My husband and I usually come here for a cocktail before or after dinner. Johnny's Kitchen and Tap is a fantastic spot for cocktails, beer or wine. We love to sit at the bar during Happy Hour. The bartenders are always very attentive, friendly, and make great drinks. I have tried the Dirty Martini and a Manhattan and both have been great. We have also tried the Filet sliders, and they were juicy, tender and delish! At some point we will come for a meal, and I'll upgrade my review. :-) Give this place a try for a cozy atmosphere at the bar!

Tonight, we went there for a St Valentine's Day dinner. I had a Reuben sandwich and my lady friend had shrimp and fries. The food was very good, the service was fast and the atmosphere in the dining was quiet and cozy. The meal was good but sadly we found out that they will be closing at the end of May 2026 and converting the place into a different type of restaurant/bar. A Five Stars rating goes to this restaurant that's been in business for 30 years.

Beware! Most pictures are professional taken probably from previous owner food didn't look like pictures. It was higher food prices for mediocre meal. No daily/weekly discount menu or senior discounts here. Service was good. Ambiance was clean. Had turkey club was good but small amounts of meat on sandwich new owners so not the same

June 19, 2026 - The worst service I have ever experienced in any restaurant. I specifically asked the server questions about the food and the pricing. When I pointed out that on the website, it stated one price, they would not honor that price and called the general manager over, Mary, and she stated they weren't following that pricing. I stated, you should honor it because it was online, but she wouldn't. Not only did the server make multiple mistakes, the kitchen forgot to put two items on my rotisserie chicken sandwich, and the manager also did not know that there was anything missing from the sandwich. It took over half an hour to get a glass of lemonade. In the end, I was charged double for a soup that was supposed to be included with an up charge of five dollars, but I was charged 12. I was really looking forward to the grand opening and seeing all the new changes both indoors and on the menu. The inside looks wonderful, but their customer service and food was the worst that I have experienced. I was very disappointed and likely will not be going back anytime soon.

We passed this on our way to run an evening errand and after looking at the menu, we gave it a try. We went in and it's an old bar/restaurant from the 70s or 80s that has its classic charm, but great food. You can smell the meats being smoked as soon as you walk in this dimly lit restaurant. We ordered a skirt steak dinner and it came with a salad. We both upped for the Greek side salad, and that was a large and hearty portion for a beginning salad. The dressing was delicious and was perfect for the pile of fresh veggies and feta cheese. I ordered my steak and was able to choose the starch, so I chose rice. It was about 8 oz and felt much bigger. It was tender and juicy as well. I asked for it Greek Style and only wished it had a tad more lemon, but all places are different. I have no complaints about it. My husband ordered the Veal Liver and it was also a large portion. It came with bacon and onions, mashed, and veggies. He loved his liver and loved the way it was prepared. We found out they smoke and grill all their meats, and we could tell because you could smell it throughout the restaurant. The service was very good. You're able to tell the staff has been there for many years. Our service was also very good. The server made his recommendations and was very friendly. This is a great old school, Greek owned restaurant with hearty portions and delicious food. I'll be glad to come back.

My mother lives in an independent living facility in Northbrook. She says that if her friends go out, this is where they always go. So, today (a Saturday), we had an early dinner with her at Johnny's Kitchen & Tap. The first thing you notice when you walk in is very dark. You'll see that in my pictures. At 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon, it was almost empty - 2 other tables were in use and a few people at the bar. The waiter seated us at a large, comfortable booth. I did mention it is dark in the room. Much of the lighting was blocked by the high backs on the seats. So there was even less light at our table. Thanks to cell phone makers for putting flashlights on phones. We could see the menu! Shortly, we all decided what we wanted - London Broil, Chicken Bruchetta, and I ordered three oysters and the two pork chop dinner. All of our dinners came with salads, and they had the most wonderfully warm and crusty bread on the table. The salads were all good - the same salads with ranch, vinaigrette, and one with Greek dressing. They all came with sides. With the London Broil, there were green beans with carrots and mashed potatoes. With the Chicken Bruchetta, wild rice. With the pork chops, green beans and carrots, and a baked potato. The salads were all good - the same salads with rT The oysters were fair. They served the oysters with Tabasco, cocktail sauce, and sliced lemon. But they had a decent flavor but not the best. I chose them since they were on a special for $1.50 each. The meals: The bruschetta looked great. Chunks of chicken with vegetables layered on a skewer sitting on top of wild rice; the London broil also looked excellent. It was centered on the plate, with mashed potatoes filling one side and vegetables filling the other end. And, the pork came as two huge chops with a large baked potato on one end and the vegetables on the other. I can say the same thing about all of the meats - they were delicious, albeit a bit dry. The pork chops had a wonderful spicy flavor with lemon and were cooked on a wood grill. The same could be said for the London broil and the skewers. All were dry in texture, but the flavors more than made up for it. During COVID, we mainly cooked or ordered delivery. We have rarely gone to restaurants. As we ate and time went by, more people came in. It was so lovely seeing people for a change.

