I haven't been here for years, mainly because it was always so busy and I didn't want to wait for a table. Today we tried to book a table on line and it implied that they were full. We didn't think that was likely on a Tuesday so we phoned and they said come on down. When we arrived the restaurant was mostly empty. Very strange. Service was fast and pleasant. The sound or noise was well under control. I ordered a sandwich for $19.00. It came with soup. The soup was absolutely delicious. The sandwich was good but lacked the wow factor. This was our first time getting brunch here, and I didn't realize that this place was pretty much attached to Made by Marcus! So I've been inside (on the Made by Marcus side) but didn't realize that there were tables in the back for Wilfred's. I really like how they combined that space for both establishments, that was pretty smart. We met with friends and slid into one of the comfy booths in the back. I really liked the colors and style of Wilfred's seating area. It felt cozy, homey, it had such an overall cool vibe. I got an Iced Matcha Lavender Latte with oat milk. It was delicious, perfectly sweet from the lavender syrup and the oat milk was creamy. Matcha was earthy and the drink's components complemented each other very well. I absolutely loved my drink. My boyfriend got the Chicken and Waffles (with a side salad) and I ordered the Hot Chicken Sandwich which came with a side of fries. I liked my chicken sandwich, I chose mild because I wanted to experience all the flavors incorporated in the dish. Chicken was good, pickles were the cherry on top for me (though I wish they added a little bit more), but for me the stars of the show were the sauces. The Thai Basil Mayo and the Hot Honey Glaze complemented the chicken so well. It was creamy, mayo was light, and the hot honey gave that hint of sweetness and spice. For the Chicken and Waffles, the chicken was good but the waffles were okay. My boyfriend was left disappointed by it. We expected crispy outside and light and fluffy interior, but it was dense throughout the whole waffle. He said it tasted like it was an old reheated waffle. I liked the Hot Chicken Sandwich but I don't think I'd pay $20 for it. It was good, but I'm not sure if it's $20 good. But the service was great. Our server was attentive, friendly, and was also willing to remake a drink if it wasn't what we expected. She was very sweet. A great spot for brunch! I joined a few friends here last month. The prices are a bit high but I found the quality of the food and portion size to be excellent. I had salmon toast and was impressed with the amount of smoke salmon on the thick, crunchy bread. Also, the side of potatoes is among the best I have had. My only caution is if you come during the height of brunch service can be a bit slow, but it's friendly and a nice place to wait. Also, they have Made By Marcus ice cream in there too, and if you get ice cream after having a meal you get a slight discount. read more

