Located inside the Hilton, we went here twice during our stay and had amazing experiences. Lindsey and Cat are wonderful bartenders! They are friendly and Lindsey makes an excellent Espresso Martini! We also had breakfast/brunch the following day and the food was great. We were greeted immediately by Miguel who seated us and got us waters, and Cristobal was our server. They both were attentive and super nice. My BF had an Omelette with ham, onions, and spinach and he enjoyed it. I went with the T.A.B.L.E. Sando and I loved it! This sandwich is a take on a BLT but elevated! Added to the classic BLT is avocado and a fried egg. The bacon is thick and yummy, pecan smoked and is delicious. The heirloom tomatoes and lettuce are so fresh and it's on multigrain bread with umami mayo. I can't stop raving about this sandwich! The decor is cool with hares everywhere in pictures and statues, even in the hotel lobby. The restaurant and bar has a lot of light since surrounded by of windows so nice having the natural light during the day. Was staying at the hotel and decided to stop by Wild Hare to kill time and use my hotel credits. I got a lemon drop martini and roasted vegetables to snack on. I'm not sure what vodka they used for the lemon drop, but it had an extra rubbing alcohol-y flavor for some reason, but still delicious! The roasted vegetables were also great! It cane with asparagus and broccolini, and gave me my much needed nutrients for the day. The bartenders were both super friendly, and made sure I was doing okay the whole time! We visited after the Padres game on Wednesday, 9/24. My brother made a reservation for 6. The bill came to over $200, which was pricey but we were at the Hilton in the Gaslamp Quarter so not surprised. I was ready to leave a 5 star review because the ambiance, food, and wait service were outstanding. BTW, we felt our carne asada tacos tasted like carnitas although the server confirmed to the contrary. Our taste buds insisted otherwise. However, we found out the next day we were overcharged and attempts to speak to anybody to correct this have been futile. My husband spoke to someone who informed him he needed to speak to the accounting department then this person hung up on him! He did finally speak with someone, who assured him the accounting department would call him. What started out as a pleasant experience is now a continuing nightmare. Wild Hare needs to contact us and reverse these charges. Trying to get this resolved is like going down a rabbit hole! read more

Even with its location across from the SD Convention Center, we didn't encounter any waits and were seated right away during Comic-Con weekend. The bunny wall art and sculptures were cute and quirky, and obviously the rabbit themed food and drinks added even more appeal to this inviting setting. For drinks, we got I'm All Ears which was yummy with a light and refreshing strawberry flavor. The 24kt Rush was on the sweeter side, I suppose a good dose of honey in this cocktail. For food, we had an order of chicken wings with buffalo sauce, which was pretty standard, but juicy and tasty nonetheless. And I absolutely loved the ahi tostada. My bf wasn't a big fan of the fusion type dish, but we both enjoyed it. The blend of ingredients was fresh and delicious, with a light crunch from the wonton and the avocado puree adding a nice flavor. Service was great too, ensuring a bun-tastic experience. Service: took our server, Kayla probably half an hour to give me the menu 2. Food: for a nice hotel, their food is way below the standard. Took them another 30 minutes to actually prepare a smoked salmon toast that requires ZERO cooking. I asked if its long because they had to walk out and buy their ingredients? The server, Kayla, instead got so snarky and rude. The food itself tasted bland and sad. Yet pricey. Kayla did not even bother to bring me the check 20 minutes after we were done eating. We spent AT LEAST 2 hours at the restaurant because of reckless and ignorant service. Either Kayla is incompetent, or racist. Though maybe the whole staff is just rude because I tried to share my experience with the cashier (had to walk to the cashier because Kayla was CLEARLY abandoning us), and the cashier does not give a bit of concern at all. Booked this experience after seeing it advertised on instagram and I should have known better. Cute animations but the food was really lacking, especially at the price point. The burrata salad was okay, although the tomato compote was kind of boring. The seafood bisque was cold and thick and the seafood was fishy and overcooked. Wish