I've been taking my car here since I started driving! The owner, Bill, and all of the management team is so kind and helpful. They do honest, thorough work. Another commenter said their car was finished late--maybe once or twice in my entire history of going there has my car been "late" for pickup. But I'd much rather have it be a day late and done thoroughly than pick it up early with a crappy job... Northaven Auto takes their time with every fix they've ever done for me. I took my vehicle in for a routine tune-up, and while it was there, somehow it got a flat tire and used up a quarter tank of gas. One person said it "fell off the lift" but other employees denied that and said "flat tires just happen." Staff members were extremely defensive when I questioned what happened with the tire and the drop in gas. I had to call multiple times to find out when the car would be ready. I had been there a couple of times before but I definitely do not trust them now. read more

Granted the inspection doesn't take long to begin with but they had me on my way after a very short wait. The shop came highly recommended, No appointment needed, the employee, Bill, told me. Three times I have arrived as the shop was opening and was first in line twice. Each time I've been told to "come back tomorrow or another day." No explanation why. I have. Each time they made no repair to my car. (Slight steering wobble. Funny noise from wheel.) No one there ever called to be let me know that they were not fixing my car and that it could be picked up. No explanation was given for their failures. It was time to give my poor old baby a little loving and my normal mechanic was not open over the holiday weekend. I was telling one of my neighbors my lament and he told me about Northaven automotive. He told me that they had been working on his cars for years and that he was very happy with them. I came in on a Saturday before New Year's and they readily agreed To take a look at my car. It is probably important to note that this was 30 minutes before closing time. They told me that they could not "diagnose exactly what it was that day but that on the next business day they would call me and let me know what was going on. The main problem is that my car needed a little catch-up on its maintenance and care. I asked him how quickly they would be able to do it and they told me a day to two days. On the second day I called them to get a status update and they told me that the repairs have been done but that they had not had a chance to verify that the problem has been corrected. They told me they would be most comfortable if I could give them a day to test it which I readily agreed to do. They called me the next day and confirmed that everything was working how it should be working and that I could come get my car. I have to say it was a very pleasant experience especially it being my first time to ever go to their garage and get the priority service that I got. I will definitely be returning for my next repair which is new shocked absorbers. read more

This is based on one visit....I live near the shop, had never been there. They have 3 bays for oil change and state inspections. No appointment needed, I happened to stop by when they were not busy. I pulled right in and had the basic conventional oil change. I've had my Daughters Mercedes C230 Kompressor serviced here for a variety of issues throughout the past couple of years. 1 Time?? I brought him Rear Brake-Calipers to install & he didn't...said I didn't need them. Now, ask yourself, who would be so honest as to turn down "Billable Hours"?. Not An "Attorney" that's for sure...& that is why as bad-a-reputation as Mechanic's & Attorney's have?? Bill & his Crew at Northaven Automotive are a Cut-ABOVE all the rest of the skulduggery shysters "Out there". They even caught (early, before it turned into a major fiasco) a small At-the-back-of-the-motor Coolant hose leak that would've been horrible had they not caught & fixed it?? it would have probably led to catastrophic engine failure due to over-heating (Coolant loss). I've been an avid DIY'er for all of my life but my eyesight & ability to work out in the heat are draining upon me. I've glad I know Bill & his Family shoppe & dependable Tight Crew!. I had been doing my regular tuneups with the dealer and spending between $200-$300 every time. I have been coming to you for 3 years since moving to the area. Today, I left work early to get a headlamp replaced-to ensure that I arrived with plenty of time before you closed. The man who came to assist tried to tell me that my entire headlamp would need to be pulled out and it would take over an hour. I tried telling him that my model does not require that. Having had multiple headlamps replaced in the 8 years I have owned my vehicle. I know this to be true. He refused to listen to me and told me to come back in the morning. I've been to this establishment twice. The first time I had no complaints. Great service and fair prices. The most recent visit was very lacking in customer service. I pulled up and was greeted with disgust. "What?"...I brushed this off and told the woman I was speaking to my problem with my oil light ( I had gotten an oil change recently at another establishment and ever since, my oil light has been on and off). She asked me to pop my hood and I did. She checked the oil and said everything was fine. I explained that I knew the oil level was fine but the light was on and wanted to know if she could see if something else was amiss, a leak or something. Really all I was looking for here was some effort. Im willing to pay for that at least. Her husband then approached and I tried to explain what was wrong. He looks for a second and says its the oil switch and walks off before I could respond. I waited to see if they wanted me to pull into the garage (the previous car had left). He returns and says I can leave.... Im confused. I asked if there was not an option of getting my switch fixed ( I am unconvinced that this is the problem as no real work went into checking) He then says I didn't ask for anything to be repaired, to which I replied I didn't have a chance to reply! He walked off so quickly I didn't realize that was the end of my service and I should leave. I was calm. I told him I was also wanting to see why my check engine light was on. I know this is a quick procedure. He says he can but not today. "Come back tomorrow, I am too busy" I was so confused, I replied "I am sorry, are you closed today?" He says no but that he's too busy. There is a lot full of cars, to his point, but no other customers waiting to get oil changes or any other in person service... I suspect he just didn't want my business. Which is fine. For what it is worth I will never return and would never recommend any one else going to an establishment that treats their customers in such a way. read more

My parents have used Bill for repairs, oil changes, and inspections on their old GMC cars since he opened his shop in their neighborhood many years ago, and I've been using his shop for the past few years. He has always been knowledgeable, honest, reasonably priced, and prompt. He's earned our trust. Today my 90 year old mother needed a fix on her 13 year old Buick - rear side window had dropped out of whatever holds it up. We arrived at Bill's shop late morning on a Saturday - and the place was BUSY with cars lined up. We could see that he didn't have time for us. I asked a young mechanic about the time and cost to do a halfway "fix" - put the window in a permanently up position. (The age and condition of the car doesn't warrant much of an investment.) He gave us what I thought was a fair price considering that the door had to be opened up - under $100. Could it be done today? As a favor to a long and loyal customer, Bill agreed to squeeze us in. I deposited my mother at Cindy's Deli & Pancake House across the street, and returned with the car to Bill's shop. As I handed Bill the key he quietly recommended (didn't push) a proper fix on the car he has been servicing for more than a decade. I asked about timing - he'd need parts and it was a busy Saturday. He asked me to give him 2 hours. If he couldn't get and replace the window motor within 2 hours, he'd do the half-way fix that I first suggested. (We both knew Mom didn't have enough stamina for much more than 2 hours.) I agreed, and walked over to Cindy's to wait with Mom for Bill's call. After exactly two hours the shop called ~ the car was ready. As I was walking towards the shop, Bill was pointing at the inspection sticker. It had expired and we hadn't noticed. He offered to do the inspection - it took only minutes. Like all the other times we've taken our cars to Bill . . . we have no complaints, nothing but praise. I don't know if I've ever seen Bill smile ~ he's a very soft-spoken, reserved, serious man who speaks with an accent (Vietnamese, I think). No hard sells, only hard work. He lets his actions speak for him, and in that way he is incredibly eloquent. I have no reservations about recommending him. And having Cindy's Deli within walking distance is an added bonus if you have to wait. read more

His wife was so rude and nasty, she screamed at me that maybe your car was just like that when you brought it in and she kept screaming as she walked back into her office and closed the doors behind her on me.
