My friend and I stopped at Wild Rice in Fairfield for some sushi last week. Upon studying the menu we decided to get Pad Thai instead. We also got a roll of spicy tuna sushi and a seaweed salad. This was all to share of course. Wild Rice is in downtown Fairfield. You can sit inside or outside. They normally have specials for lunch, but not on Sundays or holidays. We got Chicken Pad Thai, which was a very large portion. It came with crushed peanuts, and very tender and finely cut chicken. Being unaware of how large the Pad Thai would be, we also got seaweed salad, which had a bit of a kick to it, it was delicious, and the perfect serving for sharing. Lastly we got a roll of spicy tuna. It was very weak. I've for sure had much better sushi in the past. It may not have been fresh this time, something was off about it. The Pad Thai was so delicious, it was fresh, flavorful and very filling. The peanuts and lemon juice were an excellent combo in this dish. The service was very quick and pleasant. I'd come here again, for the Pad Thai and the seaweed salad.

I am not typically an aficionada of Asian food, although I often like it. This place is check, check, and check! Foods = delicious! Portion size = enormous (like 2 or 3 meals in 1 serving!) Prices = bargain Location = top in Downton Fairfield Service = courteous Atmosphere = nice and big, but can be overcrowded at peak hours. Can get uncomfortably overcrowded. You may need to wait a little on days like Friday or Saturday night where so many people go out for dinner in Fairfield downtown at the same time. The place can get packed during then, but otherwise should be fine during regular days. What stands out as so stellar for me from this place remains the food, from simple appetizers to classics like Pad Thai, to exquisite desserts. I didn't expect it initially, Bravo.

During quarantine I decided to try Wild Rice out after years of dining in and everything was fantastic! The presentation was even beautiful. We got "sushi 4 me" which is 8 pieces of nigiri & spicy tuna roll -- the freshest fish I have had in a while especially during quarantine and for to-go! My boyfriend loved the lobster Rangoon so much he wouldn't stop talking about it for days (haha) they were so creamy and even delicious re-heated after we got home! I personally loved the kani salad... perfect amount of dressing to crab/cucumber and the flavor was spot on! It honestly felt not like to-go and as if we were dining in the restaurant that's how fresh everything really was! Props for that during a pandemic -- highly highly recommend for dining in or to-go in the Fairfield area!!!

The Pho comes with complimentary black hair! Disgusting and disappointing.

I am SO disappointed. I was just delving into pho tonight from Wild Rice and when I was about to take my first bite of noodles I was met with a black hair. My meal has been unfortunately ruined. I hope Wild Rice enjoys the $30.00 of charity that my family has given to Wild Rice tonight because the meal and evening have been ruined. Wild Rice, you have lost a customer. What a shame. I am truly saddened and disappointed by the lack of sanitary precautions. I was so looking forward to this meal, but now I will never be walking into the doors of Wild Rice again.

    Lunch sushi special

Amazing sushi place!! I ordered the lunch sushi special (pictured below) and it was delicious! It came with amazing miso soup! For an appetizer, we got sesame noodles! They were so delicious and the sauce was authentic and mouth watering. We also ordered the chicken fried rice and it was delicious. The veggies were crispy! The waiters are super kind and helpful! Overall, great place for lunch and dinner! Definitely recommend!

    Mandarin chicken is pretty.

I ordered the mandarin chicken, and shared some steamed pork dumplings with my friend, who ordered sushi. Service for food was pretty fast, but I would have been surprised if it were not (as we came at 3:30pm, and the restaurant was empty except 4+ employees). The chicken was pretty, and decently good, and deserved a 4/5 rating - about as good as expected. I was disappointed that the breading was very thick and too crunchy (thick and soft or thin and crunchy would be better). My main complaints are that (a) the server didn't pay attention to our waters even though we were the only customers in the restaurant, and once it took 8-10 minutes for him to refill them (2/5) and (b) the food was about 20-30% more expensive than it probably should have been, which I guess isn't too surprising given the area. I don't count this against the restaurant, given the circumstances. The main redeeming factor was that the dumplings were amazing. Had I tasted them before ordering my other food, I would have just ordered more dumplings instead. I very highly suggest them (6/5). An additional thing to note: there was really nice looking outside seating on the sidewalk. We didn't sit outside because it was 85º and humid, but I would consider it next time. Overall, I recommend this place.

