Can't imagine ever missing this show. All the volunteers are great, commentary spot on, and everything on the show itinerary is entertaining. Tips- bring earplugs! Long sleeves and pants (both thin though) to shield you from the sun but not get too hot. I've seen way too many walk out with bodyparts looking completely pink(please bring your sunscreen). Cash is better when buying food. Also if you live a bit further away I suggest bringing a change of clothes for after- depending on how the wind blows that day you might not like smelling like a firework the entire drive back home. We drive to the show each year (vs taking the bus from one of the lots) and it's almost an hour drive back, so I prefer to change when I get back to my car. Though this year the wind had the smoke moving away from the crowd.

They gave us a bucket of hay and spent half an hour with two of the little ones. Afterwards, we were allowed to walk around some of the property and see the other animals and I would have sat there and watched them all day if I could. It's not legal in Texas but I didn't see cops wandering into the crowds to do anything about it. Why two stars? Litter! Loads and loads of tossed trash on the ground. I'm gracious for the celebration moved to downtown from the Gayborhood of Montrose area in 2015. That was my first year dealing with this organization. We had glitches but they were fixed quickly. During 2016, I thought 2nd year would be a breeze but something felt through. We lost communication until a month before pride event. Once we were engaged for a week, then it was silence. My group was anxious to get answers that I couldn't provide. I blame it on their failure to stay organized. Others blamed it on the inside politics of this and that. Since I was not an insider. I couldn't speak for whatever they do. My group paid big money. We expected some service for the value but it was not there. After many people using many different ways to communicate with them, emails finally resumed just a week before the parade. I wasn't involved with them in 2017. But I had to pass my knowledge down to next person in charge at my group. Well. Guess what? Same problem. Who can you complain this to? Nobody. Do you go somewhere else? No. Because this is all we've got. So, tell them to get their act together. Outside the houses, there weren't any roaming actors either, which is usually one of my favorite parts. The scariest things of the night ended up being the cockroaches flying around and landing on people. A few actors even warned us to watch out for copperheads and a rat... not exactly the spooky vibe I was hoping for. Overall, it was just meh more creepy crawlies than actual scares.

This was the first time I've had iced tea that tastes like my grandma used to make and which I've not been able to reproduce. So good. Fairways and tee boxes are hard as cement except for the areas where there are irrigation problems and those are flooded. There is no drinking water or beverage service on the course so prepare ahead. This entire club is just tired and worn out.