I did like that you can change your fries to any of their salads with no charge. My husband went with the Royale burger with fries. There was some fun beer and cocktails, but we couldn't resist the Made by Markus milkshakes. We both went with Strawberry. Food took awhile to come out considering no one was there. Food was good. I really liked my Maine Lobster roll. Tasted fresh. Decent amount of lobster love the yuzu mayo. Hickory sticks added a nice crunch. Kale Chickpea salad was fresh, tasty and a good portion. Husband enjoyed his burger. It was filling. Fries were good. However the best thing? The milkshakes. I really want to love Wilfred's. It checks so many boxes for me - great food, great ambiance, but service has been inconsistent. Let's start with the good - they have a fairly small menu but it has lots of vegetarian options. I'm a big fan of the grilled cheese toasties and the patatas bravas they also make a great brunch. Right now they are hosting a "Sippin Santa" popup with a bunch of Christmas-themed tiki drinks. All of the ones I tried were excellent. You even have the option to purchase a souvenir mug. The space itself is always cute and cozy but it was even more so with the Christmas decor lining the walls and bar. The less good? During my last visit, it was slow to the point where we wanted to order another round of drinks but based on how the night had gone so far, knew it would take way longer than we were willing to wait to get them. There was also a miscommunication between what I was told about the menu when booking and what we were told when there in person but I've since been in touch with them and they've made everything right. Here's my synopsis: 1) Brekkie bowl with Salmon -$18 - it was something different with the kale salad essentially. I would've liked maybe a creamier sauce and pickled onions instead. The salmon was the equivalent of frozen sliced salmon from Costco, so wasn't impressed with that addition. The smashed potatos were good, but they should consider making some house made aioli or something for some extra flavor. The table salt and pepper weren't enough to bring flavor. This was my first visit to Wilfred's diner and my first impression was a really good one - I will be back! I had the blueberry and lemon curd French Toast and it was TO DIE for! My friend had their class eggs dish and it was hardy and well cooked, great little roasted potatoes that looked like little squished Pac Mans LOL. We both had the warm spiced latte - yummy! **Shout out to Daniel at Wilfred's for the excellent service. I had not heard of Wilfred's before, but my friend suggested it for a joint bday dinner. What a hidden gem! I didn't even know it existed, and if you weren't actively seeking it, you may not even notice it driving by. It's super charming, and they share their space with an ice cream shop called Made by Marcus. The slogan I caught on their social media is "good food, good people".... Definitely experienced both! The food was fresh, hot, flavourful. I had the hot chicken sandwich and it was DELICIOUS. I will be back for that alone. Finished it off with a churro ice cream sandwich which was equally amazing. I also enjoyed a couple of glasses of natural wine- they rotate the menu regularly, and consisted of female lead wineries in honour of International Women's Day. Daniel was our server and he is such a delightful human. Very kind, sociable, and made it feel like you were being served by a good buddy of yours. So, I think their hiring practices live up to the slogan. This is easily my new favourite spot in the Brewery District. It's adorable, relaxed, and quality. I didn't know anything about this place and accidentally came across it on social media and am so glad I did. The atmosphere was awesome, kind of a new age diner, very clean and bright. They have a small kids menu, my boy (3 yo) had the grilled cheese and fries and loved it. I had the Wilfred's Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich ($18) with onion rings ($2 up charge from fries or salad), It was delicious, SLOPPY (ask for extra napkins) but delicious! They will ask if you want it mild or spicy, I got it spicy and it really wasn't that hot at all. It looks like they have a nice selection of adult beverages including 3 taps that support 3 different local breweries. FINALLY got to Wilfred's after wanting to try it out ever since before the pandemic. Gorgeous sunny day, all the doors were open, and it gave off this incredibly friendly vibe. The deck was hopping, so I sat inside. They share the space with Made By Marcus, so the entry situation was a little strange when I first walked in, but I figured it out. Even though it was afternoon, I was craving Hollandaise, so tried out their Eggs Benny with the addition of Mortadella ham and a London Fog. Ohhh Emmm Geee... y'all, I could drink that dill Hollandaise. Seriously. It was that delicious. The eggs were perfectly poached, the accompanying potatoes were crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. I had requested sugar for my London Fog, but didn't need it, as they pre-sweeten. It was perfect as is. I had to wait a little while for my food, and unexpectedly, my server took the cost of the London Fog off the bill, which was super appreciated. Went here to eat brunch one weekend. It was quite busy inside but we were seated fairly quickly at the bar without a reservation. The inside is very modern and has a cute aesthetic feel to it. I ordered the Matcha Sunrise for my drink. It mixed orange juice with matcha together. It was a drink that looked pretty for pictures. Taste wise it was not bad. If you don't mix the drink, the matcha flavor is very strong at the beginning. The drink is a bit pricey for $6. I also ordered the avocado toast because it seemed like a popular item people order. The presentation was simplistic and healthy. However the toast was hard as rock. It was difficult to bite into and cut up. Perhaps it's a personal preference on bread type but I don't remember rye bread being so hard to bite into. It made the dish less enjoyable and the avocado was seasoned too salty for my taste. My boyfriend's ordered their brunch special which was the Icelandic Char Eggs Benedict. I tasted a bit of it and it was delicious! The char was cooked to perfection and the hollandaise sauce was heavenly with it. This dish redeemed my experience here. I may come back in the future but it is not high on my priority. The staff was super friendly and it was a neat idea that the restaurant was joined with Made by Marcus icecream parlour. I wish this was indicated a little better with seating. When we arrived the server was on the back side of the L shaped table seating so we were unsure where to sit. The back and left side of the restaurant is for Wilfred's. I went here a month ago and I've been meaning to write a review - the space was beautifully designed with an adorable french mural. The space has a colour pallet of soft greens and pinks, mixed with black fixtures and warm woods. Very charming. I kept my lunch simple with the roasted tomato soup and the avocado toast. Food and service were good, but my meal was also pretty basic. They gave a cute postcard at the end with the bill which I thought was a nice touch - not sure if people would actually use them though so it could become a waste of paper. A notice to the general audience, if you like torturing yourself and burning money. Order this. The taste was incredibly bland and the texture of the pasta tasted like it was from the sale aisle of Bulk Barn. I'm pretty sure I could walk over to Loblaws City Market and get a Tv-dinner pasta for a fraction of the price. This is the problem with the "newer" generation. Stunning decor with the cutest hand painted mural. It also looks like they will have a lovely patio. I had a breakfast sandwich (ordered to go) that was tasty, and I appreciated the generous portion of delicious eggs. However $10 for nothing but a breakfast sandwich is a bit too high... customers may not return because of this. In addition to what you'll find in their menu, I was happy to see they serve Chocorrant croissants, and Ace coffee. I love that they are open at 8am on weekdays. It's virtually impossible to grab a decent breakfast to go in the area, so this is a nice option. While the prices are definitely steep, I'm sure this place will do well. I am really in love with it, and look forward to seeing if they adjust the prices to be a bit more reasonable. read more

