Just moved into town, and this was the first Chinese food we have tried. We've really never had Chinese food quite like this... They have all of your favorite dishes and soups , but they aren't full of sodium and additives! Most the time after eating food like this, I end up so thirsty and feeling kinda sluggish. Not here!! The flavors are great and seem to have a very natural seasoning. We got take out for our first time, but we can't wait to dine in. They appear to have an impressive cocktail menu.. Nice place for dinner. Mix of Thai, Chinese, and Sushi. Good list of appetizers, soups, and entrees. I had a salad with General Sao chicken which i had with fried rice. All were very good. Had leftovers which was indicative of good portions. The staff were very friendly and service was good. They also have a bar, wine, and saki menu. This place is not real Asian Food. I have had way better at a walk up counter in a mall. They claim they do fried rice but it's boiled rice with vegetables in it, joke! General Tso's chicken is no way close to hot and the chicken is ridiculously large chunks. Don't get me started on the Pad Thai, no spice no flavor. I love their sushi and had been craving it. So I placed a pick up order. When I arrived there were two others waiting. People continued to arrive mostly take out. I waited 25 minutes and finally inquired as I had picked up my groceries prior to thinking it would be an in and out kind of thing. She comes back and says "this is all you were waiting for?" My son said one of his friends said Wild Ginger was the bomb and begged incessantly for the last week to eat there, this evening we stopped in to give it try. There were three in our party, myself, my 12 year old son, and 18 month old daughter. The parking lot was poorly lit which could be an issue to elderly people and people with small children. It is shared with three businesses and there is a drive thru ATM in the lot as well. Traffic for the ATM drove through the lot at unsafe speeds and there was a line of ATM customers blocking restaurant patrons in their parking spaces forcing them to have wait to pull out of their parking space. There was also a wait at the exit due to road traffic and ATM patrons just driving in front of other cars. Side door of the restaurant facing the parking area does not allow access to building, there is hand written sign taped to the door that directs customers to use front door around the corner on the street side of the building. Older patrons arriving when we did thought the place was closed and they left instead of reading the sign and walking the 400 feet to the front door. There is a small waiting area with seating for eight to ten people just inside the second set of entrance doors. There appears to be a bar with stools and a small sushi bar with a cooled sushi display case. We were seated right away with no wait time. Dining area is smaller than I expected based on the exterior of the building. Our table was right next to the restrooms and it was crammed up against a half wall and a set of stairs. Wait staff and patrons using restrooms constantly walking by and bumping the baby's high chair. Menu looks large when they hand you the large black binder, but it is mostly sushi and drink choices. Spicy foods are clearly marked, but I don't remember if there was a kids section or alternative meals that a picky child could choose from. My 19 month old daughter did not eat well here, she ate the orange slices used to garnish the Hong Kong Chicken, a bite of an egg roll, and a few noodles. We ordered three egg rolls, lettuce wraps, and a eel and avocado sushi roll for starters. The egg rolls were served first on individual plates with a bit of spicy sweet and sour sauce after only a few minutes. Two of the egg rolls were still cold in the middle. Only thing I remember about them besides them being cold was that they tasted like black pepper. Wait staff said he would mention it to cook when he brought the lettuce wraps. Lettuce wraps served on one plate, we used the egg roll plates to eat them until the server just came and took them away. Main entrees were Hong Kong Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken with white rice. Meals come with white or brown rice, vegetable fried rice can be substituted for an additional $2. Portions are generous which is good if your sharing dishes or feeding a small child off your plate. Sweet and sour chicken was standard Chinese recipe. Hong Kong Chicken was interesting, menu said it was kind of orange flavored, it had a ceamy pumpkin or squash with a slight orange flavor. The chef plated the Hong Kong Chicken in a beautiful and visually appealing manner, it is too bad it looks better than it tastes. The eel and advocado sushi roll was delicious but rather skimpy. Not sure why it was brought out after the main entree was served. Sushi roll was followed by the combination lo mein platter. Lo mein was also visually appealing with jumbo shrimp on top, but the noodles were really salty, flavor was great with the shrimp and the beef but over powering with the chicken, noodles, and onions. High chairs are available, no kids menu or kids section in the menu, no changing tables in the restrooms. Since there is a bar, I asssume intended patrons would be adults at least after 5 and on weekends. Cash only if spending less than $10. Cost of today's meal was $62.99, $75 with tip. If our whole family of five were to eat here the bill would easily be over $100. read more

