Ambiance/Atmosphere: it's small and clean on the inside. When really busy it can feel pretty crowded. Food: The food here is really good. I don't eat Chinese food all that often, but when I do this is definitely the go to. Orange chicken: excellent tang with the subtle orange flavor and always fresh and vibrant. Crispy, juicy, and every bite full of flavor. Best orange chicken I've had. General Tso: A delicious rendition of this classic American Chinese dish. Crispy, flavorful, spicy, but still a slight sweetness. This is a must order every time. Honey chicken: The crispy honey chicken is really good. The crispy salty sweet chicken is a perfect subtle sweet pallet cleanse from the other more savory items. Chicken and broccoli: An excellent pairing with fried or white rice, plenty of chicken and broccoli in the portion. Flavor is good and not oily, but really just your average chicken and broccoli. Cream cheese wontons/crab Rangoon: Crab Rangoons are my mom's favorite and so whenever they're on a menu it's a must grab and Dragon Village executes these perfectly. Great pairing with the sweet and sour sauce. A delicious balance between a slight sweet and savoriness of the cream cheese filling with the crispy shell. Egg rolls: The egg rolls are delicious. Quality of food has declined greatly in the past year or so. I don't know if they have a new cook or what. Their meat dishes are very stingy with the meat. When I ordered combination rice (egg included per menu), there was no egg. This has happened more than once so it's not a one time thing. as a chinese american alum from denison, this place was #my second home. so hear me out. precovid (2016-2019 dine-in, take out review) i think this is probably the best you can get in a college town of thats so white and so far away from everything. you gotta be strategic when ordering because i've been here so many times, so many. yet i haven't tried the whole menu. chinese cuisine isn't general tso, "lo-mein", or crab rangoon. so getting that for myself is an insult to my chinese roots. but i give dragon village props because they are AGAIN tailoring to another ethnicity that has a very warp perception of chinese food. i recommend the egg and shrimp, mapo tofu, scallion beef, FRIED DUMPLINGS; not boiled, with the sauce on the side, and their yang chow fried rice. their beef and CHINESE broccoli is also really good. my recommendations are probably the safest and most delicious food on the menu/"secret not so secret menu" FOR more experienced mouths. i want to come back when i'm back in ohio to give them some love and anything for nostalgia. pictures are from 2016-2019. read more

New Dragon Village is the best Chinese in Granville. It's one of the few options. This is the same menu as the other locations in Buckeye Lake and Pataskala. It's pretty much the same menu as any Chinese carry out. They have some good healthy choices though. I had the General Tso's Tofu. It's about $8 for the lunch portion. This comes with mostly tofu. It's crispy without tasting burnt. The sauce is spicy and thick. It was kind of sweet but it really added lots of flavor. There were a few vegetables. It could have used more but these tasted good. They tasted fresh and not like they were from a can like so many other places. If you go to New Dragon Village the food comes out fast. It won't be a wait for long. My sister and I headed to Granville for a weekend getaway, but didn't get in until late our first night. So, we figured Chinese food was obviously our best option. We stopped at the New Dragon Village and picked up some General Tso's, veggie Lo mein, has crab Rangoon. They didn't give us napkins or utensils-- luckily I had some in the car. They also didn't get give us soy sauce. I ordered a General Tso's chicken dinner and wanted to substitute rive for veggie Lo mein... They gave me the full order of chicken-- like a whole container full, and the Lo mein in a separate box. It was only $4 different than the combo dinner I ordered, but still, $4 I didn't plan to spend. The food had okay flavor. Chicken was a little bland for General Tso's and the veggie Lo mein didn't have any veggies in it.... it was actually just plain noodles-- which was weird. The crab Rangoon was delicious, though. It was clearly made with real cream cheese and had a good amount of filling. I'd only go back if people I was with wanted to eat here. read more

