Wonderful meal! I had the char-crusted ribeye steak (pepper & garlic), cooked to perfection, & roasted vegetables which included mushrooms, onions, cauliflower, zucchini, summer squash & Brussel sprouts. They are normally roasted with balsamic vinegar, but I had them use just olive oil, & they were really good! We arrived approx. 7pm on a Friday night with a party of two & were seated immediately. I went to Wildfire for my 28th anniversary. I ordered roses for my wife and had them delivered to the restaurant ahead of time. When we got to the restaurant we were seated within 5 minutes and the dozen roses were sitting on our table for my wife to see. She was very excited and surprised. The food was great and the entire service was excellent. Tim, the manager, came over to personally congratulate us on our 28th anniversary celebration. He was very nice and made us feel special. Wildfire hosted our school Christmas Party - for around 100 people. Brad led the crew in providing excellent service; the food was outstanding, the timing was perfect, and the room was just right. We were blown away! This option was more expensive than some of the other restaurants we considered, but having experienced the options, I'd choose Wildfire again. First time here! Myron was our server and he was fantastic! He refilled my ice tea every time it was low! We both had the French Onion soup and we both enjoyed it. I had the Prime Rib Dip Sandwich with roasted veggies. Came with horseradish sauce and a cup of Au Jus. It was delicious. My friend had the Filet and it was perfectly cooked...my only complaint was that roasted veggies were more like burnt veggies and what I could eat was tasty. Love this steakhouse!! Always on point. Although it specializes in steaks, I usually go with the fish special - right now they are featuring Alaskan cod with a Parmesan crust - delicious. Took my daughter here in honor of her 21st birthday. Food was good (not great), service was excellent, prices were high. Crowd was surprisingly heavy for a Tuesday evening. Drink menu and food menu both offer many choices. Daughter's steak was cooked more than she requested, but she decided to just keep it. I would have sent it back. I had the seafood platter, which was okay, but for $32.95 portions were very small. Baked French Onion soup was excellent. I'd return on another special occasion if my dining companions wanted to go, but wouldn't eat here on a regular basis. I don't mind pricey restaurants, but expect amazing food and didn't find it here. read more

Wildfire is the go-to place for nice lunches for the IL branch of my company, and while I was visiting we came in a group of about 20 people. By the time I arrived there were already bread baskets sitting on the table, which is always a very good sign. The bread baskets included onion rolls, rye, and other varieties as well as tins of whipped, creamy butter. Next, we shared numerous appetizers, including the spinach and artichoke dip, pretzels, and fried calamari. I especially enjoyed the pretzels because they were soft, warm, not too salty, and unlike the others not an extremely common appetizer for a traditional American restaurant. I would knock off one star only for my entree, the coconut shrimp with broccoli. The veggie side sounded from the menu like it came with a yummy sauce, but it turned out to be literally just boiled broccoli. The shrimp were large, adequately breaded in coconut, and complemented well by the accompanying white sauce, but the arrangement of eight or so shrimp spaced out alone on a plate looked sad and overall my meal wasn't filling. However, the burgers, steaks, and sandwiches of those around me looked rich and substantial. I knew I might've been going out on a limb with a more exotic dish and verified my hunch; go with standard American fare and I think you'll be satisfied. read more

Ordered the NY Strip. Sent back because the food was cold. I explained that since I ordered it med rare, I request a new steak, because if you stick the original on the grill, it would no longer be med rare. 15 min later they bring out the same piece and sure enough it's over cooked. The waitress took it back again. (Still no apologies) 20 min later they bring me a new one. At this time everyone else at the table was finished w their dinner and ready for desert. So you would assume after a bad experience like this, they would offer some kind of compensation or even an apology..........nope.....neither. Wtf!!! read more

Food is fantastic. I recommend the coconut shrimp a wonderful addition to your order for the evening. The bacon wrapped filet with horseradish dressing is incredible. Had dinner there last night. Please was a mad house because of New Years Eve. Arrived early, always a good idea, and had a couple drinks in the bar while waiting for friends. Bar was packed, but that was to be expected, and we got out drinks without issue. Our waiter was outstanding and constantly checked to see if our needs were being satisfied. We all had the NY Strip, which is one of the best steaks you will find anywhere in Chicago. The salads are huge, so we all split a chopped salad which was fresh and very tasty. The nice thing about this place is that they cater to all your needs without the attitude that some other restaurants give you. I would have given it another star but the place is usually loud and was excessively loud last night. I blame that more on it being New Years Eve than it being the restaurant. read more

I went to Wildfire for lunch on 7-9-14. I ordered the halibut for $24.95. I received a dry piece of fish which didn't taste like fish, because it was so old. I sent it back. I had to wait another 20 minutes for another piece of fish. The waiter told me the chef said it was dried out. read more

We continuously have bad experiences ordering take-out at this Wildfire location. We have spent many evenings eating at the restaurant and ordering take-out and will no longer eat at this location. The staff was rude on the phone and would not direct me to a manager when I asked. They gave me a pick-up time of 90 minutes for a salad. We will be taking our business to restaurants that do not treat us like idiots on the phone. I am not the usual type to write poor reviews but we have spent way to much of our hard earned money at this location to be treated like we are bothering the staff by ordering take-out. read more

