We have dined here a few times before. I thought it average americanized chinese. Went last night with 3 others. Service poor: main dishes did not come with serving spoons, we had to ask for them; water was not refilled, we had to ask for refills. Food atrocious: the mandarin beef was drowning in a thick, gooey syrup; a thin, stringy beef center covered in fried batter; the sesame chicken again drenched in sweet sauce. Pan fried noodles with shrimp and chicken were without taste and the noodles were chewy, not crisp as they should be. If you go, ask for all sauce on the side. The hot and sour soup was over-spiced. The hot tea was more like lukewarm water with no perceptible tea -- as if they used a tea bag for the third time. Do the cooks here actually taste what they prepare? More importantly, do the __owners__ actually taste what their restaurant is making? I doubt it. Seriously, it is far healthier eating at McDonald's, which has better service, better tasting food at a fraction of the price. The only thing I "enjoyed" at Wild Rice was the white rice. The chairs are comfortable but bulky and about a few inches from the other table; I felt cramped in. Parking is a pain, but that goes for all businesses in this area of Fairfield. What will it take to get consistent, at-least-average asian/chinese food in this area! read more

Delicious food, always fresh sushi and very fast service! They offer dine in and take out which really makes things quite easy especially when you're in the mood to stay in and enjoy their great creations. We had the spicy tuna roll along with the cucumber avocado roll which both were excellent selections. Of course you can never go wrong with edamame which we also enjoyed as well. I came at 10PM, asked if it was too late to be seated, was told no. Ordered food by 10:15, service was excellent up until about 10:30. Our sever disappeared and one of the kitchen staff kept hovering over us and they cleared our plates when we were still eating, despite us constantly saying so. The food was good, no complains. However, don't come in an hour before closing because we were being rushed when it wasn't even 10:30. The restaurant closes at 11 and despite us not being the only people still eating, for some reason one of the chefs felt it was necessary to rush us. read more

I've never paid $100 for worse service for a dinner for 4. Although the food was ok the painful service earns this restaurant a 2-star review. Our family of 4 went on a Monday night when nobody was left and still the waiters couldn't wait until we ordered, ate and left - they hovered and rushed us, banging serving tools, plates and glasses of beer around us noisily, making us feel like they would rather be doing anything else. Went for lunch on a Wednesday. Seated immediately. Good service. Second visit. Had the Special Pho. Quite authentic. Big bowl filled with meats rather than just noodles like in a nearby place. They have a great Pad Thai. Generous portions and kind waiters. They also have really active and hands on management! My boyfriend and I sat at the sushi bar because we did not want to wait and no body else wanted too, but it was a great decision. Came here with my family on Christmas Eve. I called ahead and was told no reservation was needed for 3, and when we got there it was only a short wait at the bar. The place was packed. The waitstaff seated us, gave us menus and were very accommodating and friendly, not pushy by any means. We moved to a table within five minutes. Food came out quickly and was fresh and delicious. Nothing but rave reviews for the chicken broccoli dish, veggie fried rice and scallops. Our glasses were refilled frequently. It suddenly starting snowing heavily outside and the entire restaurant was in awe; the super sweet waitresses offered to take pictures of families outside in the snow. The food is delicious but priced higher than other restaurants. The brown rice is a wild brown rice, hence the name of the restaurant. No delivery service. Great place for Asian Fusion. I'm able to get my normal Chinese food order while my family/friends can get the sushi they love. I don't like raw fish, so I usually get vegetarian rolls. We went again Tues. nite around 9:00 & the server told us "we would have to hurry up and order as the kitchen was closing." Rude. And a couple left bcz they were told the same. A good sign u say? Maybe, but I want to just chill out and relax but its a little noisy & rushed which I feel takes away from the experience. The interior is typical trendy "modern" Asian fusion. the smoked salmon rice is excellent but has dried cranberries (?) which detracts from the dish over all, the Thai fried rice is really good but ask for it "well done" or it tends to be too soggy, chicken lettuce cups are very flavorful & served w Romain lettuce(I prefer round Boston lettuce), Tiger roll, King Crab & avocado, spicy scallop avocado, were all good, nice Saki choices ( I like the pear), as well as a full bar. Sushi sliver with tendon we ordered sashimi for dinner and one of the pieces was made up of small slivers of fish attached to one another by tendons reminiscent of an accordion. We showed it to the owner, hoping she provide the chef with some feedback, but instead she asked us "is this not what you ordered"? We won't mention the fishy smelling octopus. Four stars for food - zero stars for management averages out to two stars. For the past four years my husband and I have eaten at Wild Rice every weekend because their sushi is consistently good. We are such 'regulars' that our waitress knows our order and doesn't even need to offer us menus. Never in the hundreds of visits we've made to Wild Rice have we ever been offered a complimentary beverage, appetizer etc to thank us for our weekly loyalty. During the pandemic they had been closed and as soon as they reopened I purchased a gift card from the owner to give to a friend. Thrilled to see them reopened I went back two days later for takeout and was told it would be a 30 minute wait. I arrived to pick it up and joined two gentleman and a woman on the sidewalk in front to wait for my food. The owner handed out a beer to one waiting gentleman and a glass of sake to the other man. He went back into the restaurant knowing the woman and I were waiting also and never acknowledged us or offered us a beverage. The food was an additional 30 minutes late and all three other waiting patrons received their food and left. Additional patrons arrived. A lovely woman apologized for the delay; the owner never appeared again. Delays are understandable - his RUDENESS is not! You've lost a long-standing loyal customer. What a shame because your sushi is consistent but I can find it elsewhere and will not patronize such an inconsiderate and unappreciative owner. read more

I ended up at wild rice again, this is not a bad thing. Last night I tried the pork belly appetizer. We bought another it was so good. Finally a place that can cook pork belly properly and knows what to do with it to make it fantastic. The buns that it came on were off the charts and the slaw was sweet and tangy. The whole family was pleased. I had the Pad Thai and it was delicious with lots of shrimp although it could use some heat. My kid's loved the sesame chicken and lo mein. It's also great to see a wine list that is reasonable. You can get a decent bottle for $26.00. This place will be around for a long time and I will definitely be back. read more

It is consistently crunchy, with the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The Thai fried rice is an underrated item menu perfectly cooked and super flavorful. Love this place! My daughter, who originally told me about Wild Rice, has been going there for six years but I'd never made it there until about two years ago. Tends to be crowded on the weekend between six and eight but that's understandable because it's a very popular place. Great food! Great service!
