Cold Stone Creamery, tucked away in a small strip mall in the heart of Eagle River. It's a small ice cream shop and a perfect addition to the options in the town. They have all the obligatory flavors and toppings of any ice cream shop worth their salt and they have great customer service to boot. I've been in the shop in the middle of the day when it's slow and 8 PM on a Friday night when they're swamped and they continue to serve customers with the same diligence and eagerness to serve. Awesome little location and these ladies are so sweet. I have been very pleased with our icecream trips. We have a keychain discount thingy that we got from a fundraiser and when we went to redeem it they actually let us hold onto it for our next visit. That was very generous of them! No flexibility whatsoever. Came in for 2 malted milkshakes. They were out of cups - okay, bad planning- no problem. Please put it in one of the other tall containers I'm staring at in the back. I came here with my Wife and Son. The gentleman that we worked with was great. My wife is gluten intolerant and needed some special care. He was awesome. My issue is with his coworker. I was next, but instead of taking my order, I was given the excuse they do orders by groups, and she then proceeded to take the orders for the people that came in after me. She said it was their policy. If that is the case, it is horrible customer service. I did not buy anything for myself after that interaction. I will take my family somewhere else that takes customers in order. It is a shame a place would use an excuse and fall back on a policy, when the policy can go against good customer service. It's a shame too, because they do have a good product. A few years ago, my wife wanted something special for her birthday (Red Velvet and Cheese cake iced cream) and Cold Stone was one of the only places that had both flavors. read more

I love this Coldstone! It wasn't busy when we went in to get a cup. My favorite flavors are cake batter, sweet cream, and regular strawberry and chocolate. I'm not too adventures with toppings. Yes, it's a Cold Stone and there are many like it, but this one is in Eagle River, because there are a lot of ice cream choices you can get. I've never noticed it's a lot quieter inside. The cashier lady who works here keeps the business running and she is really nice and friendly, and I also ordered a pink lemonade ice cream, and it tastes pretty good. Coldstone Creamery is great! They always have delicious ice cream and the franchise in Eagle River has always been good about service when I've been there. They have also always been generous with prizes for the Chugiak-Eagle River Nordic Ski Club's annual "Ski the Beach Race" held at the end of February or first week in March. I have taken my family members here for several years and have always found the ice cream excellent and the service very good. When they are busy you have to expect to wait. If you want it fast go to the gas station and take a pre-made choice from the freezer. Cold Stone offers many variations of ice cream, toppings, creations, delivery modes and they have to make sure they understand what you are really ordering. It is half the fun trying to figure out what flavor and combinations you are going to try this time. You can multiply that 10 times over with three grandchildren changing the minds and selections as the server confirms their choices. This is my favorite ice cream spot to go to. Ice Cream is literally my favorite food and I'll even eat it for breakfast. I try to go at least once a week as my budget allows but sometimes I go longer in between visits. The staff is always super friendly and it's definitely worth the splurge. Sometimes they can be very packed which kinda sucks. And the staff seems to be predominantly high school/college age kids. The establishment is clean and has a small selection of seating. The only thing I would complain about it I feel like their cakes have gone down a little in quality in the past few years. But their ice cream is still great. read more

I oftentimes come to this particular cold stone because the staff is very friendly and sweet! I have found that there are more flavors and fast service! I never have problems at this store but there's one girl i cannot stand. I believe her name is Taylor, she has horrible customer service, never smiles, always has a bad attitude and seems as if she doesn't want to be here. No other employees act the way she does, in fact tonight i was helped by a young gentleman named joey and was very pleased by his service. The store was very packed and line out the door; he kept a smile on his face and seems to enjoy what he does. He was fast and very patient given the fact i tried multiple flavors. My fiances and I were at this location for 40 minutes last night waiting for our ice cream. There was a family of 3 in front of us, but didn't order anything that should have taken very long. The girls moved very slow and seemed to move slower as my fiance started voicing his frustrations. The girl making my ice cream took her time while she flirted with a young man waiting behind us. I talked to her about her pace when we finally got to check out. My fiance didn't even order ice cream for himself because he didn't want to wait another 12 minutes for her to make his (that's how long it took her to put the ice cream in my hand after I told her my order). I told her that we had been there for over 30 minutes and that it shouldn't have taken that long for ice cream. She said her manager was supposed to come in, but didn't so they were short handed tonight. I looked at her and told her that she had no sense or urgency and that she made no attempt at speeding up the process as the line of customers increased. She ignored me and SLOWLY handed the receipt to my fiance to sign. I am a kind person but I honestly wanted to shake that girl. She should consider herself lucky to even be employed and I hope management will step up and do something about the way their customers are being treated. If she doesn't like her job she should quit and make room for someone who will appreciate having money coming in. There is no reason to inconvenience strangers because you're unhappy serving ice cream. read more