I am a denison student about to graduate, and I wanted to thank Dragon Village for always being there for me. Whenever I felt down or too depressed to cook for myself, Dragon village always cheers me up. Just yesterday, I ordered the red bean Tangyuan after my boyfriend of 3.5 years broke up with me. Overall, if you need some decent Chinese food quickly, this will fill your needs. The fried rice isn't the best around- it's dry and somewhat flavorless, but everything else on the menu is fine. I recommend the combo plates for a good value meal. Includes an entree, rice, and an egg roll. It's a lot of food. I also especially enjoy that they have an alternative menu for the local international college students who want a taste of home. Anyone can order off of it and it's delicious. Seems like a stereotypical cheap Chinese restaurant, so expectations aren't high. Mixed bag in terms of quality. My biggest complaint is that their fried rice seems to be extremely lacking as though it came frozen and wasn't cooked all the way. I won't be getting the fried rice again. On the plus side, the Sesame Tofu was absolutely amazing!! I ate it all in two helpings which is unlike me! The spring rolls were also tasty. New Dragon Village is your standard Americanized Chinese restaurant. It's cheap and the meals are served in large portions. I like how the restaurant has a cozy and clean ambience. The service is nothing special as they will basically make sure you ordered your food, you have your drink filled, and your food is brought to you. I had their Szechuan beef, egg drop soup, egg roll, and fried wontons. All of the food had flavor, but was not robust. A better name for this restaurant would be the Unhappy Dragon. My three kids, my s/o, and I were walking around Granville on a little weekend trip when we saw the Dragon Village. Chinese food really sounded good and the kids were even polling for it. So in we went and grabbed a seat toward the back of the restaurant. Then it started. The waiter came out and threw the menus at us like he had been practicing throwing playing cards into a hat and just couldn't keep his wrist from repeating the action. That was weird, but maybe he didn't mean anything by it. We got our food one meal at a time with uncomfortably long pauses between the arrival of the next. The food wasn't bad even though a few of the orders were wrong. We let the incorrect orders go because the server seemed like maybe he was having a bad day and whatever, it's mediocre Chinese food and not really worth the effort anyway. At some point I left to get one of the children from the bathroom and when I got back my s/o and the server are having some sort of uncomfortable stare down. I sit down and I'm told that when she asked him for some to-go containers the dude freaked the hell out, slammed the containers down on the table, said something vicious in Chinese, and left to the back of house slamming the door behind him. My daughter said she was uncomfortable and just wanted to leave. I turned around and the server was back out to front of house standing behind the bar roughly 35 feet away from my nearest kid just glowering at us. He made eye contact with me and held it. Life experience told me that this guy was irate and maybe a bit unstable. His head seemed to be shaking a bit and his eyes seemed to be watery with what I can only assume were rage-tears. I wanted out before the situation escalated and the Village Dragon snatched up my family in its ugly, gnashing teeth. I looked back one more time thinking that surely I was misreading this. "Can I help you with something?!" he spit at me. So I scooped up my kids and got them the hell out the door. Very disappointing. It was a nice day, and we thought we'd eat right outside the restaurant. My husband got the Sesame chicken lunch special, and it was very good, and a large portion. I got a large Szechuan shredded pork. It was mostly onions! There was hardly any pork. I would have normally eaten only half, and had the rest for a second time. But I found myself still hungry, and playing "find the pork," before I threw the container full of onions in the trash. Mine alone was $11. Way too much for a quart of cooked onions, with a couple of strands of pork thrown in. It was also fairly bland. I do not recommend this place. read more

I was disappointed with my sweet and sour chicken this time as there were no pineapple or carrots included--it was just the chicken and sauce. I want to commend Dragon Village for the effort they have put into adjusting for the COVID crisis. They have put up partitions for safe ordering (keeping both me, and their cashiers, safe), essentially building a small temporary room in the front of the restaurant. Food is still always ready 10 minutes after I order. This isn't the greatest Chinese food in the world, but it's fast, inexpensive, and tasty -- exactly what I need it to be when I'm hungry and lazy (i.e. often). read more

The biggest problem is getting what you ordered when you call for take out. There is a real problem with whomever is answering the phone. It's apparent that the order we gave on the phone didn't get back to the cooks. After getting hot red peppers on curry chicken, the next time I said NO PEPPERS. I got red pepper flakes..too hot to eat. The third time I said NO HOT PEPPERS I got pepper flakes again, and the brown rice was (I think?) fried rice that was wet and soggy. Clearly not brown rice. Listen, I've lived in Granville my entire life and I've never seen a restaurant like this. The Granville Inn and Buxton Inn don't compare. The food is excellent and the service is top notch. I've noticed horrible reviews and I completely dissagree. Sitting in here now, I've noticed that there are very rude people that live in Granville. The table beside me is treating the waiter like he's a piece of trash. People are giving this bad reviews because they are uptight, prude, filfthy rich Granville people who think they deserve to be treated like a princess (Denison Golf Team). I was thrilled when I heard the Granville was getting a Chinese restaurant. THRILLED! I had such high hopes, daydreaming that we would be lucky enough to get a mom-and-pop Chinese restaurant serving home-made recipes with fresh ingredients. However, my hopes were not fulfilled. Dragon Village is neither charming nor cozy enough to be a mom-and-pop establishment, and the food is anything but fresh. I have been there three times and was equally disappointed on every occasion. The food is not awful, but it's not *good* either. When you order a dish, it is not cooked so much as assembled out of multiple pre-packaged ingredients that were mixed together and warmed. For example: the beef and broccoli consists of pre-cooked beef added to steamed broccoli mixed in sauce. There is no stir-frying to facilitate the melding of flavors so delicious in good Chinese cuisine. And the fried rice is obviously pre-packaged as well. It has no flavor, is often only lukewarm, and has those nasty little pre-cut carrot chunks that you find in canned soups. Eww. Also, Dragon Village makes the mistake of so many Chinese restaurants: they submerge their food in a sauce puddle. For this or other reasons I have felt slightly ill after every meal that I have eaten there. The lunch prices are decent, but I would not recommend paying a full dinner price for such mediocre food. The service is attentive but never terribly friendly, and the atmosphere is...bizarre. The walls are bright orange, the tables/bar are tiki-themed, and the chairs are uncomfortable.