there had been a bread course served with the salad or soup. The lobster was steamed well and was garnished with caviar and sea beans. This was my favorite dish. The steak was horribly overcooked. There was no option to order the steak any specific temperature, so we assumed it would be medium rare. It was grey and chalky and overcooked. The "au poivre" sauce was just straight up ground pepper gravy - no peppercorns and it was really bland. The mashed potatoes were watery and runny. The carrots were still hard and undercooked - not al dente - CRUNCHY. The dessert was tasty but one of our three diners got a ramekin without the sugar syrup on top bruleed. It was just liquid syrup. At this price point, the food should have been MUCH better. The emcee ran the final animation even though my daughter had to run to the restroom quickly. Wild Hare Bar Garden is the updated in-house restaurant and bar at the Hilton Gaslamp Quarter Hotel which underwent a multimillion dollar refresh. The rabbit theme is in homage to the earliest inhabitants of San Diego. As a matter of fact, the Gaslamp Quarter was known as "Rabbitville" back in the day. A large 225-pound rabbit sculpture with a sleek metal finish can be found near the reception desk. There were two separate dining areas on the ground floor. One was adjacent to the bar while the other was a covered outdoor patio. A film crew was taking some footage when I arrived. The bartender initially informed me that I would have to take my order to-go. Luckily, they were starting to pack up so I was able to grab a seat at the bar. A small two-sided menu sheet featured ten small plates on one side and five large plates, one salad, and one dessert on the other side. I chose the Grilled Octopus to start my meal. Two grilled tentacles were served with pickled onions, rocket greens, lemon vinaigrette, and crispy potatoes. The tenderness of the octopus was good, but what was better was the crispy char. I could smell the smokiness emanating from the dish when it was brought out. The other item I ordered was the Pappardelle. I was not as impressed with this pasta which had heirloom tomatoes, roasted mushrooms, wilted garlic kale, and manchego cheese sprinkled on top. For the $27 price tag, some type of protein should have been included. The bottom of the dish was quite oily underneath the noodles. The ambiance was neat although all of the art featuring the creatures were more jackrabbits than cute cottontails. I hope the kitchen will expand the California cuisine offerings as they seemed limited for a grand opening. With locally sourced meat and produce combined with organic ingredients from the chef's terrace herb garden, the potential is there but so is the competition with numerous restaurants just steps away from the hotel. read more

TLDR: there's so many better choice for food in SD - go elsewhere. The waiter was nice, the place was nice, and the pics look amazing. Problem is the food was a HUGE disappointment. Things sounded tasty when reading the menu but I honestly don't know where their 4 star rating came from... possibly strong promotion from staff to post or a past incentive to patrons to get something out of it? I felt saddened that in a city of great food options, we landed here thanks to Yelp and wasted $162.38 doing it. We ordered: 2 PB&J kids meals. My son enjoyed his sandwich. For the adults we ordered ahi tostada, short rib fries, saucy sliders, carne asada tacos, and the salmon entree. Somehow everything was tasteless and dry - almost as if the food was precooked and microwaved hot before coming out to us. The sliders were TRASH. The fries were even dry AF despite being covered in wet season less meat. Visited for the Le Petit Chef experience - the creativity and playfulness of it were amazing! Unfortunately, it was overshadowed by terrible execution. Firstly, we are welcomed by a host who basically says "you'll be watching 5 videos, about 2 minutes each, and will be served your meals by course. Stay for a 6th video at the end, which are the closing credits". That killed what magic we could have been anticipating at the beginning! Everything else seemed so curated I would have at least expected a sceip Then, despite the dining room being ready for the next course, we waited at least 10-20 minutes in between each. I do have a food allergy, which was not asked about when booking - specifically mussels/clams - which was in one of the courses. Bummer. As someone in hospitality, I also noticed the servers placed silverware on the outside of the tables, not to the guests right consistently. A little detail.
