Dropped off my 2002 Toyota Sequioa at 2:30 Thursday with a potential throttle body problem. Was told that repair could be several hundred to a thousand dollars. Within 45 minutes I received a call, and Jeff, the manager, was almost laughing when he told me they found a piece of plastic in the throttle body. It took less than an hour and a labor charge only. When I picked up the car both Jeff and Dustin, the mechanic, were amazed this was the problem, and we all laughed about it, not knowing how this could have happened. When I arrived the mechanic asked me some questions and said the description didn't sound like an alignment issue and recommended I go back to the place that did a recent tire balance & rotation. Why can't I give these people ten stars?!?! My first experience was after seeing a "low coolant" notice in my car for a couple days. Knowing that was not good, I found a time during my lunch break to have them check it out. The place is kind of hidden and low key so there wasn't much activity or a wait. They were very friendly and greeted/acknowledged me immediately upon entry. I was praying I didn't have a leak and a huge bill to pay, and also that it would be quick because I needed to get back to work. They had my car done in 15 minutes, said I just needed to be topped off on coolant and that I owed NOTHING. So this is where I'm coming whenever I need my car looked at, probably for the rest of my life. -------- Update a month later: Turns out my car needed a new water pump and I was low on coolant initially because of a tiny, unnoticeable leak. The freezing weather agitated it enough to make it a big leak. It was frustrating because the pump was just replaced somewhere else 3 years ago. They showed me the leak and even offered up the information that it looked new. Also pointed out a cracked belt I could see and helped with another squeaky belt that was driving me nuts. I asked for an oil change too and after 3 hours of labor my total was $612. They were very upfront, respectful, professional and helpful. I've been to some places that even if the experience is okay, the mechanics seem a little sketch. The guys here remind me of like a nice uncle or family relative you can trust ;D The only things I'd mention are that the closing times listed on yelp aren't totally accurate, so make sure you call ahead to ask when exactly they close for a particular day. Also, an oil change here is $40, when I know other places it can be only $25-30. But neither thing is a dealbreaker. Come spend your money here! read more

Not impressed at all. I spoke with Jeff about a simple wheel alignment on my truck, and he told me they did not work on late 80's Chevy trucks. What??.. There's no logical reasoning for this as they are one of the most simple and mass produced vehicles on the road (especially in Texas). Both gentlemen at the shop were courteous and helpful. The facility appeared clean and well maintained. Great place! Dropped my car in for a brake job Sat morning. There was some question on when we could come pick it up and Jeff was willing to accommodate us if we were going to get there late. We didn't in the end, but it was nice to know he would have. He gave us a price range from least to worst case, and in the end only charged us the least. He didn't try to upsell us or tell us we needed something we didn't need. Frankly, it was refreshing not to have to say no to additional 'services'. A service station we can trust?!?! WHO KNEW? I first met Jeff and Scott because of Wildcat Automotive's support of LHHS student organizations and have been bringing our vehicles here ever since for regular oil changes and other maintenance. Recently, I sought their "second opinion" on an exorbitant quote from the dealership on some extensive work that needed to be done (new axle, CV boots, tires, alignment, troubleshooting mysterious system alerts, etc.). I got tired of constantly being overcharged at Toyota dealership, but it's been a pain trying to find a fair yet good quality mechanic. Praise the Lord for Yelp because this place is it. I hate waiting, so I called ahead of time on a Wednesday afternoon to see if they were busy. I told him about the noises and maintenance light, and he gave me an initial assessment of what was going on with my car. He also told me he would be free in 45 minutes, so if I wanted to bring it in then, I could. Well yes - you just awesomely gave me a free assessment. So yes. I'm bringing my car. When I arrived, I met Jeff, the owner of the shop. He is a super friendly and fair guy who never tries to oversell you on what you need. He lets you know what he recommends, gives you a time estimate, and if you don't want it, that's that. I got my SUV brakes fixed for $300, which is far better than what I've paid for at Toyota! Also, the place is a little difficult to find, but it's right next to Wendy's so just look for that. read more

Once again, Wildcat Automotive to the rescue! My fiancé and I live in Houston, but frequently visit the Lake Highlands area to visit old friends and family. Two years ago we were visiting friends on a Saturday afternoon and when we went to leave at 5pm, our car would not start. We jumped it and instantly called Wildcat since other shops near us were already closed. We called Wildcat and they told us they'd stay open in time for us to bring it in. We would have had to wait until Monday to get in a shop, and we had to be back to Houston on Sunday! The team at Wildcat really saved us. The second instance was today, a Friday. We started our car this afternoon and had a check engine light on the dash. Without batting an eye, we drive down the street to Wildcat to have them check the code. They quickly hooked up to the truck and told us that our car had a low voltage signal. (Turns out someone didn't completely close a door earlier!) Scott cleared the code and sent us on our way as the alternator would fix the low battery. Other shops would make us wait and pay $100 just to check the code!! Thanks guys! read more

This is my first yelp review and wanted to share the experience I had with this awesome shop. I am leaving on a road trip with my children today and my airbag sensor turned on. This place was great, super friendly and very fast. I went in on a Saturday morning, around 8:45am, and got an oil change ($40). I was out of there at 9:15am, thats right, only a half an hour. Not only wat the service quick but they said that they checked all of my levels on fluids and toped them off for me, for free. They did a 27 point inspection on my vehicle and said everything looked good. Thats a great thing to hear at a shop, seeing as most places will try and get you to fix something else. This place blows my mind. I have an 85 Land Cruiser that had belt issues. I had AAA tow the car to them just at closing time, and they waited until it arrived. Two days later, just as they were about to close, I get a call that the car is fixed, and Scott allowed me to pay over the phone. I have used Jeff's Wildcat Automotive three times for repairs on my 2001 Chevrolet Suburban which I refuse to trade in for a newer model. The first time my starter needed replacing. Interestingly, another nearby repair shop at Northwest highway, had "replaced" it about a year before. It didn't last 20,000 miles. No warranty, they said. Wildcat replaced it with a GMC starter that ius guaranteed for life. The second time, after 5 yearsw my Interstate battery decided to be on its last leg. They stopped what they were doing and replaced it for me. And then late yesterday afternoon, my water pump began to leak. I left the Suburban there, they drove me home, and the repairs were completed by 11:00 this morning.. Jeff tells me that he has been an auto mechanic since he was 16....it's all he knows, he says. What a jerk. I went in there for a standard brake job and they broke the calipers on one rear tire. After refusing to admit he did anything wrong--like they would have magically broken in the 2 days I had the car back--I had to buy a new caliper and his 'favor' was installing it for me.