One star missing due to the appearance of the exterior. Does not look appealing or inviting..but once you walk in & get through the checkout/carry out room..it looks great! Nice bar area where you can opt to sit at & enjoy fresh sushi while watching the chef prepare your meal! Service was top notch, extremely attentive though there were only a few others in the restaurant when we were there. She was very friendly, kept checking to see if we needed anything & offered up her favorites when we asked since this was our first time visiting. The pan fried potstickers were fantastic, we had the Mars Roll & the Asian Fusion Roll, both were fantastic though I preferred the tuna over the salmon on the Mars Roll. Had a nice bottle of Chardonnay that was put on ice for us & our glasses poured. In town for a funeral and ordered take out. Tropical, Crunchy and Great Harvest rolls along with edamame. Absolutely delicious. Definitely give them a try. If I could give a zero for owner being shady and untruthful in pricing I would. I have been eating at this establishment for years both take out and dine in. When I have ordered odd amount of sushi, for example: like tonight I ordered 4 California rolls and a salad. In past they have said it will be cheapest to get the California platter which comes with 3 California rolls and a salad instead of what they owner did tonight. See below picture. He charged me individually for each California roll and for a salad. When I kindly called him to inquire why? " You did not say platter and that is prepared different" I'm calling BS! I hope the extra $$$ you charged me was worth a life time of never coming back to your establishment or recommending it. SHADY!!!! Even better he calls me back and leaves a voicemail saying " that his workers only heard 4 California rolls, not California platter so it was misunderstanding, that next time we are in he will fix it." What a Liar, this is the exact same person I spoke with to place the original order. The last two carry out orders have been a definite sign this place is going down hill. Last night I ordered two Mongolian beef entrees with white rice and ended up with mostly sautéed onions, badly under cooked rice, very little meat (maybe 4 pieces per entree) and little to no brown sauce. Egg rolls even seemed sort of chewy. Unfortunately for Wild Ginger there is no third chance to get it right because their menu has found its way to the recycle bin. Well I have ordered and taken home from this restaurant a couple of times. Today I decided to come in and dine. The building they are in use to be an upscale Steakhouse 10 years ago when I use to live in Lancaster, since I have been gone this place has taken it's place. The inside is nice, pleasant, a touch of Asian but I can still see the Steakhouse around the edges. They have decorated but not improved the property so it's just a little worn down. This place obviously owned by a family, children quietly in the wake but does not take away from the atmosphere. I appreciate families working together and the children seeing their parents making a living. The food is good, above average, the sauce taste fresh not canned the vegetables are fresh you can tell, the meat is real not that pink slime. The sushi is good but I was a little disappointed the crunchy tuna roll was all chopped up with spicy sauce and crunchy in the tuna mixture. I ordered a traditional roll which is only $6.00 but 6 pieces nice size pieces most rolls have 8 pieces but not a major deal. I like the fact they have a dessert menu. I have order to go the Thai red curry chicken which is spicy but very good. I can't eat it off the menu I order it half strength so tread carefully in their hot dishes they do mean spicy hot. This is nice enough for a date, a little romantic around the edges or family dinner. Lunch is $8.00 to $13.00 but good portion. Dinner runs $11.00 to $17.00 sushi could run less. read more

I'm honestly impressed that I found a sushi bar in Lancaster, OH that has my stamp of approval. I wasn't expecting much; just a quick bite next to my hotel. Normally I've had decent enough food here. Last night was a disaster with the exception of the average egg rolls. I ordered veggie fried rice. Most receipts I see for fried rice recommend using cold/refrigerated leftover rice so that it separates and you don't get mushy or clumpy rice, and it absorbed flavors. It is obvious that they used fresh hot rice out of the steamer. The rice was still white, not golden brown, was mushy and had absolutely no flavor. It was horribly disappointing to the point that it will be a while before I return again. read more

Mine came 15 minutes after everyone else's. When we talked to wait staff, they were great apologizers. Must have had lots of practice.