Really cool new place, this just opened on Wednesday. It's got a really awesome feel to it very light and airy. It's got awesome breakfast stuff in there like a coffee bar in the mornings... Really cool menu for breakfast as well check out the website. The guy who was formally at woodwork, and also at holy roller, James, is the head bartender here & the cocktails are fabulous. The happy hour prices are a little high but you're getting very high-end cocktails and mixed drinks. We tried chilli shrimp in the cauliflower soup, and they were both great... Welcome to the neighborhood, Wilfreds. The latest edition to the Brewery District is a stand-alone restaurant situated in front of Loblaws City Market. It's a trendy diner, a cozy cafe, whatever you want it to be. The decor is love at first sight. I'll let the photos speak for itself since I don't know much about decor talk. Service and atmosphere are on par, as well. Let's talk about the most important thing now... food. The menu-like newspaper is split into different sections: breakfast, coffee, lunch & dinner, and drinks. It seems like the main focus of their breakfast are soft scrambled sammies, which I'd like to come back to try. I came here for dinner, which features simple dishes such as grilled cheese, baked pasta, and fried chicken & prosciutto cutlet. I decided to try their Wilfred Burger since I was feeling super hungry that evening. Featuring a 9 oz beef patty, BLT, and onions, I added on an egg for an extra $3. Normally I don't like spending more than $10 for a burger but this was worth. every. bite. The patty had some pink in the middle which was "rare" to see here. It was cooked perfectly and although it was composed of simple toppings, everything came together. The egg was an egg-cellent addition, too! Fries and a mayo-like sauce accompanied the burger. The fries tasted fresh and crispy, and I really liked how they served a creamy sauce with it instead of ketchup. They gave us cute postcards at the end as a goodbye present! I know that I cannot base my overall food experience off of a burger so I will be hopping back soon to try more of their menu. read more

