This was really good, tasty! We heard about the place at our hotel, and thought it sounded interesting. All the dishes on the menu sounded interesting -- not the same-old same-old at generic restaurants. Okay - went for lunch on Friday. Waited almost an hour for a sandwich and a cup of soup. The sandwich order was wrong and the soup was cold. I was told that it would be another 20 minutes to get my food. The sandwich came out correctly, but the soup was still cold! I came back on another day with my daughter - same deal - service was very slow and again, my food came out cold. We live out of town so don't eat here much. This was our 2nd time and were looking forward to it. My wife had the Machu Pichu special which she said was very good. The kids had a tilapia dinner which was fine also. I ordered the Carolina Yardbird. The mashed potatoes were apparently drowned/soaked in vinegar. VINEGAR??? I love vinegar but what in the world is it in mashed potatoes for? I could only eat a couple bites before sending it back. The server passed a message to me from the kitchen that they indeed used to much. Mistakes happen. Now the reason for the 2 stars. The server promptly remade my dinner which was great, however no adjustments were made on the bill. No credit, partial or full, was given towards my meal. The few times this has happened at other restaurants, a full credit is given towards that meal. I'm not sure who is responsible for initiating this credit. This place is fantastic! My family often takes trips to NC, and we always make a point of coming to Hob Nob Farm Cafe at least a couple times on each trip. This restaurant has great vegetarian and vegan options, nice outdoor seating, and delicious food and beverages. I particularly love their Indian curry dish with tempeh, the gouda tempeh tacos, and their smoothies are delightful as well. They have a nice selection of foods from different types of cuisine, and a great selection of drinks--such as mango juice, the smoothies, sangria, and beers--as well. This place is great for any meal of the day. read more

We visited a second time, and I'd rate that one five stars also. But we visited a third time recently and weren't really impressed. Our appetizer, the Bali Roll, was tasty. My Chiang Mai noodle bowl was edible, but was very greasy/oily and didn't have much flavor shining through under the spiciness. My boyfriend wasn't impressed by his Jamaican jerk chicken plate. His beer tasted off. As for the service, we were seated very quickly, unlike the previous two times, and our food came out in a timely manner also. Our waitress was super nice, but also not at all attentive and didn't offer to refill our water in the hour we were there. They are lucky students populate this area and most students haven't had enough dining experience to know good vs bad. I have been three times the first was okay, second terrible, and third the worst. Overall, the service is terrible, wait time on a slow day is outrageous, the food is way to complicated to be good; so much going on it turns out terrible. They are usually out several things. The last point that I want to make is i find it ridiculous it's 2015 they don't take credit cards. Of course they have an ATM for you to get cash that charges you extra.. I understand there are fees for people using cards but given the prices and the amount of people that go there it's simply the biggest turn off about the place. Nice way to squeeze more from your customers. Its an excellent location, cute place, and awesome idea but I hate a place with this much potential uses the easy/cheap way because they can. read more

Went there for lunch today. Our waitress was kind enough to let us know the kitchen was running about 30 minutes behind. It was more like an hour. When the food arrived it wasn't even hot or that good. Neat looking place....perhaps we picked bad items on the menu. With all the other places downtown in boone we won't be back. read more

You must be crazy! The Huevos and the Grannys are AWESOME! two of my favorite things on the menu, actually. The grannys egg sandwhich CLEARLY states on the menu that it has aoili on it...which everyone knows that aoili IS mayo mixed with whatever, there's is a red chili aoili...not a red pepper aoili. it's a spicy mayo...and it's actually not even mayo you jackass, it's veganaise, which is way healthier and tastes 10 times better. That sandwhich is amazing, one of the best things you can get, especially for the price. If you don't like mayo (or aoili) on your eggs, ask for no mayo! it's your fault if you don't, not everyone is a picky eater like you. and there is no way they would ever put a 1/4 cup of it on there...it's more like 1 oz if that. 2nd of all...the Huevos is great. Don't listen to this retard, they obviously know nothing. You can get your eggs cooked however you like them, and the tortillas are not deep fried--they don't even have a deep fryer in that place--they are soft, flour tortillas, inside are your eggs your way, seasoned black beans, topped with a delicious red mexican sauce that's packed with flavor, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, cilantro, and a dab of sour cream....AND homemade salsa, which also has cilantro in it, and garlic, and tons of other stuff... and if you add the spicy sausage...mmm mmm. Also, it's not $10, it's 7.50. Get your facts straight, genius. well, enough said, this place is great. Anyone who says otherwise obviously has no taste in food and would probably be more suited for Golden Coral. Also, try the Biscuits and Gravy. Phenomenal. read more

