Highly recommend if you're exploring Hoonah! It's a $10 shuttle ride or 1.5 mile walk…read more Came here for a port call and this place was the highlight! We opted in for the $10 shuttle to downtown Hoonah and it stopped right infront of this place. The staff was very friendly and recommended the burrito, which my husband got. He said the burrito was delicious. I got the Right On- omg amazing but portion size for 2. Love the gravy and the biscuit! Perfect savory goodness I wanted. We also got 2 coffees that were great and we continued to drink them as we explored the jetty. The layout was perfect; we opted in to sit inside but they also have seats outside.

My visit last year here was amazing, beyond reproach. They might deserve only 3 stars this trip, last trip was a very solid five. Gave them extra star due only to being locally owned. For the food, it definitely went downhill. Last time biscuits were more flavorful and the gravy was delectable and full of many flavors. This time it's slightly better than the canned country gravy. The eggs, while can tell they are eggs, are extremely dry and overcooked. One of the ladies that helped me seemed to have a wedgie, very tight mannered, kinda pleasant but not at all. The other one who helped me was vice. Still enjoy the location overlooking the dock with some mountains in the background. Don't know what happened but hope they improve to last years level. Really sad, really truly sad. Couldn't even finish the whole plate. Maybe I'll be back if bored bit ship has better food this year. Which is also sad. Edit: Wish could remove the tip, not at all satisfied with service.

Surprisingly, there aren't many places in Juneau where u can get fresh fish (that isn't fried). But…read moreThe Hangar impressed- they have a huge menu of traditional fare, so easy to find something for everyone. We got the "First Mate Plate" @ $33.99 (combo of fresh halibut & salmon), and (2) Halibut Tacos @ $26.99 + substituted the rice & beans for a cup of chowder:$4.50. This was so good, we came back the 2nd night and got the same thing! We were a party of 2 - 1st night had reservations and got seated right away; 2nd night walked in and got seated after a 5-minute wait. I think it's the larger parties that have to deal with the long wait or we were just lucky. Call in for reservations regardless. Noisy & busy but good food & good service.

After years of searching, I have found the best onion rings and calamari, right here in Juneau…read more It's a huge plate of crispy calamari with tartar and cocktail sauce. A lot of places have shrunk their calamari serving size down and serve it with an aioli that isn't always great. The basket of onion rings were crisp and hot with the right texture. I know it's frozen but it's the old fashioned onion rings that many places have changed the breading or undercooked or overcooked. Employees are very nice here. Our server was so nice. She checked on us a few times and refilled our drinks. We also had the one pound Alaskan king crab legs. It was just the way I remembered having it when restaurants used to serve Alaskan king crab legs. They're super fat meaty long legs. It was warmed up and served with lemon and butter. It was just enough for two of us. It probably would not have fed my son. He is a big eater and he would have ordered a steak. If I was hungry or had a crab craving, it might not have been enough for just me. We've also been over eating on a cruise ship for 6 days. We shared the apple crisp ala mode for dessert. It was not crisp but it did have some crumbs thrown on top like a cobbler. It was in a warm sauce and topped with ice cream. It's a cute place with a wharf view. The tables are not on top of each other. They gave us plenty of napkins and a bib too. If I lived in the area, I would be back every month for the calamari & onion rings, and yes the crab legs. The Diet Coke was perfect too, just enough syrup and carbonation. I would definitely come back if I was in the area.
