What a crock, lesson learned be very careful at these home shows across the Nation going on they will tell you anything to get into your home. The show itself was not too bad. Many exhibits and things being sold. Nice way to spend the day. Just did not like being misled about cost of product just to get into my home.

Reason enough really but then I learned that if you volunteer you get free beer. Free beer?! I'm all in. After volunteering now three years in a row I've learned there is more to this than beer. We raise funds for needy organizations and have fun doing it. Wow. Back to the beer ... there are hundreds of different taps, bottles and cans of craft beer to be tasted. From the big names like Ballast Point, Dechutes, Shiner and Goose Island to the Houston favorites like Buffalo Bayou, 8th Wonder and Karbach. Most of the brewers have their pro staff nearby to tell you more about there brewing process and some of the subtleties of that blend which you may not pick up right away. Kinds of hops, barrel wood and water source aren't often written onto the can ya know!? Live music is played on two stages while people walk from booth to boot and sample. Other booths have t-shirts, mugs, and other fun stuff for sale. Many of the sponsors have booths set up with deals at venues like Top Golf, Remax and so forth. Food? Man there are all kinds of food stalls available ranging from my favorite the Venezuelan "Essentials" to my second favorite which serves lobster rolls. There also Greek, Asian and of course Texas style brisket.

I had been wanting to check out The Polish Festival for years and finally made the trip to the…read morenorth side this year. The festival is always on the same weekend as the Japanese festival which is inside the loop so I've been too lazy to make the trek. The Polish festival is held at their church and admission is $5. You can either pay to park in the church parking lot or park for free in a grass/dirt lot adjacent to the church. Be prepared to need a carwash after leaving the dirt lot though. Once you get in, you'll have to buy tickets for food/drinks. Each ticket costs $2.50. For most, you'll be paying $20 for a full meal. The food is catered from Polonia, the Polish restaurant close by. There are a good amount of options including kielbasa, pierogies, Hunter's stew, cabbage rolls, fried pierogies on a stick, a sampler platter, etc. They also have complimentary pickles and bread. As far as entertainment goes, they had Polish karaoke and traditional Polish dances throughout the day. Various little businesses have booths selling your assortment of crappy knick-knacks and there was also a silent auction inside. So basically, your main attraction is the food. Given the price point and the location, the Polish Festival is one of those cross off the bucket list items for me rather than a yearly tradition.

The food for one was Bland. Polish food is *not* supposed to be Bland. Stingy with the portions and it wasn't hot enough. The entry fee is only $5 but still. I've Never had to pay for an entry fee for a festival:/ The dancers and the D.J. did do a great job. The decorations were nice and the people are great. Just Something off the list but Hey if you love experiencing different cultures, like me check it out.

All their set ups are so cute and there are plenty of learning stations for kids too. It's a great variety of stations for all kinds of interests. They give you a token to redeem for a free snack at the end of your visit which my kiddo loves every time we come here. The staff is always very friendly too. The only thing I don't love is that you have to make a reservation for the play session you want and it's not that long. I can understand that it's probably for the purpose of cleaning in between sessions and regulating the amount of people coming in but I think for the price it should be longer play times. I also wish there was a membership option. But other than that we still love it here.

It may be obvious, but it certainly did not cross our minds before our first visit - there is no shade as the show takes place on an airfield...pretty hard to have trees where planes take off and land! Pack sunscreen. Bring water. Wear a hat. Take hearing protection. If you are committed to staying a while, bring folding chairs.

Can't imagine ever missing this show. All the volunteers are great, commentary spot on, and everything on the show itinerary is entertaining. Tips- bring earplugs! Long sleeves and pants (both thin though) to shield you from the sun but not get too hot. I've seen way too many walk out with bodyparts looking completely pink(please bring your sunscreen). Cash is better when buying food. Also if you live a bit further away I suggest bringing a change of clothes for after- depending on how the wind blows that day you might not like smelling like a firework the entire drive back home. We drive to the show each year (vs taking the bus from one of the lots) and it's almost an hour drive back, so I prefer to change when I get back to my car. Though this year the wind had the smoke moving away from the crowd.

The claw machines worked well moving the item closer to the drop box and the process was actually fun and challenging. The worker was amazing, sweet, he answered all of our questions, and even helped us out when he saw us struggling with one of the games. I didn't have high expectations of walking away with any prizes because I'm use to regular arcade claw machines where you spend so much money and walk away with nothing. I love that this business has games starting at just 1 token and some going up to 9 tokens. And even if the claw machines aren't your thing you can definitely expect to win something from the capsule toy vending machines. They have a great variety of cartoon, anime, and nostalgic items, including stuffed animals, toy figurines, keychains, and building blocks. They have something for everyone. I didn't see any food or drinks for sale, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby if you want to grab something to eat afterward. The ambiance was clean, cute, colorful, bright, and very eye catching which is what made us stop in the first place. I had a lot of fun and definitely recommend checking out Claw & Fun for the experience. If I'm ever in the area again I would most definitely stop in!
