Their food presentation and preparation is so creative and with such exquisite flavors that one cannot help but smile when indulging in a meal at this quaint restaurant. This is one of few classy restaurants in Spokane and it really has never disappointed--even for us vegetarians. Even though the menu was almost entirely meat options, they were more than willing to accommodate us with substitutions and even some options that weren't on the menu for whatever reason. We got the Yukon Taquitos and they were fabulous, though the sauce was spicier than we expected. For the main dish, we got the Mushroom Ravioli (which is not listed on the menu) and the Bahn Mi Sandwich (substituted the duck for sweet chili tofu) and it was honestly better than I was expecting. I'm used to tofu being rather bland as a substitute but they really seasoned it well and it really was a well-executed substitute. The fries on the side were very good also (though a bit too salty for my taste). As always, the popovers were great--love those things--and we finished things off with the Chocolate Hazelnut Cake which was really good. Not too heavy as one would expect. Definitely recommend this restaurant for people looking for something a little higher class in Spokane--they do a great job and the service was excellent as well. read more

Wild Sage Bistro, you've won me over! It's a quaint, small restaurant where it's classy but not formal. From sit down to departure, we were definitely taken care of. Our waitress was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. We started with a mocktail, virgin pomegranate mojito, and a Guiness. I'm not much of a drinker but I wanted to try something different. Their mocktail mojito was a perfect blend of refreshing zest of lime, mint and pomegranate juice. It was delish! And Guinness was a Guinness. For the app, we tried their poblano artichoke dungeness crab dip with blue corn chips. What flavors they exude! A bit of roasty poblano, zesty lemon and cheesy goodness. Our dinners were spectacular. His half pound burger was fresh and cooked perfectly medium. It was placed on top of a soft, onion bun with toppings of chopped bacon and a side of avocado. My seafood dish was the bouillabaisse and it was divine, minus the fact that it was a bit too salty. The dish consisted of a couple of prawns, mussels, little scallops, halibut with shredded fennel in a tomato broth. That seafood was so fresh and tasty that it was worth $27.00 for the small amount of seafood. Honestly, I'll take quality over quantity any day. Last but not least, the desserts. We tried their homemade ice cream and "soon to be famous coconut cream cake". The ice cream was okay, nothing to write Yelp about. Now, the coconut cream cake, that was tasty with the passionfruit glaze on the plate. First off, it's sooo aromatic and yes, it's tart but it goes perfect with the sweet cake. The Wild Sage burger is very satisfying, but the MSG fries I would argue are the best part. On top of this, I would argue that burgers, though delicious, might not be the best way to enjoy A1 beef. Spokane is surprisingly a foodie-festival filled mecca of excellent food and great restaurants. This is especially frustrating when only in town for one night and just want to eat at every single one. On my first "official" visit I decided to check out Wild Sage Bistro. Located away from the "fancy" part of town in an up and coming gritty neck of the city is a one of the cities destination restaurants. My friend and I arrived at 7:30 and found the place to be buzzing filled with excited patrons. We took a seat at the bar and were handed both a menu and the very much needed cocktail list. Lets talk cocktails shall we? After just a few seconds of looking over the drink list, I realized that this place is serious about their cocktails. Even their house margarita is old school traditional opting to not use Cointreau or triple sec and let the fresh squeezed lime and silver tequila speak for itself. My friend went with the "Old Fashioned", bourbon and muddled orange served on the rocks, this drink was outstanding! My drink however did not hit the mark with me. I went with the "Ruby sidecar" which is mixed with a house made infused brandy. The preparation on the menu appealed to me, but it's purple and sweet and kind of a girlie drink. It was good, but just not for me. But don't let my one drink experience scare you away from trying the other cocktails. After a few minutes of sipping on our cocktails, it was time to order our dinner. We passed on a starter, but this was hard to do as there were so many yummy looking options. But we were given a basket of rolls made on site that were out of this world. The butter was flavored as well. I'm telling you low carb people right now, do not skip the bread basket! Finally decisions were made, my friend with the chicken stuffed with fontina. This dish was served with mixed greens and cheese grits. I went with the gnocchi primavera (otherwise known as the Dalrymple special). My primavera was one of the top two primavera dishes I have ever tasted. The light cream sauce was truly light and totally worked with gnocchi. I did my best not finish off my plate, but seriously could have finished it off. Both dishes were amazing. The wine list is also super awesome with plenty of reasonably priced bottles. We went with a bottle of Justin cabernet (from Paso Robles) priced at $44. It might have been a little hearty for my friends chicken, but I loved it. Great service and excellent restaurant. read more

Oh what can I say about this gem in downtown Spokane? Well, I'll tell you! I can say plenty! My hubby and I came here for our anniversary dinner date, and were blown away! The restaurant is comfortable, charming, and romantic. Our server, Landon, gave us spot on world class service! He wasn't too pushy, didn't come over every time our mouth was full of food to ask how everything was, and had a smile on his face the whole time. It took a great dining experience to a whole new level and made it an event! The food was gorgeous looking AND tasting. Well executed plates of delicious food, and a spicy sage lemonade that you must try! Tart and slightly sweet, it looks like an innocent lemonade, but after an herb-infused sip, the jalapeno gives you a little love tap! My hubby had the chanterelle mushroom chicken, and I had the duck breast. Succulent, flavorful, and delicate. We had creme brulee and the coconut cake, both exquisite. The creme brulee was sweet, creamy, and studded with real vanilla bean. The coconut cake was surprisingly made with almond flour, but it was so moist--not easy to do! The meal ended with a box of two truffles made in-house, because we came in for our anniversary! Very memorable! read more