Our family went in for lunch July 5th 2014 and waited over 2 hours for salads, a hamburger, chips and dip and a sandwich. They apologized but they could have told us that our wait would be extra long. The worst part was that we had 3 tables surrounding us with 4 dogs. The guest held their dogs with paws on the table and we had dog hair flying onto our table. Gross!!!! Isn't their a state law about not having dogs in a restaurant. They definitely should not be allowed to hold them over their table after all those dogs have been walking around on the pavement and ground and bringing that dirt into the restaurant. We don't eat with our feet on the table. Won't eat here again. Gross!!!! read more

I had been to this restaurant a few years ago, and decided to go again with a friend this past week. While the menu looked promising, our service experience was terrible -- the waiters spoke down to us the moment we walked in the door, and all of them were quite rude. All of the waitresses walked past our tables when we were seated, and no one was interested in helping us. I do not believe people working in service should have to fawn over customers -- even being treated with indifference is fine -- but being talked down to by all of the staff we came in contact with was alarming. We chose to leave, rather than continue to be treated so poorly. I won't be going again and will tell others to stay away. read more

The outside seating was lovely this fall evening. The food was fabulous. I have rarely seen such a diverse menu of well prepared food. The nachos were fresh and flavorful. Romaine for the wedge salad gave an unexpected dimension. Arroz con pollo was nicely accentuated by capers and herbs. The chicken dish with plantains, pineapple and bacon was a delightful surprise. My husband devoured the shepherds pie though it was enough good for two, highlighted with colorful vegetables. So why only two stars? The service was horrific! We ordered gluten free because 3 of us have medical conditions. Our food was delivered with "corn tortillas". My daughter prepared a tortilla with chicken, took a bite and announced, "this has gluten in it!" When we told our server HE LITERALLY REACHED ONTO TWO DINNER PLATES AND TOOK THE TORTILLAS OFF WITH HIS HANDS! I am not kidding. No offer to replace the two $15 entrees which had now been contaminated with gluten. All of the other service failures pale in comparison, but I will share. Our water glasses sat empty for 75% of our visit but two other servers did refill us. We were never told of specials. No desert was offered. We had to ask another server to bring the bill 10 minutes after our dining was complete. Go for the good but hope you do not get the server we did. read more

So to be fair, the food I did eat was awesome. The service and lack of responsiveness and course correction is what is leading to this two star review. My food was forgotten while my husband received his (the waiter blamed the printer in the kitchen.) Then it took quite some time to arrive. When it did arrive, it was messed up (I ordered a burger with no onions and there were onions on my burger.) Then when I mentioned the issue, the waiter brought it back to the kitchen pulled off most of the onions and brought it back muttered "there are no onions," and quickly walked off before I could say anything. My husband then had to bring it back to someone else because the waiter was nowhere to be found. He did offer to have it remade after that but I was so frustrated I didn't want anything else to eat. Then to top it off, the ticket was incorrect and the waiter argued about it (so loudly I hear him across the restaurant.) Seriously!? What happened to good customer service? My other question is where the heck was the manager? My husband asked to speak with a manager and was told that the manager was busy. I was so disappointed with my experience. read more

