amazing views of the Columbia, I stop at Stevenson Farmers a market and a few of the shops in town. The Farmers Market is seasonal, Mid June - Mid October on Saturdays from 0am-2pm. I really appreciate that they are open until pm. Plenty of parking. Friendly vendors. Wonderful products. Gorgeous setting.

Place was quite busy on the weekend so we had a little wait. Food was good - bison burgers, smoked salmon soup, Caesar salad, all good. Fish tacos with cod were delicious!

An epic Breakfast menu for foodies and standard fair breakfast/brunch lovers is new and ON at Clark & Lewie's - designed and prepared by Brandy's husband and chef Tony! A "first" review challenge for me: How to write in "groans and sighs." Because words just won't accurately communicate the sophisticated, savory flavors, texture and clear love of food like we experienced. Crepes. Yes crepes! They offer two varieties that I couldn't choose from, so they offered one of each! The first is bacon, cheese and egg, and the second with ham/cheese and raspberry jam? The first bite - oooooohhhh - the texture that hits your mouth says "do I have your FULL attention?". And the first auditory responses are moans, groans and a few unsavory expletives....for which you quickly apologize to your dining partner. And your eyes lock on your food and fork - and then partner - with some serious "affection." Holy crap! Then the biscuits and gravy...equally not your standard fair with ample extra creamy servings of love and satiation. We also had to try an extra side of their potatoes obrian which are also not you standard fair and clearly trying to hold its own as a lead entre vs side. Moist, savory and incredible dipped in the gravy:) And then the bloody Mary's! Please note in the pictures the massive thick piece of bacon, that they cook in the oven with cayanne and brown sugar! And ALL of this backed by a scenic Columbia riverside view with its sleepy, eerie and calming mountain peaks, clouds and shimmering light. I must again reference our (local) server Brandy, and her incredible multi-talented husband Tony- they are the heart behind your entire dining experience. Brandy's piercing blue eyes radiate her love of what she does and her life with her large family here in the gorge. Richness in every level that pleases all your senses and soul. Oh! And with a bag full of breakfast leftovers, we ordered a full serving of their famous beef and elk stroganoff to take home as well!:) We'll be back!

Rosauer's is the most upscale supermarket in Hood River. I love their selection of products…read more The price tags are slightly on the higher side for certain items, but are more or less comparable with Safeway, overall. Their bakery, deli, and pastries are slightly better than the competition, and their natural/health food section is much more modern/comprehensive. From the bakery, I recently had one of their "Persian" donuts, which was basically a frosted cinnamon roll, and it was really good. This afternoon, I ordered a custom sandwich from their deli, and it was amazing. While this wasn't the very best grocery store sandwich I've ever had in my life, it was probably one of the top five. I ordered Black Forest Ham and Swiss on Sourdough with chipotle ranch (instead of mayo) and all the veggies except jalapenos. The customer service was phenomenal. I thought it was kind of weird to stand there and order my sandwich verbally while the clerk took notes like a waitress (management, if you're reading this, please consider putting out sandwich order forms for customers to fill out, like a normal deli), but she did such a great job. She was really sweet, too. When I opened up my sandwich wrapper, I saw a whole rainbow of vegetables, which was exactly what I wanted. I should have taken a picture-- it was a very Instagrammable sandwich-- but I was so hungry and exhausted (it's been a rough few days), I just devoured it like a ravenous feral beast. Everything was as fresh and delicious as could be, and the sandwich was so big I could barely finish it. Definitely top tier for a grocery store deli. I've also stopped by several times now for a few small items at a time, and have had all great experiences. I think I may have encountered some expired chocolate my first trip here, but that turned out to be a fluke, and hasn't happened again since. All things considered, this is my favorite grocery store in the area.

I give the staff a lot of…read morekudos for being friendly, helpful, recognizing customers, etc. The "Huckleberrys" section has a decent selection of organic or specialty items. You definitely have to watch prices very carefully in a number of ways. The regular price at Rosauers will often be substantially higher than Safeway, particularly if Safeway has a special. For instance, Califia non-dairy milks are often $4.49 at Safeway, and today were $7.49 at Rosauers. Sale prices at Rosauers can make things more competitive. BUT... you HAVE to watch the prices as you're scanning or ringing up on your own. I now take a photo of the shelf tags on anything with a sale price. Otherwise, I'd say between 30% & 50% of the time, the price in their system hasn't been updated to reflect their shelf tag price. Even losing $1 or $2 a week on the failure to match system price with a discount price adds up. The bad part of even taking the photo is that if you didn't notice but then checked as you were ready to leave means you have to go wait in the customer service line, show your receipt, phone photos, and item, get it written up, and then get your $ back. So take the photos, watch as it's scanned, and call someone over as soon as you see the wrong price appearing. If you shop there once a week and save $2/week by catching their tagging mistakes, that's over $100 saved a year. It holds true in produce as well. ALSO ... watch carefully for which shelf tag refers to what item. They don't always get them correct, so you may see a tag that says $5.99 for an item, but it's referring to the item ABOVE your item (which is $8.99 instead). Caveat emptor is the reigning motto at Rosauers!

I have also gotten frozen shrimp and bay scallops, both of which have been excellent. The bay scallops, like the clams, are almost impossible to find in the PNW - but they have them and they are fresh. Also, a shout out to the employees - they are always very friendly.