Great place that gets everything right. Food is fantastic and not overly pretentious. Sampled multiple items from the menu and they were all wonderful. The burger is juicy and flavorful, calamari tender, and the steak done to perfection. The sides accompanying the dishes also great. (Not really a fries girl but these were wonderful and the pop overs you get also lovely.) Service was attentive and knowledgable. Had some great wine pairs with my meal. Wild Sage has a fantastic tapas menu for happy hour (Monday - Thursday 3:00 to 5:30pm & Friday - Saturday 9pm to Close). White Cheddar Fondue ($6): hands down best dish we had. The fresh garden veggies and local mushrooms were well seasoned and perfectly cooked, we all wanted more than the three mushrooms we got, so delicious. Garlic Prawns ($7): four prawns, well seasoned, but overcooked. I'd say pass. Mediterranean Spreads ($6): hummus olive tapenade, roasted red pepper spread, spanish olives and grilled dill pita bread. Nice spread, definitely made to be shared. Spanish Olives, Tapenade ($3): pretty much a mini-version of the above dish, either will suffice, both were redundant, wish the waiter would've told us. Overall, the restaurant is beautiful, a little more upscale, and our server was friendly, great option for happy hour. read more

Our friends took us to this place. The atmosphere was amazing. The restaurant is beautiful. The potato empanadas are the best thing in the place so far that I've tasted. To be fair I only went there once and I only ate the empanadas and the Banh Mi Sandwich. When I saw the Banh Mi Sandwich on the menu, I got super excited! I'm from the west side of the state where Banh Mi Sandwiches grow on trees over there. This was the first Banh Mi Sandwich I've seen since moving over here from the west side. To make a long story short, it took me days to finally poop after all that gut rot feeling. I don't know what was in that sandwich, but I don't think I will ever order it again. I'm sure all the other food was exquisite as the rest of the people in my party fully enjoyed their experience and their food was amazing. Best Food during my 3 days in Spokane!!! I was beginning to think only Seattle had great food until someone recommended trying Wild Sage out. It was our last night and I was hoping for a great meal or I was going to be disappointed in Spokane. Upon arriving we noticed it was busy and on the smaller side so thankfully we got there late enough that there were tables opened. We were shown our seats after a short wait and instantly had our server come by. He was extremely helpfully being our first time there; I wish I remembered his name he was great and funny. Anyhow the food, we ordered the Yukon Taquitos because they looked interesting and were recommended. All I can say is that they were amazing, little deep fried tacos with potato, cabbage, and avocado inside and a bit of spicy sauce to dip them in. Everyone at the table thought they were incredible. I need to try to make them at home, wow!!! I ordered the Dry-Aged pork chop and it was cooked to perfection and still juicy with amazing taste. The others ordered the burger which was perfected cook and big and the wife ordered the duck which she was thoroughly impressed by. I really wish they were not a 5 hour drive away because I would come here once a week. Amazing is all I can say, but I think I would make reservations if I was going again because it seems to be a popular place and not surprising at all. read more

Each one of them was very passionate about their experience they had here... so I was a little concerned my dinner wouldn't live up to the hype. I was wrong. Absolutely EVERYTHING I had here was amazing. I can not think of a single thing that displeased me. I was in food heaven! So -- here's what I ordered -- all of it perfection: Crisp Bacon and Bleu salad. Wild Mushroom Ravioli Meyer Lemon Cream Brulee Vodka Martini with bleu cheese and bacon stuffed olives Blueberry and basil martini. We were seated in bar area, so our server was also the bartender. I had the fresh Chilean sea bass for dinner. It was delicious!!! Perfectly cooked, and that huckleberry sauce....oh my!!!!! An all around great dish!!! My husband had the fresh liver, which he loved. It's not my thing, but he thought it was cooked well and was very tasty. For dessert we had the coconut cake with lilikoi sauce...mmmmm!!!!! What a Spokane gem for fine dining with casual dress. For this visit, our nieces suggested the restaurant and we were not disappointed at all. The menu selection was excellent. Our server Melanie made the dining experience enjoyable as we were celebrating birthdays and an upcoming Gonzaga student graduation. We started off with the delicious Chickpea cakes paired with our Cote Bonneville Chardonnay. For our dinner entrees, we had a wide selection of the menu-seafood fettuccini, the duck, the pork tenderloin and the steak. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. The entrees paired well with our Cote Bonneville Syrah. These entrees would have also paired well with the Cote Bonneville Train station or Carriage House that is on their menu. For dessert, the heavenly coconut cake is a taste of Hawaii. We went to Wild Sage it was amazing!!! I wrote a really long and detailed review and the Yelp app lost it. So I'm just gonna say it was amazing. Everything was delicious. I have a lot of food allergies and chose the Mahi Mahi it was their special for that week. The Brussel sprouts they included with the dish were cooked to perfection and had just the right amount of flavor with garlic and bacon I think. It was all so delicious!! We started with the tapas platter $14 which changes at the chefs discretion and a pomegranate-lemonade virgin spritzer. The drink was a bit too sweet for my taste the plater was delightful. Before our entree came we got popovers for free! I was so excited because I've heard about these little bites but had never had one until yesterday! They where delightful too. Our entree was their trout dish $21, I forget the name of the dish, but it had tomato, quinoa, rice, arugula, and a nice white sauce which what looked like green onion or chives. My wife and I are not very tall or round so we where able to share everything. With tip we spent about $52.00 and where stuffed. We really wanted dessert but our stomachs couldn't handle anymore food AND we ended up takin leftovers. read more

The Taquitos alone are rockin! Great lil restaurant in Spokane. Ordered the duckling. I've been watching a great deal of Duck Dynasty lately and felt inspired. What's the hype?