Thanks to my foodie friend, my fiance and I visited here for the first time. I couldn't pass up an invitation for an afternoon of food, friends, and conversation. When I got there, the dark, rich wooden decor set the tone for the restaurant-old school steakhouse. Since the party was big enough, we were seated in the wine room. It's a small room that seats twelve in a knights of a roundtable setup. Our hostess selected the club menu which serves the meal family style with a couple choices of appetizers, entrees, and sides. For appetizers, we had spinach and artichoke fondue and chopped salad. Both apps were excellent. The spinach and artichoke remained warm with little burners and the crostini was light and crusty. The chopped salad was incredible and I definitely wanted more of it. For entrees, we had roasted chicken and beef tenderloin. I only had the chicken which was perfectly moist and delicious. The beef looked delicious. For sides, we had broccoli and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were tasty. However, the broccoli's where they lost stars because it was horrible undercooked. One of the lunchgoers commented on being surprised by using a steak knife for broccoli. Our service was pretty even and attentive since we were a guaranteed good tip with our party size. She lost the review a star by not calculating the bill out correctly twice. It made her seem shady instead of attentive. My family and I have been going to Wildfire restaurants since their original opening and used to love the ambiance, service, and food. Though the last three times, I have visited this facility, the attention to detail, the food quality, and the service has declined substantially. In fact, it would appear the emphasis is on cramming people in and not on serving quality food and an ultimate dining experience. Much of the last visit was one mishap after another. Poor waiter to table time, poor support bus staff support, poor manager decorum, and under cooked and overcooked food. The total time to visit and have a dining experience was 2.5 hours and that includes being sat at time of entry. The table we sat at was placed by a section where waiters come through with large trays and most of the meal, I had to look over my shoulder fearing one would drop a platter on my head. The food quality of the chopped salad as mediocre including wilted lettuce and stale taste. The gluten free menu item I ordered, pasta vegetables red sauce was luke warm and just blah! My wife had to send her filet back twice. And the manager attempted to make it right and did provide a courtesy meal for this dinner. Though, a bigger problem resides here. This restaurant needs to seat 20-25% less people, take some tables out of the dining area and give diners a better experience. I would recommend they address some substantial issues within the facility or I can see an eventual collapse of this facility. As more diners want to visit restarurants where they don't feel like cattle eating cattle! Moreover, they need to provide healthier fare on their menu and far more plant based foods. My wife and I agreed we are done with Wildfire and she has told me, remind me if I am thinking about going there again to NOT GO! MY ADVICE IS CALL AHEAD AND SEE HOW BUSY THEY WILL BE? IF BUSY, STAY CLEAR! IF HALF FULL, WELL MAYBE THEY CAN PULL IT TOGETHER. The wait staff etc just seems to be crawling over one another and the same is true for the grill/kitchen. read more

Enjoyed a lovely dinner here for my sister's birthday a few nights ago. Our waitress, though quiet and a little distant was overall very nice. She was very patient with our group of 5 and answered all our questions about the menu. My husband and I shared the French Onion Soup which is absolutely to die for. Unlike most French onion soups, it is not overly salty which I appreciated. I would have it again for sure. For dinner I had the trio of medallions, one horseradish, one bleu cheese, and one parmesan with a side of mashed potatoes. I really liked the bleu cheese topping the best, the parmesan wasn't flavorful enough and the horseradish was a little much for me, but I'm glad I tried both! I'd be interested in the mushroom topping they have for the steak! My side of mashed potatoes was good but lacked flavor. Some garlic would really make them even better! My husband had The Avalon, which is a sampling of several different sea foods at Wildfire, and wow was he impressed! He said he'd absolutely order it again, and his favorite thing in the sampler was the cedar plank salmon. I tried it too and it was quite good, and I'm not a fish person! His side of creamed spinach was excellent too. I wish we had saved room for dessert, that dessert platter looked incredible! Overall, I loved the place. Good food, good atmosphere, and a good place to go on a date or for a celebration. I would like to come back, perhaps on a nice summer day and sit outside! read more

Sorry, I would rather be raving about this establishment. Not what it had been. Halibit was overcooked for both of us. We don't come as often due to the food being more average and for the money, not the quality we had in the past. In all honesty, it seems there are shortcuts. Almost as if the food got Sysco's magic touch of precooked frozen in transport - not like fresh at all. Shame, we had liked this place and liked going there every few months and it's nearby. Now, it's the disappointment for the last three visits. Needs to be decorporatized so people that actually care more about quality than a buck. Service is cog in a wheel with more effeciency (which was good) but lacked warmth and charm. read more

I don't remember not liking this place, but I can't say much for my most recent experience. I had a rib-eye and it had absolutely no flavor. The fries were simply atrocious. How hard is it for a restaurant to make good fries, honestly? The wine list was very unoriginal, dare I say with a real corporate feel, with mostly California selections. (Let me just say that there is a bigger world of wine than just California and some token selections from France, Italy, Chile, and Australia.) I had the cheaper pinot noir (from France), which was innocuous enough. The dessert was okay, not spectacular. Look, if dinner for two is going to cost $90 after tax and tip, it better be good. They better make an effort with the wine list, and they better make fries that knock my socks off. If they can't beat fast food fries, they shouldn't make them at all. The value just isn't at this place. I have had plenty of good meals at Lettuce Entertain You restaurants, but I can't endorse this one. Whatever you want on that menu, there is another place out there that makes it better, and at a cheaper price. read more

I have been here many times in the last three years and each time it seems to get worse. The service this last time was horrendous. First our waitress never gave us fresh ground pepper even though she offered it. Second the steak medallions were undercooked they were rare instead of medium-rare. Third when the medallions were brought back they were medium well. For the price of about $40 dollars a person I think you should get better service and have your steak cooked correctly. Went here for the first time to celebrate an anniversary, and words cannot describe how amazing the experience was. We were seated immediately upon entering the restaurant, and treated as royalty throughout the entire service. Our server Steve was phenomenal. He was very witty and energetic, and by far the best waiter I have ever encountered. The food was exquisite, especially the beef wellington special. The food was served in a timely manner and we did not have to wait a long time in between meals. The dessert menu is indescribable. With a large variety of mouth watery desserts, this place knew how to wrap up a great dinner. I specifically created this yelp account to recommend this place to others.