Had my first experience here a couple weeks ago, when I was excited to find them on restaurant.com. Since they are a little pricey this was going to allow us to eat there without it being a special occasion. I had heard great things about the food, and was impressed with their focus on local and organic ingredients. We are locals and do our best to invest in the local economy. My husband and I enjoyed a delicious meal and good service. Unfortunately, at the end of the meal we were informed that our restaurant.com certificate could not be used because we had it only on the restaurant.com app on my phone and not printed out on paper. There is absolutely nothing on the certificate or restaurant.com website that states the certificate is not valid if not printed out. In fact, the smartphone app provided by restuarant.com is one of my favorite features because of its ease of use and also the fact that it saves paper. Hob Nob seems to pride itself on being local, organic, etc, but apparently not on being "green". It was very frustrating and cost us $25 we were not planning on spending. We will not be returning to Hob Nob, and it's a shame as we really enjoyed the food. read more

This was our first visit here. The food was tasty and a good value. The service and management, however, has some room for improvement. We were excited to try the brunch and arrived a few minutes before they opened at 10 am and were the first to be seated in the patio. We wanted so much to enjoy it but experienced too many problems. The waitress was very nice. The problems began with ordering food when we found out they were out of kale slaw which is one of only the three side choices. We enjoyed a few apps including chips with queso and warm Brie app. It took a while to get them but were very good. We then ordered our meals which also took a long time to receive. Our waitress returned as some of our meals were being brought out to let us know that the summer special soup was not available and summer special side item was not available either. Wow ok. Again, we were the first to arrive and order. Our stay took 1 hour and 45 minutes from sit down to walking out the door. Everything took so long from waiting on food to waiting on the waitress to order and run our credit cards. We weren't able to try the summer specials we ordered because they didn't have any. Our family had previously visited this restaurant on our last trip to the mountains. The service was good, food great and atmosphere pleasant. When we came up this weekend we decided to visit again. Not only has the name changed; it might as well be a completely different restaurant! We were told a 30 min wait and waited in hour. Once seated it took 10 min for the waitress to acknowledge us. We ordered drinks asking for an additional round of water and my daughter ordered a smoothie. The drinks were brought with no water and the wrong smoothie. We were so hungry we didn't complain. We ordered food, I asked for my burger be medium. Another 30 min before we received our food. My burger was very well done and my daughter's salad had overcooked chicken. Behind us a table was upset and our server actually argued with them making excuses for the service and food! We paid with cash and asked for change. Another 10 min and the server comes back and asked me "Do you remember how much you paid me?" Then proceeded to say she didn't have .50 of my change but "that's OK right?" she had asked. First visit. Went for a Sunday lunch. There was no wait and we were attended to in an acceptable time. That is about as good as the visit got. Service was a bit slow and it appeared only two servers (one of which was also a hostess) were taking care of the entire floor. I had the biscuit and gravy and added scrambled egg. Big mistake. I don't know how else to say it. The gravy was...TERRIBLE. I've had better at fast food joints for $.99. Upon scraping the gravy off, I found the biscuit to be only okay, but would have been acceptable if the gravy didn't make my stomach turn. The egg (which I was charged extra for) was almost non-existent. I thought maybe they just forgot it, but no, it was in there but in such small quantities, it wasn't noticeable (MAYBE three bites). The meal was an overall failure. Another at the table order the Seattle Salmon tacos. I have never in my life seen so much grease poor out of a taco - ESPECIALLY a salmon taco. There was enough grease in each taco to fill a shot glass and then some. It was inedible. We pointed it out to the server who "remade" the taco. And by remade I mean dumped the same taco inside another taco shell. I express our disappointment and asked for the check. Some time later, another server walked by and asked if we needed anything else. Again I said, the check and expressed to her our disappointment as well . She said, "yeah our tacos are really greasy." Are you kidding me? No apology, no offer to correct or discount the meal. No attempt in any way to give me a reason to return. Just a very matter-of-fact statement like we should have known their salmon tacos were a pile of grease (at a restaurant that promotes healthy, fresh meal options). The attitude and apathy of the staff + one of the worst meals I can remember = I'll never return and I'll advise others to stay clear. An hour later...we both had "upset stomachs."