Visited here for the first time tonight. It's in a really great spot, I loved the inside, decor, set up, art work was all really great and laid out nicely. Didn't have to wait at all for a seat up at the bar and the place was bustling with people. The waiter was really nice, brought us our drinks, and took our order. After staring at the menu for awhile the food seemed ok, it all seemed very basic and a bit over priced, I'd say that's what led me to give three stars I wish the menu was a bit better. Me and friend ordered the salmon dish with capers, cucumbers and toast and the avocado toast. I'll definitely be back as I'd like to try their breakfast menu. I only stopped by for a quick bite here I believe during their first or second weekend and I was not expecting the place to be so packed! Wilfred's has a very cool atmosphere and everything from the paintings on the wall to the menu is charming. What wasn't so charming was the service, but you could probably attribute that to them being completely packed and still new. So me and my friend tried the cappuccino, matcha latte and the smoked salmon plate and it was just ok. The drinks were fine, but the smoked salmon plate was disappointing, I don't even think I took a picture of it which is rare. This place has the potential to be a fantastic addition to Oliver because they only need to work on their service and menu a little bit to go from meh to woohoo! read more

I highly suggest ordering something from their coffee bar. There was a coconut infused hot drink that looked delicious. The burger and fries are very salty. The risotto has a lot of veggies and taste rich and creamy. The barley can be less cooked so as to be much more chewy. Very curious about the brunch menu, so will come back and have a try. The staff there are very friendly, and kindly suggested that reservation for brunch would be a smart idea. This is one of my absolute favorite spots for a weekday lunch, and is absolutely on my list to try for dinner or weekend brunch. The inside is beautiful with lovely, clean and mid-century/retro-like decor. We have never had a problem getting seated. The staff are really wonderful - they really stand out with their service. There is always a delicious lunch special. For lunch there you can buy a smaller sized glass of wine as an option. I always see them advertising amazing cocktails and happy hour specials which I will definitely be trying soon! I came here a few weeks ago for lunch around 12pm and as expected, it was busy. The first thing I noticed was how aesthetically pleasing the interior of the restaurant was. It definitely is "grammable". We were seated right away and our waitress was helpful. We had a few questions about the menu items and she was knowledgeable about the food and had some recommendations. Really great customer service. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries and shared a side caesar salad with my friend. The portions were big and it filled me up. I didn't enjoy the burger as the patty was thick and dry. There is an option to add a few extras in the burger, one being a sunny side egg, but I didn't have any add ons. The fries that came with it didn't seem freshly cooked. It was tough and dry. I did like the mayo garlic dip that came with it on the side. The caesar salad tasted like and other average salad. I felt that the $20 meal was not really worth it. I plan on coming back here for coffee or breakfast and giving their menu another try because breakfast prices are cheaper. read more

I love coming here for the ambiance, drinks, and food at any time of day - it's all fabulous - but my favourite ritual to partake in at Wilfred's is the break-even bottle. Wilfred's brings in different types of liquor that are at a higher price point and sells drinks from the bottle at break-even prices. This is your opportunity to try the fanciest liquor you've ever had, and not break the bank doing it. A group of us went to Wilfred's a few nights ago. Overall it was average at best. On the plus side the space is very nice, interesting decor updating an old building. The sangria was excellent. On the minus side The service generally was ok but the kitchen was very slow. We waited a long time for our food and it certainly wasn't because it was packed. There were maybe 7-8 tables full. As far as the food, the hamburger was bland and dry, scallops were rubbery and there was a grand total of 3 in the dish. The roasted Brussels sprouts were decent but not overwhelming. Like others have commented, the atmosphere and service are great - friendly, welcoming and beautiful decor. For drinks, we only indulged in coffee but the cocktail menu looked fab. The espresso was Ace Coffee Roasters and was delicious (although no decaf - get on that ACR!!) For food, we split the quinoa and kale salad and the grilled cheese. I'm very glad we shared because both were incredibly delicious, but I would have found it difficult to finish either dish on it's own as the flavours are strong. The grilled cheese is a perfectly toasted blend of cheeses that hits the spot! But, served with french fries and aioli, this meal is quite rich with nothing to offset it. Although I haven't tried them yet, I'd recommend getting the soup or salad to offer some balance to this meal (hopefully). The kale salad was soooo good. The menu says the dressing is green goddess, but honestly, it tasted like a *very* garlicky tzatziki sauce. Delish, but don't order before you head to an important meeting. Also the quinoa is toasted, which adds a lovely crunch, but was a bit tiring in its chewiness by the end. I so love this place and think it's such a lovely addition to the brewery district- definitely take the time to check it out! I feel like this place LOOKS like it should be an amazing restaurant, but the food doesn't match up to the hype. I've been here twice now and I feel like both times were the same. Felt intrigued by the decor and menu, but the results fell flat. The first time I came for brunch, and ordered their breakfast sandwich with smoked salmon. It was good, but for the price I had expected it to be more than just some scrambled eggs on a bun. I also found the side salad that I ordered was tasteless, and definitely not worth the $3 up charge. The second time I decided to try out lunch, and got the prosciutto wrapped chicken. It was legit... one of the strangest, blandest things I have ever ordered in a restaurant. Two flat chicken schnitzel style pieces, fried with unseasoned breading, with the thinnest, most flavourless pieces of prosciutto wrapped around the chicken (between the breading and the chicken). We actually asked the waitress where the prosciutto even was when she came to check on us.... Personally, for the prices, and the 'hype', I think this place should be ashamed. I'll stick to better lunch/brunch options like Pip and Canteen that actually live up to the hype. read more

