The service was efficient and friendly. While they could not make a formal espresso martini, Nicole did her best to offer an alternative which was appreciated. The outside patio looked pretty but it was too windy to sit there. The inside ambiance was more diner style (smelled like it as well unfortunately) and did not match the outside appearance. The clam chowder was hearty and full of potatoes and clams. The highly anticipated brunch burger was a disappointment. Upon arrival, the dish already had a smear of aoli on the side of the plate. Too hungry to wonder if the plate was clean (till after the meal ). The egg was perfectly cooked sunny side up. However, the millionaire's bacon was not thick nor had much flavor. The meat of the burger itself was tasteless and overcooked (asked for medium but showed up well done). Had lunch on a sunny afternoon. Wish we'd sat at an outdoor table as the inside is somewhat small. Nice views of the lake and park. Our server was pleasant, friendly and quick to take our order. The lunch menu had a variety of foods, but not an extensive menu. We had the bay shrimp sandwich on croissant roll with side salad, and seafood pasta. We came here after walking around Lakeport and our host had been here many times and had a good experience. A beautiful place on the water with both indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated quickly but then it was hard to get anyone to take the order. Really needed some water, sure would have been nice to get it soon after we were seated. I had the shrimp salad and found it was just ok....snd very small for the amount of money charged. Everything on the menu was pricey. I guess you pay for the location. Visiting relatives in the area we decided to go out to lunch. This place is really busy. We called to make a reservation for a party of six, hoping for 1:30. They said they couldn't seat us until 2:30. Okay.... When we arrived just before 2:30, there were quite a number of empty, cleared and cleaned, tables. Hmm??? They took us to our table and disappeared for a bit. I can see why the place is popular. It's on the waterfront near the yacht club. They have both indoor and outdoor dining options and a view that is awesome. On to the food. We ordered Gorgonzola bread as an appetizer; it was very good. The table ordered a few burgers, a sandwich, salad, and pasta. Everything looked good. My smokehouse burger was overcooked. I ordered it medium, it came out well done. Dry, dry, dry!!! I didn't send it back because it took a long time to get it in the first place. The servers were not very attentive, and they added a "large party tip" at 20% to my bill. They didn't mention it, and I'm more accustomed to a gratuity being added to parties checks that exceed six patrons. I certainly didn't add any extra, but I don't know whether I'll get back... prices are high and the food was not that great this visit. read more

The Park Place has been a staple in Lakeport forever. My classmates went here for prom in the 90s and many locals love the place. When I shared with a local that we stopped into The Park Place for dinner, they said the restaurant is famous for their great pasta dishes but known in a bad way for their meats as they are never consistent. I wish I had known that before we had the Pork Chop and Steak. Read the details below. I brought my family here over Labor Day weekend on our visit to Lakeport and we had a nice time. It was a Sunday night and there were five of us. We were seated promptly with menus as it wasn't quite busy yet at 5:20pm. There was a person playing loud music in the park so we opted for an inside table. Shortly there after, someone from behind the bar came by to take our drink orders and brought our drinks. The Cucumber Mule was refreshing and a nice start to dinner on a warm night. It took some time for our food order to be taken but the same person from behind the bar came to take our order. She was busting her butt and seemed quite efficient in her work darting from the hostess stand greeting regular patrons, making drinks, pouring wine, and visiting tables. We shared a few appetizers starting with Fried Calamari, bowl of Clam Chowder, Gorgonzola Garlic Bread, and the Bay Shrimp Salad. Everything looked great and most everything tasted good. The Fried Calamari was fried very well and had good flavor even without the dipping sauce. The Bay Shrimp Salad was fresh and yummy with the freshly made Blue Cheese Dressing. As I remembered from high school, the Gorgonzola Garlic Bread was still delicious, toasted just right with the perfect amount of seasoning. The regular Garlic Bread accompanying the Clam Chowder was also delicious. The Clam Chowder not at much. It lacked