We love Wildflyer! We have been coming here for the last 6 years!…read more It all started with Covid, an outdoor space to get out of the house and yummy mead! The owners are awesome and friendly. We are so happy that they are doing well and even opened a new downtown location. But of course the farm location is like home to us. Oh yes, the mead! Always fun to try the different flavors. So many favorites! We enjoy Marooned, Viva Sangria, Violet Beauregard, Hot & Bothered and it is always a treat to try the new reserves. Head on out and enjoy the working honey farm and stay for the mead! There are options to stay the night for the out of towners. The Honey House and Cabin as well as camping spots.

They have tables outside and a great screened in sunroom that was very popular. My hubby and I ordered a Mead flight to sample 4 different meads. We enjoyed them all but we ended up buying Seventeen. It is made with strawberry and lime. One strange thing happened though. When went to pay for our flight ($12) and bought our bottle of mead - the girl put the bottle has her tip. (See photo) Our credit card company sent us a message asking if we intended on giving a 200% tip. This left me speechless. I would come here again but definitely look at my receipt before leaving.

So i walked up to the bar and again was never acknowledged..... I know i was seen but ignored. I think he was more focused on the people that were at the bar. Or he just didn't want to be there. He worked slow and moved like he was in no rush. Not what you should see at a this kind of establishment. Went back and sat down for another 5 mins and after 15mins with nobody giving any care that we were there. We got up and left. The establishment was beautiful and seemed like a awesome place to have a drink. But that didn't happen. Can't recommend this place

They also have a nice selection of board games to play while you're hanging out there. The bartender/server briefly went down the menu and explained that the mead was made from honey, hence the bee motifs. After tasting several different kinds (from the flight), I settled on hibiscus as my favorite. There is a varying range of sweetness, and the hibiscus was definitely on the sweeter side, but I was in the sweet mood. I also really enjoyed resting beach face, which is a lot less sweet but has all the fruity notes. If you've never tried mead, it's worth heading on over here and giving the Ferm Meadery a try!

However, I've lived in this area a long time and had no idea about the place until I visited Galveston Brewery recently and the server there mentioned Celtic Cross mead. Honestly it is not all that difficult to locate and once you see it, you see it and think "Oh! There it is!" It's cozy, homey, and welcoming. I'm glad I read Yelp reviews and such to learn this place was a little difficult to find but totally worth the effort. They were correct. But find it we did. Brandi and a couple at the bar welcomed us in. Brandi guided us through the various flavors of mead so we could decide what we liked. What a fantastic range of flavors and I feel I now know a lot more about mead. I tried their 4 serving flight of my favs. My son tried a class of each of his favorites. Their non-alcoholic mead was so refreshing that I would like an entire glass of that next time. I feel there is a flavor for everyone's taste and would be surprised if one could not find their favorite. The only way not to find your fav is the inability to chose from their selections. The only other mead I have ever tasted was at Bunratty castle in Ireland back in the day. Celtic Cross' mead is so much better. This place was fun and we cannot wait to come back.

Everyone owners/patrons immediately welcomes you and makes you feel right at home. There is a a sense of community. We've had dinner elsewhere and gone after for a few drinks and boardgames. Sometimes there is a food truck. You can also bring food to the establishment. They are not a large production so each of their meads is carefully crafted. You did not be disappointed!