Of course the inside is cute and has a great ambiance however.. I find when coming to Wilfred's for a meal the portions sizes are just way too small for the prices that they charge. Their brunch dishes costs more then Cafe Linnea and I feel it just isn't the same quality. I'd say the best thing on the lunch/dinner menu I'v tried is the barley risotto but again the portion size is so tiny and you'll be leaving hungry. The warm potato salad with the yellow mustard is a bit strange & disappointing. That being said - the cocktails are phenomenal and the best time I'v had here has been for late night cocktails. I was really looking forward to having a good experience as I live nearby and wanted something within walking distance for the winter. I am disappointed to say that my first experience was not good. I ordered the chicken wrapped prosciutto. It's a pricey item but I'm happy to pay for good food. What I was served was a thin schnitzel style chicken. I'm not sure where the prosciutto was. The wine selection was limited so I thought I'd have a rye. There were many bourbons but only 2 true ryes. The interior hard surfaces make for a loud atmosphere. In my view the atmosphere of old brick was lost by the choice to paint it white. There is lots parking. I won't go back for an evening experience but I may give the breakfast a try and see if that's better. read more

The Great: Beautifully Designed Space. I don't really get the mural, but sit with your back to it and enjoy the rest. The Good: Avocado Toast, Fries, Coffee & Green Juice - all totally delicious. I look forward to trying other menu items and will do so with confidence. Prices were pretty average/reasonable - but portions were small (but sufficient for me - so no complaints) The Bad: It's kind of noisy when it gets busy - proximity to other diners makes it unpleasant if they are loud talkers or have an annoying laugh. It took over an hour to get our food. My benny eggs were hard poached and the potatoes were burnt. I have had more smoked salmon on my Benny's at other restaurants. Not worth the wait. Staff was friendly. Ambiance, loud but the place was full so to be expected. read more

This is a very cute, bright, friendly place and I loved the overall experience. The food was absolutely delicious - I'm not a lover of kale but I think they've converted me. I had the chicken ceasar which is made of kale instead of lettuce, and I wasn't expecting much from it. I absolutely loved it! It was delicious and the chicken breast was the best chicken breast I've ever eaten, hands down. Tender, juicy, lightly seasoned to perfection. I was very impressed. The two ladies I lunched with ate different meals and they both loved their dishes as well. We also had lattes, which were high quality and delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The only reason this review is missing a star is the price. It's a little overpriced in my opinion. With that being said, I'd like to go there again; just can't afford to do so regularly. read more

Cute little place. Really like how their bar is decorated. The food is delicious and super well presented. Only 2 things that I point out in specific is, it's a bit pricey for what it is and the menus are limited in terms of variety. It's a must try at least once type of place but I don't know if I'd feel the need or want to go back often. read more