    Heaven!

I went here again yesterday and had another amazing experience . Ordered the shrimp shumai which should get some kind of award because it's the best ever. Also ordered lots of different kind of sashimi and it was out of this world delicious- and the pieces are very generous, which doesn't seem to happen very often at other places. My friend had the pork fried rice and that was excellent too. Great portion sizes - but you actually get what you pay for and then some! The drinks were another big hit nice and strong and TASTY. Service was very attentive . If your looking for excellent sushi / Asian food look no more - this is the spot. This place is my new #1 spot for sushi. Don't think twice just try it out you won't regret it!

Really flavorful and satisfying. I also got a bottle of guava soju and it paired well. For dessert, we tried the Korean donuts and I loved them. They came warm, soft, and coated in cinnamon sugar with a sweet cream dipping sauce. Honestly some of the best donuts I've had, they were fresh, warm, and delicious. I'd come back just for those alone. I heard their fried chicken is good, so I'll definitely be back to try it. But those donuts? 10/10. Would absolutely recommend.

The shop looks small from the outside, but once you step in, it's surprisingly spacious. Clean, well-lit, and nicely laid out. Comfortable for dining in. We were seated immediately. Our hostess, Amber, was very patient and helpful since it was our first time. We decided to order a little bit of everything, and that was the right move. We went with the five-piece drumsticks, split half soy garlic and half Korean BBQ. The chicken is double-fried, which gives it an incredible crunch on the outside while staying juicy inside. The soy garlic was savory with a touch of sweetness and very well balanced. The Korean BBQ had more heat and bold flavor, coated in a sticky, sweet-spicy glaze that keeps you going back for more. The meal came with coleslaw, which honestly surprised me. I'm not usually a coleslaw person, but this one worked. Lightly sweet, creamy, and refreshing. It paired well with the chicken and helped cut through the richness. We also ordered the seasoned fries, and they were excellent. Crispy, well-seasoned, and topped with garlic, parmesan, and parsley that actually added flavor instead of just looking good. Easily one of the better fry sides I've had with fried chicken. Everything came out hot, fresh, and clearly made with care. If you've never had Korean fried chicken before, Bonchon is a great place to start. I'll definitely be back.

Ive been there for dinner time as well, it's lively, loud in a good way, and immediately feels like somewhere you could stay for hours. I ordered the miso ramen, and it was honestly one of the most satisfying bowls of ramen I've had in Connecticut. The broth was the star of the dish its deep, rich, savory, and layered with that perfect balance of umami and subtle sweetness from the miso and a bit nitty form the sesame seeds. The noodles had the perfect texture: chewy, springy, and able to hold onto the broth beautifully. Nothing was overcooked or mushy . What impressed me most was how balanced the ramen was. Some ramen spots go overboard with salt or spice, but this bowl felt refined. Rich but not greasy. Flavorful but not overpowering. You could tell there was actual technique behind it. The portion size was also generous enough to leave completely full without feeling uncomfortable afterward. The service matched the food perfectly and so freaking sweet. We also really enjoyed the kimchi carbonara and personally, I'm a sucker for udon noodles! And now the star of the show for me and something I've ordered three times now! The crab fried rice! Not a chain restaurant and not very big. As it turns out, it was a perfect combination for an UH-MAZ-ING meal! Literally, upon entering the front door, a curtain pulls to the side as we entered the restaurant. A nice little touch like you're entering a whole new world. It's a quaint little spot, maybe 20 or so tables total and some bar seating available. We had a small group of 7 and fit right along the far wall. Asked for some special favors from the hostess and she was more than accommodating. Our server, Julia was phenomenal. She gave us some time to socialize, choose our meals and looked after us as if we were her only table (while taking care of a couple other tables at the same time).