The service was great they were checking on us and following up on everything and very attentive. Now let's go to the food my sister recommended the shank I opted for the pork tank I think they also have a lamp one but the pork one was really good and super tender you don't even need a knife for it you just cut it with your fork or spoon in the meat comes off the bones right away. The pasta we ordered was also good came with the sausage it was the sausage rigatoni with sausage. My sister recommended the crispy brussel sprouts she said it was really good but we opted to go for the octopus I feel like the octopus was over seasoned a bit but it was cooked perfectly really tender. Will definitely be coming back to this place to try more stuff on their menu. Happy eating!

We had made a reservation a month in advance to try a new restaurant on Father's Day. However, as…read morethe day approached, the weather forecast consistently called for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and possible flash flooding. We decided it was not a good idea to drive to an unfamiliar area in inclement weather and canceled the reservation on Friday night. We were fortunate that Social Inn is close by and is a great restaurant for celebratory dining. Best of all, they still had reservation available. As it turned out, it was just light rain the entire evening on Father's Day, but we didn't regret the change at all. Although the restaurant was not filled to capacity, it was bustling with many families celebrating Father's Day, creating a festive vibe. It's the first time that we met the owner, Daniella, who's so warm and welcoming. She invited us to choose from available tables in three different dining areas. We selected the table right by the lounge that had a large TV, homey décor, couch and cocktail table. It was also right by the big window overlooking the small and charming front patio. Our server, Chis, was very friendly, pleasant, and attentive. I ordered a Lemonade ($3), my husband and daughter each enjoyed a glass of Mer Soliel Reserve Chardonnay (2 for $26). We shared a Grilled Octopus ($22) which was cooked to perfection. The warm, lightly charred pita points paired well with the creamy and tasty beet hummus. I had a Slow Roasted Lamb Shank ($39) which was tender and full of flavors. It was a very generous portion that I shared a big piece with my husband; and still had leftovers to take home. It made a delicious lamb sandwich for my next lunch. My husband liked his Spiked White Fish ($29) so much last time that he ordered it again. Our daughter enjoyed her order of Rigatoni Sausage ($23), another generously portioned dish that she couldn't quite finish. By the end of the meal, we were too full for individual desserts, so we shared a Crème Brûlée ($8), which was the perfect sweet ending. All in all, it was a wonderful dinner. With consistent delicious dishes, warm hospitality, comfortable seating, and a convenient location, we will definitely be back again.

WOW! To make a long story short, we got seated, our drinks, and orders taken, and after 15 minutes, our food was hot and piping and fresh. And it was tasty - my steak quesadillas and my mom got a house Cobb salad. Both were tasty and looked great. Our server Miriam was awesome with our orders, she came by to check on us and not too many times, and was there to help us with leftovers and leaving stuff. She struck a nice balance of not being there vs being here too often, so that's Ace's in my book. Since it was Mother's Day, it's crowded and a bit loud but not too loud where it was too obnoxious, except for a few people who had no manners at all on dress, but that's another topic I won't go to, for now. Tables, plates and silverware were clean, and one can still get around, even with one table behind us with a handicapped person, it didn't crowd up much at all - it was all very reasonably spacious. Definitely will come back here, though I do miss that older lady who was our server the last time before today, who was very nice - had a bit of an attitude to her personality but not too much to make it tasteless, some sass makes for an interesting day. (Hope you are doing well, ma'am!)

The restaurant is decorated very nicely, they put a lot of thought in colors and decor. Our waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable, I appreciated her input. I ordered coffee and my cup was never left empty. They have a really sweet man who comes around and tops off your coffee cups. They have specials and a kids menu too. The bathroom latches are way too high for a child to lock the door, but they do have a fold down changing table in the woman's restroom. (Not in the stall) They do have high chairs for toddlers. I actually need a chair to rest my leg on because I cannot bend my right knee. Our waitress was very nice about it... however a man came up to me and told me it was a fire hazard to have a chair in the aisle... so what about the kids high chairs? The chair was completely pushed under the table... so I had no choice but to put my foot up on the other side of the booth (which I was avoiding). Also the booth cushion is not attached so when you lean on it it comes up... making it very hard for a handicapped person like me to get in and out of a booth. other than that our experience was enjoyable. My husband ordered the corned beef hash breakfast. It came with Corned beef Hash, 2 eggs (he ordered his scrambled) diced potatoes or hashed browns (he picked diced potatoes) and toast or pancakes. That is a lot of food for him, so I am going to eat his pancakes. I also ordered two eggs over easy off the sides menu. The portion sizes are large.