the flavor of clams and seemed more like a bacon and potato chowder. The Fungo Formaggio Pizza with gluten free crust was very good. The flavors went well and the crust was soft and light but not too thin. My son enjoyed his Mac and Cheese Penne dish. The Spicy Blackened Pork Chop was not blackened nor spicy. It was rather dry and lacked seasoning in the actual meat itself. There was a roasted poblano cream sauce that was good. The Medium Rare Steak and Frites I ordered came blackened and was very overcooked. I waved down the server and said that I had ordered Medium Rare and showed her it was very Medium Well. She said, "Yep, that's over done. I'll get you another one and just eat around it." She never apologized for the kitchen's mistake though, not even later in the evening. I ate the fries and veggies plus the shrimp I had added while I waited for a new steak. The fries were crisp and seasoned well. The new steak arrived and I was pleasantly surprised that it came with fries and veggies again, plus the steak was cooked just right. I ordered a red wine to go with the steak and the wine was very good. Meanwhile, the overdone steak just stayed on the table the entire night. At the end of the meal, the same server came by to offer us dessert. We opted for the Creme Brulee. It was yummy. Overall, I enjoyed most of my meal and was happy to support a local restaurant. For most of the evening, service was OK and as attentive as they could've been except for the aloof way the overdone steak was handled. The restaurant was slammed and there was a line for a table. I did receive a new steak so no complaints there but the server never apologized which I found rude. She did apologize to other people for things happening around our table. The person who brought me the new steak didn't apologize either. A simple, "I'm sorry" goes a long way. read more

I have been a loyal customer to Park Place restaurant for eight years that ends tonight. This week, my fiancé and I both called separately to make reservations for tonight, Valentine's Day. We were both told no reservations for less than five people. So we decided we would go early to be able to have dinner there and we arrived at 5 PM, there were many open tables, we were told that the wait was over an hour, and there were many couples in front of us, but there was no one they're waiting. We asked why & they said people were told to call in a half an hour before their arrival and they could be put on the list. No one told either of us like this when we called separately. We explained that no one told us and she wasn't willing to accommodate us so we left and we're going to The Broiler instead. Very bad Business practice and a crappy way to treat locals who hold up their business in the off-season. It could've been made right in the moment and no accommodation or apology was made. I'll use my dinner dollars elsewhere. I wouldn't plan on any holiday there if you're less than five people because you won't have seating that is assured in any kind of a timely fashion. Have gone many times. The service is slow. I sent back my dinner, the hamburger patty was so small and was burnt on both sides, was so hard I could not eat it. Send back and did not reorder. The next day called to see if they have clam chowder, was told yes. I didn't have high hopes due to knowing nothing about the town or restaurants in Lake County. Such a cute restaurant with beautiful views of the lake. FOOD WAS GREAT! Our waitress, who had short orange-dyed hair, spent most of her time posing for photos -- throwing up peace signs and duck lips -- instead of checking on her tables. We felt forgotten and waited far too long for watered-down soda refills. I tried this restaurant based off the good reviews for a small salad for lunch. The bay shrimp salad was disappointing, in terms of price and portion size I did not think it was worth it for $22-24. If the shrimp were larger and/or marinated/seasoned, the salad would have been 4/5 or even 5/5 imo. I tried it a second time before reviewing, this time the shrimp scampi and was disappointed again. The shrimp had no flavor/seasoning. Two of the key ingredients in a shrimp scampi are garlic and butter, and they were difficult to taste in this dish. Just some extra flavor, garlic, butter, parsley, broth or onion would have made this dish. In addition to the lack of flavor, the pasta seemed a bit dry. The service was good, I did not dine in but ordered to go. I do see some negative reviews on poor customer service but I did not experience that. Absolutely great food, a bit pricey but good portions. A big disappointment however in the Caesar salad which is what I love to eat. They don't use fresh shaved Parmesan.
